Review La Gloria - San Antonio

I had a great dinner and experience. Hands down this is now my top place to have tacos. Food good, drinks good and our server Josh professional and attentive. He had good recommendations. Will I recommend it … yes. My experience has been an excellent one. Thanks to everyone working there at La Gloria. I will become a repeat customer.

Really great and hip Mexican restaurant. Very cool. Metal artwork adds to the ambience. The food was excellent. Vegetarian options for the appetizers but not so much for the dinners. I just had the appetizers and they were quite large so I did not order a meal.

Every time we visit San Antonio this place is a must. The flan is the best I've ever had! It is the smoothest texture with caramel undertones that take you to your happy place. They have a large assortment of drinks and they are very good. The tacos are good and are corn tortillas. The patio area is nice on a summer day and overlooks the riverwalk. Even if you come for drinks, don't forget the flan.

First time here. Truly excellent Margarita! Fresh juice, not the icky mix. Had some appetizers, all great.

Accommodating and nice 😏 We went during lunch on a weekday, wasn’t busy and had no wait. Waitress was very nice and welcoming. Our order was miscommunicated but she helped solve it quickly, hence losing a star. Also because the kitchen is exposed to the dining room…it was a little loud because of it. Pretty authentic and tasty food, Bloody Mary was average, maybe order a margarita when you go. The outside looked really great but 100+ degree days are rough for outdoor dining. Patio did have mister fans and lots of shade, so under 90 degrees should be good to go outside. I’d love to go again when the weather is nice.

Went on a Tuesday afternoon. It was fairly busy however the service was still good. Parking is super convenient, super affordable, IF you can find an open spot. There is a parking garage nearby. The food was fantastic. Very flavorful and much more authentic than anything on the Riverwalk. The Pearl area is really nice and there are plenty of options to walk around and enjoy the area.

The enchiladas mineras and the tomatillo sauce enchiladas with beef tacos were amazing! Great mangonada margarita, and to top it off a great job by our server Joshua! Will definitely go back with friends.

This place is AWESOME in many ways! Try their cantaritos! They are refreshing! Their service is outstanding! Their food is authentic Mexican cuisine. Absolutely delicious! The ambiance is casual and FUN! They have live/DJ music on Fridays & Saturdays. Come check them out for yourself!

A friend recommended this place, and I'm so glad we checked it out. It was a little hot out, but we opted to sit outside. They have a wonderful outside area with fans everywhere. Our server, Adrian, was the best. He told us about their ceviche bar, and we just had to try one of their many ceviche options. Simply amazing!

Best tacos I’ve ever had!!! Maria provided excellent service and the place was super cute.

Had the al.pastor tacos and elote. My daughter had got bistek tacos on flour. After trying a bite of one my tacos she loved it and ate the whole taco.

So my friends and I found La Gloria while exploring the Pearl. We were drinking at the Blue Box and needed to eat something. We would’ve been fine with anything but we were amazed at the level of service, the atmosphere and THE FOOD! I kept telling the server to thank the chef for me because it was that Good! The Sopes and the tostadas with calamari! I was floating in taste heaven! 10/10 and I will definitely return this time just to have a full experience with drinks!

The food here was great. Can't wait to go again. This whole area is fantastic and this was a great spot to start before walking the river.

Nice place to get Mexican food away from downtown. This place is located near the Pearl area. I wish they had a better menu selection. We had 11 in our party. Our wait person had a little trouble keeping up with keeping glass filled beverages. I had the shredded beef gorditas, others and individual plates, or shared. Finally, parking can be tight in the parking. Just know if you park on the street, the meters are the coin type (quarters are best). We luckily had 12 quarters amongst us, and that got us 90 minutes. I hope you enjoy yourself on your visit.

Just went for Margaritas and guacamole, but I wish I had made plans for dinner here! The waiter person was very attentive and really fun. Very much a step above as far as service goes. Margs were top notch and the guac was fresh made

Everything about this place is excellent. Delicious, Mexican food (this is not cheap Texmex) and drinks. You can sit indoors or outside with a view of the river. Love the whimsical statues along the outside area of mariachi players. At different times of the year they have other fun outdoor decorations which make the place feel like it is ready for a celebration. Staff are cheerful and helpful. The cost is a bit more than average, but the quality of the food and the experience are more than worth it. I will definitely be back!

