While eating a nice turkey crepe and procuitto wrapped melon last night I noticed the desert menu. I had to come back tonight for an apple cinnamon crepe. Delicious
Stopped in SLC for work and was looking for a beautiful spot to eat and have a glass of wine. The Olive Bistro is fantastic. Wonderfully flavorful food, great wine list, amazingly fast service, and an amazing location.
We went to The Olive Bistro on a Saturday night about 6:30pm. The was one other couple there and they were dancing romantically to the music. Interesting :-)
We ordered a large Belgian beer followed by a chicken panini and a seafood salad. Beer was excellent. Chicken panini was "the best I've had in a long time". The seafood salad was very good.
Overall, staff was excellent and friendly. The location was perfect for a dinner before attending events directly across the street at the Capital Theatre.
Highly recommended.
Great experience. I had a great experience. One of the best sandwiches that I've had in a long time, smoked turkey, cracked pepper jack, and avocado.
I was pleasantly surprised with how good this little bistro is, it reminded me of places I visited in Paris, I really liked their Greek chicken crepe and their Mediterranean salad, the place radiates with warmth, I will be back.
Thanks
I don't usually write reviews, but I felt compelled to write one because I was so impressed with their food! We placed a takeout order and it surpassed our expectations. The ingredients were top quality and the flavors were fantastic!
How is this not more popular?. I ate here with a group of friends on a Friday night at 7:30 pm. There is always that hesitation to eat at a restaurant that is quite at that time of night, but we gave it a shot. So glad we did because this was some of the best food and service I have had in Salt Lake. We ordered an appetizer of cheese, meats, olives, and pita bread which was a nice starter with drinks. Then we had the special panino, chicken avocado with cheddar, and three different types of crepes. Everything was delicious! Then, we ended the meal with the creme brulee. It was better than I have ever had; made with real vanilla beans and homemade whipped cream. The food is definitely more for lunch (panini, crepes, salads) but is delicious and well priced at anytime! Why this place is not more popular, I have no idea.
If you haven't been to Olive Bistro, then go now. Excellent food all around. Nice wine list and very unique beer list. Everything is fresh with lots of organic ingredients. Excellent customer service and an owner who really cares about his customers.
Quality lunches at moderate cost. Have only been at lunch time. The paninis come in a wide variety of flavors with nice pesto and veggie stuffings. They are accompanied by a salad of quality fresh greens and other goodies, blue corn chips and a small pot of salsa. A complementary frozen peppermint patty with your check which can be as low as $8.
Hospitable staff. Pleasant interior and a wide north facing terrace overlooking Capitol Theatre. )
It's never been busy when I've been there. A mystery, for this is one of the better choices for a moderately priced lunch downtown.
Simply Amazing. The Place: So far I have only visited this place once; I am completely satisfied. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and offers a promise for cultured individuals and food lovers to enjoy a social encounter or two while becoming frequent patrons. The décor is a fantastic blend of ethnic art, that accents the cuisine, and modern art, that compliments the social scene afore mentioned. The Olive Bistro does offer a parking validation for the parking garage that is conveniently located behind the bistro. There is a lovely looking outdoor patio with adequate seating space and a beautiful view. The staff is absolutely friendly and completely helpful.
The Food: I ordered the Wild Salmon and Provolone Panini - it was a real catch. The flavors were robust and mouthwatering while the ingredients were fresh and guilt easing. I was not expecting this, however, the Panini meals are served with one of the most electrifying salsas I have ever tried; I am a salsa connoisseur. The salsa is a perfect blend of natural sweetness and balanced spiciness. It is a hardy salsa and it tastes specially prepared for each meal. The salsa is served with some low-fat blue corn chips. The Panini meal also comes with an organic salad, on the side, that is a relatively small portion, but immensely satisfying at the same time. The Panini meals range from $11 to about $6 and there is a unique variety of selections that make it hard to decide upon one. There are, of course, other menu items, but the Panini meals seem to make up the bulk of the choices. Overall the portions were satisfying, if not perfect. My wife could not finish her entire meal and I finished mine ending in that golden area between barely satisfied and completely full. Then we added desert, which made me feel a little full, oh it was worth it though. We ordered the Strawberry Crêpe and it was absolutely divine. The crêpes were not yet on the menu when we went, but they are a must try nonetheless.
The Wine: I had the Tapena Garnacha, not an excellent choice for my meal, but an excellent wine I enjoyed all the same - it was great with the dessert as well. The wine is typically $8 a glass and $36 a bottle, so it is a bit pricey, yet fairly typical for the area. The wine selection is not a vast one; rather, it is a very diverse list that offers some of the best names for most of the best types.
The Synopsis: I loved this quite little place and it is among my favorite anywhere in the Valley. Whether you live here, nearby, or are just visiting, this is a must try. You are sure to find something you will like and you will enjoy the experience every bit as much as I did.
Walked by The Olive Bistro all the time going to and from work and finally made plans to dine here before the symphony last week. The atmosphere was really nice and the food selection was so good I'm going back next week before the ballet. The Moroccan bruschetta was amazing, then my husband and I split a panini and a dessert crepe. The gentleman running the establishment was very friendly and personable. We are looking forward to returning again and this time I don't know if I'll share!
Wonderful crepes, excellent service, a gem in Salt Lake City! The only crepery, and the selection of ingredients is delightful. I had the prosciutto, Brie, and basil crepe and my companion enjoyed the grilled chicken and avocado. Both were satisfying. We also got a bottle of wine, which are very reasonably priced. If I return to Salt Lake I'll definitely stop in for lunch again.
We truly enjoyed the savory crepes we ordered. The salad that accompanied the crepes was very good. The salad dressing was unique; balsamic based. The amount of food served was just right. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was very cozy and comfortable. Well worth a visit.
Ordered Sweet Strawberry Crepes. Delicious. Staff was very kind, and had my to-go order ready in 8 minutes. Delicious and fast! Best crepe I have had in a long time, can't wait to try the other ones out. Repeated business on its way.
Love this place! I've never had a bad meal here and I have been nearly a dozen times. Olive Bistro is the perfect place to relax, have some good and inexpensive food and have a conversation on the patio. I absolutely love the wild salmon crepe and tiramisu! Would highly recommend!
Great atmosphere, delicious food and friendly service. Prices were very reasonable. I asked for three olives, but the kind waitress brought me five. If you're looking for a break from the Olive Garden, I strongly encourage you to try this place.
Went for lunch. The gal was very nice and greeted me when I entered. I ordered a chicken breast sandwich, and it was great. The vegetables were all fresh and organic and to boot they had san peligrino. I would have given a 3/3 on this, but the chips which came with it were a little old and the salsa was less tasty than pace picante sauce. I would have liked to have an option of fresh fruit or salad instead of chips anyhow.
Bottom line, I will be back for the sandwiches alone, but will try to get something other than the chips and salsa.
Had lunch there. I ordered a bruschetta and a latte with soy milk, and they were both excellent. The waitress, Nicole, was very nice and knowledgeable, and the owner, Hassan, was incredibly friendly and welcoming.
Best Mediterranean food in the world!!! Best crepes the owner Sam and hostess Bella are the nicest people on earth... freaking amazing food and great wine...
Best meal I've had in a long time! I got the prosciutto, brie, and basil crepe, and it was well portioned.
