Review Cafe Rio Fresh Modern Mexican - Salt Lake City

Sunday used to be the only day that Cafe Rio was closed. Now they are open. Not nearly as crowded as the other days of the week. The food was still fresh and fast. Dining area was clean, restrooms were clean. Staff were helpful and it looked as though they were keeping the cooking area behind the scenes clean as well. I highly recommend this place. You can't go wrong with any of their plates. Ho see for yourself and you will be glad you did.

Sweet pork burrito was spectacular. It never disappoints, but also there are several other items that are really good. Sweet pork nachos, the chicken, quesadilla, steak tacos are all highly recommend. The restrooms were clean and available. No waiting. Seating was spacious. I didn’t feel cramped in like some down town places. D don’t like the ordering kiosk. It is very impersonal and hard to get your order just the way you like it. Avoid if possible. Live cafe Rio!

Great made to order meal for a day of being Ill. The soups are perfect for getting over a cold. They also have huge salads with vegetarian options and several meat toppings. Grilled tortillas with beans and rice, Plus whatever meat you like. Top it off with the famous cilantro 🌿 lime dressing. Staff are trained and always on top of everything. Whether you are sick, and need to get some soup 🍲 into your stomach, or you have a date. This is a great place to be.

It's kind of a knock off chipotle with a slightly different take on menu and offerings. So if you like chipotle you'll like this as well. You may prefer one over the other, but you won't be disappointed with taste or value.

I've worked at Cafe Rio for two months now and I've enjoyed my experience, free food on breaks is always a treat, and I find myself ordering pick up on my days off. My family has loved the food for years, all the options bring in unique flavors yet delicious thanks to their fresh ingredients. Can't wait for my next meal, highly recommend trying their new pollo asada.

This is always a fun, super easy place to stop by with friends. I usually get a salad or tostada with sweet pork, black beans, etc. Always been a classic go-to in my family, and I’m usually very happy with my meal. We even stopped here for prom last year if that tells you anything! Pricing is decent, but always tastes pretty good.

The manager of this location truly cares. She worked at Café Rio when it was still family-owned. She was awesome then, and she’s awesome now and one of the primary reasons I come back, because I know that pride will be taken in the food quality and consistency. First rate customer service as well!!!

I ordered 2 burritos both with extra pico de galo and extra sour cream, but only one of them had extra. Also, they forgot to pour sauce on one of them. This was around 6:30 PM, which was a busy time, so they probably didn't pay attention to order details. I was going to leave 3 star for this, but the lady that handed me my food gave me a free drink, even though I told her I didn't order or pay for a drink. For being nice to a customer, I added a star to make it 4.

Today was my first day back after the remodel, and the place looks much better. I’m glad it has more of a modern look to it after the renovation, in contrast to the previous very colorful and fruity look. The interior look spacious, with sturdy tables and chairs, and they also added bar like stalls. Hence, love the redo. I usually get the Salmon Burrito with rice, beans and salad. But today I decided to try their Tuesday Daily Special (they have a daily special everyday)-coconut shrimp tacos, which comes with a fountain drink. You get two soft tacos with breaded shrimp pieces, topped with lettuce and cilantro, and rice and beans in the aluminum tin container. The shrimp has this sweet coconut taste to it, which isn’t bad, but may dislike it if you believe only desserts should be sweet. Nevertheless, you can lessen the sweetness by adding some hot salsa; I just drizzled some creamy cilantro ranch dressing on top. I like their drink bar, offering a variety of fountain drinks, like the traditional Mexican Horchata (think cinnamon flavored milk), and Lemonade/Limeade drinks (strawberry, southwest, mint)-mint limeade is my favorite. Their Tres Leches cake is really good too. Not a bad place for a chain Mexican food place.

There has definitely been a decline in Cafe Rio as a whole, however this location has been the last remaining bastion in the valley. The best Cafe Rio I've had in a long time. Hopefully this location maintains consistency for the future. I sent in an online order and it was ready when I arrived, tasted delicious.

Solid quick choice. I come here often enough to consider myself a regular, a lot of the staff knows me by now. Service is great about 90% of the time, and fine about 9% of the time. Only ever had one somewhat negative experience with a staff member who no longer works here. Food is consistently good. Burritos and salads are my favorite, but the rest of their offerings are reliably solid. Price is fair for what you get. My biggest complaint is that I guess they tried to save money on utensils, which have a tendency to break if you go at the food with too much gusto. I usually just grab a couple extra pairs, but I guess there's probably a risk of choking if you miss a piece of plastic. They probably have around a 20% chance of breaking in my experience, but sometimes I'll break three or four forks in a single meal. Just be reasonably careful and you should be fine.

Amazing restaurant. They have all different types of Mexican food. Burrito and taco and quesadilla and nachos. I had grilled chicken salad. The restaurant was little crowded. They the service was fast. Also, you can have the burrito in enchilada style for 1$ extra.
