Review Michelangelos - Salt Lake City

Kevin Rayan
Nothing fancy but the lasagna was very good . The cannoli was delicious but extra small. However, the owner fully refunded the charge and I feel that was extremely nice. It was a mistake that the staff made. I was supposed to get a large one or 3 small ones. I would eat here again for sure.

Wow I can’t believe I haven’t written a review for this place! It’s amazing and you should go check it out! My first experience with them was a couple years ago, I had them cater at a local high school event. Let me tell you, they were the EASIEST people to work with for a cater, the boss was so kind and friendly, and the quality of the food was amazing! I had so many people come up to me that night asking who had catered. The second time, I dined inside the restaurant and my experience was again, phenomenal. Food was amazing as always, and staff was very friendly. I honestly can’t wait to go back, my mouth is watering just writing this! Go see for yourself!

We were the only customers at 230pm on a snowy Monday. Good portions. I loved the lasagna. Girls loved the salads. The cheese bread was addictive. Not a fancy place. Very good prices. In short, great tasting food and full stomachs. Would return.

Had an excellent meal and glass of wine here before the Opera. The tables near the windows are great for people watching. Their new chef from Sicily has some fantastic meals. Highly recommend stopping in.

Hands down my favorite restaurant at the moment! If you like mushrooms, get the mushroom ravioli! You will not regret it and the prices are very reasonable.

Foods are delicious, price is reasonable, service is good and will definitely recommend to our friends and will return if visit Salt Lake City again.

Extremely fast service. This doesn't seem like a place you'd think is an upscale Italian restaurant. Food was delicious! I had the lasagna, bruschetta, and ceasar salad. Prices are in line with most diners. If you are looking for a quick bite to eat and some good food this is the place.

Absolutely delicious Italian food! Best Spaghetti alle Vongole I have had across the globe! Lovely atmosphere, the friendliest staff who are also very knowledgeable on the menu. Definitely recommend for excellent Italian food.

Great, fast and friendly service! The mushroom and shrimp ravioli were wonderful! Delicious cannoli!

Oh OH Oh. You have to go to this Restaurant. When you try the Butternut Ravioli you will have an exotic experience. Other dishes such as the Lasagna are our favorites. The service is great. Meals feel like they are individually prepared for you. Not at all like a chain Restaurant. Wish I could give this 10 stars.

This restaurant is a hidden gem in this bustling city and can be easily overlooked. The food can be described as delicious and uniquely authentic at very affordable prices. The restaurant was clean and well maintained and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Great cream sodas, tasty pasta. Fantastic customer service.

This is the best and most authentic Italian food I have ever had. Their chef Silvio is amazing! He is from Italy and all of his specialties are great.

Attending the Grand Opening of the new Eccles Theater in Salt Lake City, we decided to take advantage of Michelangelos, which is just across Main Street. What a pleasant delightful experience. The service was friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent, even though it was more that we could eat. The prices: very reasonable, especially considering the central city location. Try their Pink Penne - I assure you that you won't forget it.

After reading the reviews, we must have hit a bad night! The service was horrible and food nonexistent! We got to the restaurant at about 6:10 PM to celebrate my birthday, then go to the Eccles. Staff ignored us, as though we were invisible. We got seated and our server took forever to wait on us. I saw her waiting on people that came in after we did. She took our drink order and got it wrong. We ordered an appetizer, which was unremarkable. At 7:40, we asked about our food. We were told there were two orders to be prepared before our order! This was at least an hour after we placed our order! The server got testy when we asked for our check and slapped her hand down on the table and said, "Next time, you need to come earlier!" That was it! There will be no next time for us!

Delicious, wonderful atmosphere, great service, good prices. My husband dies for their chicken ravioli in white sauce with Gorgonzola and ricotta, and I love the beautiful, spongy bread. I'm not a fan of their red sauce as it is very mushroom-y, but to each their own. We'll be going back many many times.

Delicious food. Spinach ravioli was outstanding!

Great Authentic Italian Place. My family and I love Michelangelo's on Main. The bread is absolutely to-die-for. All of the pasta is delicious. I cannot say enough about their cheesecake. It is made from scratch, in-house. The service is great. This is one of my very favorite places to go to when we're downtown to catch a show or a play. It is so convenient. This is absolutely in my top 5 favorite places to eat!

Delicious! Great service, great food! Even my picky husband was blown away. Do yourself a favor and eat here.

We're Quickly Becoming Regulars!. I have never had a bad experience at MIchelangelo's! We've been living in Utah for 4 months now and dined there for lunch & dinner multiple times. I love the specials they offer. anything with Gorgonzola is amazing, as are their pizzas. I die over the penne gorgonzola. Like any place you eat, some dishes will be better than others. But I haven't had any BAD dishes there. Just different preferences. The service is top notch & we have never left feeling un-accommodated for (a big deal for us, considering our party usually involves our 2 year old daughter). The atmosphere is quiet & low key during the day and dim and romantic in the evenings. The owner has been present every time I've been there. He's a really nice guy.

The bread they serve is to die for -- don't be afraid to ask for more! It's the best bread I've ever had at a restaurant & is house made. I did a google search of the restraunt before dining my first time & was overwhelmed (and a bit skeptical) of all the reviews of people saying it's the only place they eat in SLC and is a must have on their stops here when visiting... but now I get it!

