This is a real gem! Wow, was the food good! I had beef tacos and a wonderful spinach salad. The dressing and the mangos added a lovely sweetness that was just delicious. The handmade corn tortillas were so much better than I've had anywhere else. The tacos had so much flavor. Dessert was the added bonus, delectable chocolate roll, raspberry sauce, pistachios..OH MY!

Great food at a very reasonable price. It's probably the Smoothest Margarita I have ever had made from scratch. Was cool indoors, but out back in the courtyard is where it's at. I highly recommend it on a nice night to eat outside in the courtyard. Place gets busy, so make sure to make reservations! They do have a bar up front to serve those waiting on tables.

Being that we live in Manor, TX and were there for the day to hit the zoo.....I would Not hesitate just to make the drive for lunch. This place was amazing! Exactly what every restaurant should strive to be. The service was perfect and the food was simply outstanding. We are currently planning a trip this next month for an event in SA, but will definitely be stopping for lunch.

This was the first time we went there. It was pretty full. Had made reservations for 7:30 and sat outside. The food was great, but the tortillas were hard. I would consider the price of the drinks high. I am used to having a Margarita in a Margarita glass, not a small glass. šŸ˜‹ It was excellent, though.

We went here together with friends for a nice dinner while we were in town. Great food that is way more imaginative than tacos and burritos. Portions are ā€œart sizedā€ though no one left hungry. Atmosphere is amazing especially if you can snag an outdoor table. Our group was too large for outdoor dining, they can only take up to 7 outside. I’d say to call for reservations ahead of time.

The food here is incredibly delicious. I loved it so much I came back as our last stop out of town. I’ve never eaten at the same place twice on a trip. I got the peach sangria, La Fonda Special, and a side of the esquite potatoes. The food looks simple the but the flavor will be missed! I don’t have anything like this at home. An incredible experience and I couldn’t recommend more!

They offer a charming patio dining experience with attentive service and delicious Mexican food. The guacamole was made just right, and the mole enchiladas were the perfect balance of sweet and savory. My husband’s fajitas had a smoky flavor and came in generous portions. The sweet tea with strawberry lemonade was refreshing, and the tres leches dessert was a pleasant treat. While our overall experience at La Fonda was great, I must note that the journey there wasn't as enjoyable. Due to the closure of the main exit coming from 35 N., our GPS took us on a slightly challenging route. However, we managed to navigate through it, with a bit of inconvenience. So just take precautions. This minor hiccup didn't overshadow the positive aspects of our visit. It ended up being close to St. Mary’s strip. I would definitely recommend their food.

This place is upscale. Attached are some pictures of the meals. The service is great and the bean and cheese nachos is something that is out of this world. Their lemonade is tasty and they have good vibes spreading all around. Great place to go to if you are at a date night!😊

I found this place after visiting one of my salon accounts in the area. I decided to give it a try and I’m so glad I did. La Fonda on Main is one of San Antonio’s oldest Mexican restaurants. They were established in 1932 so there is a bit of history here and I am all for it. It felt like I was walking into a family home. The staff greeted me warmly and they seated me quickly. The place was full of people dining and conversing to their hearts content. The atmosphere is low key and relaxing. Check out the beautiful tree right outside the window next to me. My server, Josh, made an excellent recommendation as you can see in my picture. I got the La Fonda Nachos with chicken. It was the perfect amount of food. It was fresh and warm. Believe it or not, because I was able to cool off, it was perfect in spite of the hot weather. If you’re in the area, check this place out.

I love La Fonda. There’s just a level of professionalism each time I come here. Never disappoints. The cucumber jalapeƱo is my favorite drink. The arrachera steak is phenomenal! I prefer the dinner one versus the brunch arrachera. Just because the serving is much more sustainable than the brunch one. I recommend making reservations! Overall great experience and one of my favorite places.

Amazing atmosphere, top-notch drinks (try their featured margaritas), the food was some of the best Mexican food I’ve had in a long time. We went during Brunch (desalmuerzo) and I had the barbacoa quesadilla (check out the photo), and my wife had the Chef’s chilaquiles which were chilamigas, basically migas and chilaquiles in one. The food was so great and delicious. There was ample indoor and outdoor seating options. There is a free parking lot adjacent to the restaurant as well as across the street. We parked across the street and walked over, very easy! I would highly recommend La Fonda on Main, especially early on the weekend during Brunch.

Food is really good (had just ok ceviche, great chile relleno, okay fajitas, and wonderful empanadas). Our server was lackluster, but sitting outside under the big beautiful tree was nice. The entire outdoor dining area is actually really nice. Got a few great pics. I wish the chips and stuff were hand made though. Drinks were good, but light on the pour, and I only drink maybe a drink or two a month socially. They were delicious though!

If you’re looking for the perfect atmosphere with great service, and good food then La Fonda on Main is your spot. MAKE A RESERVATION ANY NIGHT OF THE WEEK. The Cucumber JalapeƱo Margarita was the best margarita I’ve ever had. Ordered the combo fajitas, and Bistek Enchiladas. Both were very tasty and properly portioned. Our favorite were the Enchiladas. And the absolute winner of the night was the Tres Leches..when I say it was perfect..it was perfect. If this is your first time visiting you get a complimentary guacamole. This will be where we take friends and family from now on when visiting us.

Never fail spot for delicious Tex-Mex and Mexican. Great value for lunch and dinner, with a variety of options. This time around, I had the Old #7 - a cheese enchilada with their delicious sauce and a bean chalupa with all the fixings. Kid friendly, vegetarian friendly. Friendly, helpful staff. Great atmosphere!

We were visiting from Dallas and wanted to find a place for Tex Mex that wasn't on The Riverwalk. We did a google search and found La Fonda. I booked a reservation for outside on a Friday night. We ended up finishing up our event early so we showed up an hour early. They were able to sit us after a very short delay. The outside dining area was amazing. We sat under an over 200 year old tree. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. A great experience.

We enjoyed LaFonda on Main. We had the fajitas, which were very good. Our server was decent. There is a beautiful patio for outdoor dining. Parking is in the rear of the restaurant.

We had an impromptu dinner and were lucky enough to grab a last minute table, at the end of happy hour and had amazing service from Josh. Love this place. Everything we had was better than anticipated. We will def go back again!

La fonda has great atmosphere and plenty of areas to sit. Tried the La fonda special which was a nice mix of enchiladas, crispy taco, and tamale. If you want a sampler this is a good option. Also tried the fajitas which were good especially the beef with the nice grilled flavor. There are not free chips here as you see at some restaurants.
