Review Left Fork Grill - Salt Lake City

Lindsey Ballard
Great find. Cute Americana diner vibes. Roxana, our server was absolutely wonderful and kept up with us and everything we needed. Our favorite dishes were the burger, the salmon omelette, and the mixed berry jam which I asked for extra to take home. The price point was a bit high in our mind but the food was tasty.

Quaint diner experience featuring home cooked flavors and attentive wait staff. Drinks never made it past half empty! Food was very flavorful and quick to the table. Perfect spot for a quick lunch or take your family out for some comfort food. I tried the pork belly BLT and it did not disappoint! Definitely requires another trip back to try some other food options. Don’t skip the pies, the lemon merengue was great!

It feels like a place that probably has regulars. The food is good. The biscuits and gravy were pretty nice. I asked for crispy bacon and they gave me exactly that. The pancake was the perfect thickness. My wife said "That's the best pancake I've eaten in a long time." The buffalo chili was really flavoredful.

Love going to Left Fork Grill. Everything we’ve had has been wonderful. Latest dinner was for their Prime Rib on the weekends. Prime Rib is seasoned and cooked beautifully, it comes swimming in a rich Au Jus, and Horseradish sauce on the side. We had the substantial side salad with house made dressing, they make all the dressings in house, and vegetables as side. We ended the meal with one of their famous home made pies, Razzleberry. On other visits we’ve enjoyed very tasty Wiener Schnitzel- Breaded veal sauteed in lemon butter sauce with sides of Mashed potatoes, and vegetables. Left Fork Grills Fish and Chips are wonderful Halibut fillets covered in Beer batter, which is the best way to make them, with a side of house made Coleslaw. The Rueben is an excellent sandwich served with choice of side and a pickle. Pie flavors we’ve had include Peach and apple. Sometimes A La Mode, but always yummy.

Nice local diner with lots of options. The corn scramble special was really tasty, omelet was good. Will be coming back here again!

Picked this place because it was close to our hotel. I think they are known for their pies. Great service. Standard diner food that comes out quickly. The pies are delicious. I think the apple and cheese is the flavor to get but they didn’t have that when we went. Got the apple pie and raspberry and peach. Definitely seemed like a local spot. No frills.

This is literally everything that you’ve ever dreamed a diner could be. We walked and there were a couple old bearded guys sitting at the bar visiting with the waitresses and ordering pie after they finished up their meals. The waitresses were both so friendly. Our waitress (Moni, I think) was amazing. So attentive and personable. Lovely, lovely person. The food was amazing and the pie was great. I don’t think there could possibly ever be a diner to be more diner-y.

Update. 08.06.23 We came today around 9am and was nice the food still awesome. The waitress was awesome as well very friendly 😀 looking forward to come back again This is the second time being here the waitress are nice and very friendly this is what as a customer look forward so far they don't see you by your background we are a Hispanic family. They take care of you the food was super good I posted some pictures so you can have an idea. I definitely will come back with my family's and I will recomend them to my relatives. Keep going like this and I wish you much success 🙌. Thank you.

A clean little diner tucked in next to an apartment complex. There is nothing spectacular about the decor, well except those delicious looking pies peeking out from the refrigerator unit, or stashed next to that in their glass covered pie storage containers. The place demonstrated service with a pleasant personality and frequent smiles. Truly no waiting, and the food was served very quickly from order to table, hot and tasty. We ordered and shared the "special" of two eggs, 2 strips of crispy bacon, and a dinner plate sized fresh, hot pancake. Nothing frilly, just good eating! Good coffee, served hot and attention to keeping your cup filled. I would definitely go back and actually feel inspired to try more from their menu! And maybe a bite of one of those amazing looking pies! I can see where during a busy time, parking could get difficult, but it was not the case for us.

It's one of those places you go "where everybody knows your name!" The waitress was wonderful! She had great personality and sense of humor! I can't remember her name, but she's gorgeous and has beautiful tattoos. She did an amazing job and I'd go back for sure!

