The food here is amazing, both seafood and non seafood. Shrimp and fish and oysters are great as are the chicken tenders in beef hamburgers. Spinach is the best in town. Everything is good here. My wife, who does not like seafood, loves her food choices here which allows me to indulge in the great seafood.
We decided to give this place a try while going through San Antonio this weekend. When you arrive, the place spent look special, the atmosphere is very casual. Don't let you put that off! The staff is very helpful and friendly. The food is fantastic! I got the senior meal with lemon pepper grilled shrimp, Coleslaw, and fried Okra (spend the extra $0.10 - is worth it! ), my sister got the same with potatoes and greenbeans. All the food was great. The hush puppies tasted like homemade. I'll be sure to come back to this place!

Here in town saw the well lit up sign and said I would stop by and try the food, pulled up to the curb side was greeted by a very helpful and bubbly lady name Yvette great personality and very polite. I wanted to tip her on my card but was told they only take cash tips on curb side. I order the lobster pasta and I gotta say it was not that very good especially for 20.00 my lobster was so rough and like rubber I thought was chewing rubber bands making it hard to swallow as if it would choke me going down the pasta sauce was good and the noodles but the lobster no way so not order this even a hour before they close you will get the rubber bands lol! My strawberry lemonade was great and my server was awesome but yes will I give it a second try sure I had good customer service and a good lemonade to wash it down
Fish 🐠 sandwich 🥪, spinach and slaw, oh yeah!!!
Consistency with their food ranks them high in my book. Then!!! Top off your entree with their famous key lime pie and life is GOOD😊
Very friendly staff !
Amazing food flavorful ! I ordered a new special have not seen before and I was so impressed restaurants still make good food .
The food and speed of service has improved drastically since we were here last in 2021. The prices increased as well. The atmosphere is the same overcrowded but comfortingly familiar if you've been eating here for decades. Compared with the drastic decline in quality, service and atmosphere of just about every other restaurant, Sea Island is doing great.
I am not a frequent diner here because I can't afford a meal here so I bought a few hush puppies to tide me over, The price was great! Lol. They were delish. However there is a long wait time for only 6 hush puppies.
Wonderful selection of seafood and sides. Staff was helpful and friendly. Place was clean. Food came out prompt and hot. Flavors were delicious and portions were big. Had to get a to go box. This was my first time and will be back for more. 👍
I had a big surprise today at Sea Island restaurant. I’m a veteran, who served in the army infantry. However, I had no idea that on this Veterans Day, I would receive a free meal from the staff at Sea Island. My wife and I were both very honored by this generosity. Furthermore, the staff seemed so pleased to make this gift to me and to so so many other veterans. A lot of businesses talk a good game about honoring our country, but Sea Island acts on it.
Sea Island Shrimp House is located on Rector near North Star Mall. It's a long time San Antonio institution. From the street it doesn't look like there is much parking, but in reality, they have a larger parking lot below the restaurant level. Parking spaces are available for curbside pickup, and hàndicap spaces are available as well as 2 spaces for "seniors," although the signage doesn't explain at what age seniors begin. There are also 3 spaces for anyone close to the entrance, one of which I used at 11:15 AM.
I had not eaten at the Shrimp House since before COVID-19. Sea Island rearranged seating when they reopened that I think is better than the original wooden booths. Tables were arranged to provide plenty of room for eating and walking safely. It seemed even more people could dine than originally, though there was more space to walk through.
A large, lighted menu is displayed over the cashier. A menu is also available online. Shrimp and salmon can be prepared Greek style, and a special breaded recipe covers calamari. All menu items are reasonably priced but not cheaply cooked. This is definitely an affordable family seafood restaurant.
Had the Seafood Platter for dinner. Very filling!
I recommend the Grilled Shrimp Platter for lunch.
This place is good! My salmon was grilled to perfection as well as the shrimp. The buttered spinach was really good. You get a lot of food for a great price. Service is fast and friendly.
Every Sea Island I go to is consistently good. I really enjoyed my dinner. All their dishes are amazing. I have been going to this Sea Island since the 1960’s and I keep coming back. Their tartar sauce is so delicious I cannot find any other place that makes it this well.
My husband and I really enjoyed our lunch here. Our absolute favorite was the stuffed shrimp. The fish was great and was my second favorite. They make the margaritas with wine so I skipped that but my husband enjoyed the frozen one.
I ask that Amanda to make a grilled salmon medium rare and she cooked it to perfection. I recommend to anyone that goes there to ask for her to cook your meal.. You will thank me later..
XOXO 😘
Great food, great service! I loved coming here. It’s was better than I expected cause it was so packed when I arrived. The wait time for a table was really short, under 10 minutes. I will definitely be coming back here in the near future. Good Job! The Lemon Pepper Fish & Shrimp is a must order if it’s your first time here!
Not really, the kind of place you go to for atmosphere. Basically go for the food which is always good. They change their lemon pepper fish a little bit, but it's still delicious. The rice is almost always cold, so if you put butter on it, it's just kind of like cold butter on cold rice. But other than that, I've always loved their food. And I think they have great selection, and the service is very good as well. My son insisted that he wanted to try new things and wanted to try oysters. He is seven, so I'll post a picture of my 7 year old trying oysters, needless to say, he won't be trying them again anytime soon. But I do admire his adventurousness.