I’ve been to this location and the one near Leon Springs many times! The pricing is way better, the food is classic Mexican street food, my favorite being their elote! San Antonio has a lot of restaurants/food trucks, but I have my favorites that I go to La Gloria for

Seated quickly but service was the worst. My beer was served in a plastic cup 👎 we had a party of 12 and the food was delivered in a span of 20 mins. No salt n pepper on the tables and had to ask for silverware. The food portions were so small that we decided to eat somewhere else after eating there. The enchiladas were cold and rubbery. The torta was eh kinda ok. My kids didn’t even like their bean n chz taco. I gave this place another try but that will be the last time we ever eat there.

The food was excellent! We had the pork molcajete, which was tender, delicious and enough for two people. service was just average. Our server wasn't very efficient or organized to serve our table, which consisted of 7 adults and 2 small kids. The ambience was below average due to the heat. The a/c was not working well inside so we opted to sit outside with the breeze. But it still was very hot. The agua fresca was too small for the price.

We sat in the patio and waited about 10-15 minutes for our waiter/waitress and nothing. This was on a Monday at 3, so it wasn’t busy at all. Nothing.

This place is overrated. No happy hour prices! The location is great, right on the riverwalk. That is their saving grace. It was super hot on the inside. The waitstaff was cool, but the food left a lot to be desired. 1. Chips, Salsa & Guacamole: chips were freshly fried but incredibly greasy and guacamole was good and chunky but lacked salt. Salsa was roasted tomatoes and lacked enough flavor. No cilantro and not enough salt, very bland. 2. Queso: If you're expecting a warm basin of hot, dippable cheese flavored with chilies and all the other good stuff, keep looking. The queso was simply a block of Monterey jack cheese melted in an iron skillet. 3. Tortillas: this was my favorite thing on the menu, but if you're a San Antonian, just understand that they have no butter lol. 4. Mexican pizza: lacked creativity. I got the black bean avocado and it had zero sauce (I ended up smearing the salsa on top in a vain attempt to get more flavor. 5. Avocado: the one bright spot was every avocado served was absolutely perfect. Give the avocado picker a raise!! 6. No happy hour prices or drinks: who do you think you are?? Lol I am a veteran foodie and diner, and you will get much more of my business and my friends business, if you do this one thing. 7. Tequila: It was unanimous amongst my friends that they had the smoothest in town.

You must use some cheap-a$$ tequila in your margaritas, or some off-brand mixer, OR, you mix up your tequilas, because I only get flushed and splotchy across my face and chest when I have low-grade margaritas! I was asked if I wanted to fill out an “incident report.” Oh, no thank you, I just did, it’s called social media! Also, when you say your taco has “pork,” don’t ever assume the customer knows you mean “soggy pork rinds.” Um, hello, I was an editor for many years! “Pork” does not equal “pork rinds.” Change your menu! Or, have your servers explain, better. #notafraidtocomplain #notafraidtosenditback #notafraidtocallyouout #stopusinggasolineinyourmargaritas! #cheaptequila Overpriced, not great!

Amazing!! The Grilled Pescado Baja Califas & The Potosinos we're both awesome!! Monique was great!! Highly recommend this place!!

I hate to say this about my neighborhood but they have consistently been horrendous with their service. You are a staple to the “river walk” and you disrespect tourists and locals regularly. Your food is decent but I do not understand this lack of care when it comes to your staff and the way they handle patrons. I am honestly disgusted by the fact that quantity is clearly more important than quality. Please adjust your ways for the sake of our city and reputation.

Food and service great. Celeste handled our large crowd perfectly! Will recommend to friends.
Kate Matthes Parsons
Our server was fantastic. The food was ok, but being from Missouri it was probably too authentic for our taste. Plus there were bees buzzing everywhere and were a nuisance.
Regina Thompson
Excellent service, food and atmosphere. First visit warm and very very friendly. Defintely would recommend to others.

Very expesive, the plate has only one chalupa, no sides, no nothing! Margarita was ok but no the best!

Since when did this place become a tapas restaurant? This is over rated and a tourist trap, if I ever go back it will only be to have drinks and sit by the patio. The ceviche I had yesterday tasted nothing like the real deal. The taste was like the fish was frozen and thawed out and I could not taste the lime juice, it honestly was horrible.