My recent breakfast at Left Fork Grill was a delightful start to the day, offering classic American comfort food. The restaurant's warm and friendly atmosphere set the perfect tone for a satisfying meal. I began with a stack of pancakes, and they were a true classic. Fluffy, golden, and served with a drizzle of maple syrup, they were a comforting and delicious choice. For the main course, I opted for an omelet, and it did not disappoint. Fluffy eggs enveloped a flavorful mixture of ingredients, creating a hearty and satisfying dish. Left Fork Grill's dedication to traditional American flavors and generous portions was evident in every bite. The friendly service and the inviting atmosphere made my breakfast experience truly enjoyable. Whether you're a fan of pancakes, omelets, or simply seeking a hearty breakfast, Left Fork Grill is a must-visit. I can't wait to return for more of their delicious offerings!

Service was excellent, the food we had was too, especially the pie. The dining area wasn't the cleanest but good enough. I think the parking area was big enough but could use some repainted lines. I had the fish and chips, which were a bit pricey for the size of the fish portions, but the quality was good and the sides along with it were a good amount.
Amber Sposeto
Great food, great service, great place! Roxana is an amazing server who made us feel welcome. She delivered quickly, and went above and beyond in making sure we were satisfied. Thank you!

I have only been once, for breakfast. I had the spinach and gruyere cheese omelet. It was good but nothing to write home about. I wasn't in love with the home style potatoes; they were a little limp and soggy for my taste. The wheat toast was excellent; it was seedy and hearty. We had excellent service. Our coffee cups stayed full and we didn't have to ask for anything, the waitress was looking out for us without being too intrusive. This restaurant has been here for a long time with many regulars.
Dave Nelson
First time here, we will definitely be coming back. We came for breakfast and they delivered. $4.49 breakfast special is not on the menu but ask the waitress. It comes with 2 eggs hashbrowns or home fries, and toast. They will substitute the toast for a pancake. The pancake was awesome. We each ordered our eggs a different way and all got them the way we like, done right. The biscuits & gravy, western omelet, bacon, and french toast were all fantastic too. The sausage, gravy, preserves, & pie are all homemade.

