My husband went to order and asked for their recommendations. We got tacos, nacho chips and enchiladas. It was honestly much better than I expected and pretty good. As usual in Texas, drinks are refillable ( much to my husband’s delight) and he raved about their very good prices.
The taco meal comes with a cheese empanada and a bean taco as well
Teka Molino has great food. The puffy tacos are delicious, not greasy. There were several tables that were not cleared off at least seven. When I went to ask for a to go container the man behind the counter did not acknowledge me, and when I asked him for one he handed it to me without uttering a word. Not the best customer service. Great food bad customer service.
There’s not much parking space. I do not know if there’s more parking in the back or not. When the order is place, don’t expect to get your food immediately. The food are cooked at the time of order. There’s no heat lamp that I could see. The refried beans is not too lumpy nor too smooth. It have the right consistency. The rice is not over cooked nor undercooked. When a place get extremely busy, for whatever reasons the rice is either overcooked or undercooked. The refried beans is not at the correct consistency. The puffy taco is very good. It is a little challenging to eat. There’s something about the puff tortilla that makes it tastier. The tamales and enchilada, are very good. They cab be cut with just a fork. No matter what one select on the menu, it’s all good. A friend suggested to get either the guacamole cup or bean cup or any of the “cup”. I forgot to get the guacamole cup. Next time, will get a “cup”. There’s no crowd of tourists, just locals! I hear that they also have a food truck.
This place is the exact Tex Mex experience we were looking for; friendly staff, excellent food, clean environment and reasonable prices. It’s hard to find this type of unique experience. When you look up Tex Mex places to eat this little gem doesn’t pop up. Instead you get places with nice patios, overpriced, mediocre food and pretentious clientele. The person taking our order told us the puffy tacos were there specialty so we decided to try something else. If there something else was delicious we’d come back for the puffy tacos. We ordered mole enchiladas and chicken fajitas. The mole was well balanced and the fajitas were very tasty! We’ll be back without a doubt. Thank you TM for keeping it real and serving great food!
I've always wanted to try this restaurant for lunch today and enjoyed the food and customer service. It has an " old school " feel as in somewhere I would have dined in as a child lolololol.
Our first time visiting and the carne guisada plate and chicken mole enchiladas were amazing! My youngest son is a very picky eater and absolutely devoured his tacos. We will be back to try other dishes.
The food is served delicious and hot. Made at order. Nice seating area with a lot of natural light. Tvs are set up for viewing pleasure. We went for breakfast and had the sausage egg taco and bacon egg taco on corn tortillas. Both Green And Red hot sauce is delicious, however, the green was our favorite. we also ordered the bean cups and the beans are savory. The puffy taco meat was flavorful. With the savory beans, they also sell bean rolls on delicious corn tortillas. Come out and try this restaurant. You will enjoy the creamy beans.
This should be a place on your list to visit if you're going to have quickly made delicious local Mexican food. Everything was great. The salsa and the chips were amazing. Had the puffy tacos and the chicken tortilla soup, which was awesome.
While in San Antonio we got a tip from the captain of the river walk boat ride to go to Teka Molino if we wanted to try good puffy tacos and Tex Mex. We wanted to go to a place the locals go to and not a tourist trap. Glad we followed up on this recommendation. The puffy tacos, enchiladas, beans and rice, etc were some of the best we ever had. The quantity of food was more than we could eat. Made for a great second meal. The person at the counter helped explain the options on their menu and followed up afterwards to see how we liked their food. There is minimal parking in the front of the building, but a larger lot in the rear of it.
This is a hidden gem.
This restaurant was featured on "Taco Chronicles" (Netflix season 2 episode 4). FYI, If you're a taco lover this show is a must watch. It didn't disappoint. Place is super clean, staff is friendly and food is finger licking good 😋.