Great food good value. I was looking for an authentic Italian restaurant so I went to Michelangelo’s on Main in downtown Salt Lake City. Amazing restaurant! Their fresh bread is the best hands down anywhere the problem is you may be tempted to eat way to much bread. They make it fresh in house every day. I had the Gnocchi Bolognese pasta and some house made Minestrone soup. Both were delicious. Our server was very attentive and really cared about our experience. The pricing is very affordable and the portions are generous. All in all it was a very pleasant and delicious experience.

Great Italian place for the price.. I am totally hooked with the bread they bring to your table, along with the oil and vinegar to dip it in....I can't get enough. Great place for lunch, good food, good service and friendly staff to boot.

Great food. Great Service. I have been eating there for over a year. Great food. Great service. High recommendation.

The grilled mozzarella panini was so incredibly good. The ingredients were so fresh and the fresh basil balanced so well against the balsamic.

Their turkey main street sandwich is bomb!

Nothing to go out of your way for! Out of 10--- 10 being the best- this place gets a 5 at best!!! Don't make a special trip! From the mc Donald's fries, to sour ranch dressing on a 3-bite salad... To a dry bowl of pasta. & a soggie pizza- not worth eating! Make a different choice!

You get so much more than just italian!. THUMBS UP....If you want a melt-in-your-mouth filet mignon, you must try the one on Dan's menu, the sauce is excellent! Words cannot describe how really, really good it is...and we know our beef!

Service was excellent and the owner Dan could not have been more friendly.

The atmosphere is deceptive as the front of the restaurant has a cafe-feel to it with a nice view of Main Street but there is a very cozy larger dining area in the back too.

If you are visiting SLC or are a local, get over to Michelangelo's on Main...delic!

Awesome!. We were staying downtown SLC and happened upon Michelangelo's on Main and absoluetly loved the whole experience. Great food! Excellent service! Dan the owner even stopped by to make sure everything was okay! Highly recommend you check it out!!!

THE WORST RESERVATION SERVICE. My boyfriend made reservation 3 weeks in advance for Valentines Day and my Birthday in 2013. We got there with 5 min. early and they made us wait 50 more minutes to finally get us the table. As we were waiting we were thinking, this is just totally unacceptable and unpleasant but we try to let it go and be patient... so we ask very nicely to the lady who received us if we could get some wine, she careless answered "if you want a drink, you can go to the bar"...It was totally RUDE...

On top of that they had not more bread, there was not tiramisu, the reason why we was there!!! and the only cake was chocolate, I DONT LIKE CHOCOLATE..... The waiter, he was the only one who behaver to be as helpful, he tried to please us as much as possible...Thanks Patric.

Stumbled upon this great little holehole in the wall. Wonderful homemade Italian. Will be back next time we're in Utah.

Trust give. Great little Italian spot. Planned on going to a larger well known establishment in the neighborhood the wait was going to be over an hour. I got on Urbanspoon and found Michelangelo's on Main. Wife and two kids had a great time. Kids had pizza's, wife had the Alfredo pasta, and I tried the Mac and Cheese. We were all pleased with the meal and very full. The owner even went out of his way to make the wife a hot chocolate that was not on the menu. We will be putting this place on our short list of places to eat. Skip the big name and try this place you will not be disappointed. I almost forgot no wait the staff met us at the door with read which was amazing and had us sat within a couple of minutes.

Loved it!. Great food, incredible service. Awesome atmosphere, good italian. I really liked how they gave my husband fry sauce for his fries. Sure to be a fav with the Utahns! Bill was a good value and portion sizes were perfect- not too small, not too big.

Food is tasty. I have eaten here a couple of times. The service is good and the food too. The tomato basil soup is delicious! the bread is fresh made and is super delicious! I am not a fan of pasta so I have never ordered pasta. The paninis are really good too. I truly recommend this place. The prices are reasonable.
You can also order to pick up, I have done it a couple of times and it is worth it!

Just okay. We stopped by for a snack on the way to an outdoor symphony concert downtown. We ordered the Tomato Basil soup, Caesar Salad, and a small Prociutto and mozzarella pizza. The Caesar dressing was just awful, the soup was pretty good. The Prociuttto (spelled wrong, I'm sure) looked gray and was tasteless. I thought it would be like what we get at the grocery store. Anyway, the pizza sauce was not very tasty either. The best part was the bread bowl with oil and balsamic vinegar they leave on the table and the soup. I hope your visit will taste better than ours.

Cute place but food was not hot, they ran out of soup. Food was just ok

Decent. Nicely prepared, though not stellar, food -- pesto gnocchi perhaps not our most inspired choice, pork loin quite good although didn't need as much of the braised fruit chutney as it was given. Salad of fresh greens but why a tomato in January?
Service fine. Decor basically unchanged since Frody's Vienna Bistro days.
Demerit for "Do you want to keep your fork?". Actually -- no. At least there was a bread plate to park it on -- although come to think of it there was no bread, if that is important to you. Portions are generous enough it shouldn't be.

I ordered the gnocchi because I love gnocchi and it is a huge pain to make on your own. The gnocchi here was smaller than I've had before and a little sticky, but it had good flavor. I liked the bolognese sauce, which was meaty and fresh, and there was a good sauce to pasta ratio.