Me and my friends had a random breakfast here and we loved it, the steak is so good and the serving in every meal is big.
Andromeda
So far one of the best country style potatoes I've had in Salt Lake City! Everything was cooked well :D my boyfriend had the Chili Verde Omelet and by the time he said, "I shouldn't eat anymore" the Omelet was gone :P by the picture you can see the the Omelet was stuffed and looked delicious <3 The service was fast! Even though it was packed at noon we were seated withing good timing...about a 10 min or less wait.
Amy Divelbiss
This is the best breakfast in the valley. Forget about all those hipster, colored plate places. Left Fork Grill has the most flavorful pancakes, the creamiest and best hollandaise sauce I have ever had and the pie is killer! The service is outstanding. The restaurant is clean and decorated with local art. The owner / chef walks the floor to ask how things are. Forget all the overpriced, flash in the pan, lemon vinaigrette dressing, coffee shops downtown and head to South Salt Lake for the best breakfast you've had in awhile.
Scott Worne
The best in Utah for breakfast, brunch or any time. Great prime rib Friday evenings and the best server in town works there-Cara. We love this place!
Ellen Fletcher
There are no words to describe how amazing the food is here!!! The owner came to our table and chatted for a bit such a nice guy, and the staff is amazing!!! SLC's hidden treasure!!! Best food, and best service in the city!!!
Bill Davis
We love Left Fork. I had my regular, eggs benedict. The hollandaise is almost always spot on. Delicious! On most of our visits, Jeff, the owner stops by the table to ask if everything tastes good. He is honestly seeking feedback! In 40 or so visits, one bad experience. That's pretty darn good! Yesterday, everything was 5 stars!
Hani Solaqa Poulus
Everything was wonderful, especially the pie! But only if they concentrate on bringing the egg flavor more than other flavors on their eggs in a hole plate.
Angela Seabury
Best diner on the planet. You'll be happy. Delicious food for reasonable cost. Friendly, hometown people. Hollandaise at a diner?! O hell yes--get the crab benedict!!! Plus... Meaty bacon, rich coffee, made-from-scratch pie crust, meat loaf sandwich that never fails to comfort...and on, and on.... get pie with EVERY meal.
Kim Judd
Love the pies (especially the coconut cream & raspberry cream)and the Prime Rib on Fridays is my favorite anywhere. They make it with a great peppercorn and salty crust. Try the carrot chips they are always sweet and especially yummy! I also really like their meatloaf. Everything is homemade and really good. I've had some things that were just good, yet most things are really especially tasty! Always crowded yet service is still consistent and pretty quick. If you see a pie you like when you walk in, ask for them to hold your slice when you order or it may be gone!
Heather Steinlicht
I don't think I've ever been this impressed with a restaurant. Amazing food and AWESOME Staff! We will absolutely be back and will highly recommend it.
Lynne McKenna
This place is great in every way! Great comfort food, very friendly staff, and an owner who frequently comes to his customers' tables to greet them, ask for feedback, etc. This cafe exemplifies why people should "shop local" when it comes to going out to eat!
June Larson
This place is the best bet going . . . great food, great staff, cool authentic diner atmosphere. I think the owner said it best: cuisine meets diner. You will not be disappointed!!!
Tony Ortega
Best place for breakfast, always a great experience to eat here, great food great prices! My kids love it here!
James Scott
They have best HOME FRYS in utah and service is ggrrraaiitt. I my be small but it is just right and JEFF keep thing going. Parking is great and is close to trax and bus service. 0900 is the right time to be there for breakfast.any later the place is packet.yem.
Shannon Blanchard Paluzzi
Service was horrible. Coffee was ice cold and half of our dishes were cold and one of my guests breakfast wasn't even ordered. No plans to return!
Bói Zsolt
Good food, fast service. Love this place. In and out in 30 minutes
Alex Nava
Probably the best restaurant made chorizo I've ever had. The servers are awesome.
Cherie Hale
I've been eating here since it opened. Not every meal, of course, but tried most everything on the menu & it's all delicious. Tastes like good home cookin'! The fish, the soup, the sandwiches, the homemade pies, and the prime rib's to die for!!
Mansi Negi
I love Left Fork Grill. Everything is so good. Prime rib night is one of my favorite nights. I always order my piece of pie first to ensure it is there when I finish my meal.
Jeff Cortes
This is the true definition of a diner right down to the staff. I ordered the breakfast special and some hot cocoa and only paid $7 ($9 with tip). The only criticism I have is that the pancakes were a bit undercooked but everything else was great.
CJ
This local hidden gem is worth the stop. They serve classic American diner food. The fries and the club sandwich are especially good. The meals are affordable and the service is prompt. Restaurant is also clean.
GoodFella
Great food, in a diner setting so it may throw you off. The biggest flaw besides the limited parking during the busy lunch hours is going there on a weekend or other time when the owner/chef Jeff is not around. There is a really big drop in the quality of food and service when he is. The pies (strawberry rhubarb is a must) are outstanding and should be ordered in advance. Some dishes can be a big miss or very different, ie do not order the veal schnitzel - it's the chicken schnitzel or else. Left Fork is one of those places you need to go too many times and try lots of dishes and see what you like. Also don't be offended by some of the gruff ladies who do the serving, they can be painful if not quick and icey, especially in the busy lunch/rush hour times.
Kaitlin Rose Sarfraz
Went here with friends and while my mushroom sandwich was delicious, I wish they had more vegetarian options. The veggie sandwich was basically my only choice.
Grizzly50
Left Fort Grill. It used to be good. But now there is something missing from every dish. Ordered the grilled seafood dish only 2 of the shrimp were cleaned. The steak sandwich was good now there is no garlic salt and pepper a shoe with a slice of cheese would be about the same. The burger used to be good but now I swear it is a frozen burger taste is bland and dry. The staff is stuffy if you joke around you will be told to shut up.
Cheyenne
AWFUL! Save your money and go elsewhere. Their food was horrible. Biscuits and gravy was the worst that I have ever tasted. I didn't want to waste my money so I choked it down and wanted to puke. Also if you want hash browns don't go on a Saturday or Sunday because they don't make them on weekends. My shadow will never grace their doorstep again.
Tater
We've had breakfast here a dozen times. Great food, good service.
Peter Fillmore
This is by far our favorite go-to restaurant. The food is always delicious and service is always superb. Basically the feel of a clean greasy spoon with the food of chef-made meals.
5262bob
Great waiters and staff. Reliable menu and good specials. Our biker group loves it. Corn beef hash incredible!
Ali
I didn't enjoy my lunch at all. I got a pulled pork sandwich and the bun was soggy. I had rasberry pie and it was decent. I would not go back.
Jim
Slow service. Our server was slow to come back and take our order, never asked if we wanted drink refills and couldn't be bothered to come over to the table so we could ask for the check. Meanwhile she was often just standing by the window to the kitchen. We finally communicated with her and she went off to split our check. The next table down from us asked for their check while she was refilling their drinks. They asked for a split check, too. She promptly came back and gave them their checks at which point we got up and headed for the register. She came running with our checks. When I told her that I was frustrated that the other table got their checks first, she said it was because she had to split our check, which makes zero sense when I heard the other table ask for split checks too. Her attitude when I talked to her was combative. We all gave zero or 1 cent tips. It took about one hour to eat there and the last 20-30 minutes was waiting for the waitress.<br/><br/>The food was good, but not good enough to go back and risk the terrible service again.

The pancakes are great! I love the granola yogurt and fresh fruit. Tasted great! A ton of fresh fruit! Sausage and eggs were amazong also. Their toast with their homemade jelly was the best!
Jeff Anderson
A great burger! The only suggestion I would have is to use fresh cut fries instead of the frozen ones. Their pie is also quite good.

Homemade yummies... F'n YUMMM! Meatloaf sammich=scrumptios...pie=o baby... GET THE PIE!! even the crust is homemade. SO good.

Hash. We try corned beef hash whenever we see it on the menu -- unless a place gives off hopeless vibes. This is the best hash in Salt Lake. This prevents us from ever investigating other things on their menu. Pie is nice but not quite the transcendent experience some have here. Perhaps we come the wrong time of day? <br/> Friendly service, typical family cafe type ambience. Noise level acceptable even when pretty busy -- helps that they don't play music.

Almost was a customer. So I came into this establishment earlier this week to see if I could use their phone.<br/>However the woman in a pink apron with short black curly hair ( I think she was the manager)<br/>told me it was only for customers.<br/>So I did what anybody with money and no time would have done, I walked over to the menu to browse for a drink.<br/>Then she came over and said "I still can't allow you to use the phone." <br/>I said "I thought it was for customers?"<br/>She replied "no it's a business phone, I cant let you use it."<br/>This would have been fair enough if she would have said it in the first place, I feel like I've been discriminated against because I was wearing work pants that were a little ragged, had just gotten off of work and was tired and hot. <br/>Perhaps she presumed I didn't have the money to purchase anything, little did she know I did have money and would have been more than happy to be a customer. <br/><br/>Now never, I don't appreciate being lied to and made a mockery of. <br/>I will never come again being I was made so unwelcome.<br/><br/>I work in the area and will no longer be sending people that way when I'm asked about a good place for lunch, which is a frequently asked question being customers wait for our service and usually go out for lunch while they wait.
Dave
Good Food and Great pie. I enjoy going here every so often. I love their open faced turkey sandwich. Wish they served more stuffing with it, than the tablespoon full you get. Their pie's are awesome. And I love their rolls. Also, you can't beat what Jeff prepares for his daily specials.
Lindsey
I have been going to Left Fork for the past few years. I went this morning for breakfast and left disappointed. The service has gone downhill and the pie isn't as good as it used to be. It will be a while before I go again.
Cat Blue
Love it!!!. I really like the wait staff, they area a great crew. The food is a little pricey but almost always worth it. Jeff ways says "hello" and asks us how our food is. The booths are not the most comfortable and it's always very warm, too warm. Over all my family always goes back and we will continue to.
Jeremy
One word. Pie :) the food is good but the pie is excellent.

Prime Rib. Have not had it yet

Meh.... It was OK...Nothing to do back flips over, but not horrible either. We went on a apparently "unexpectedly" busy Memorial Day. The server seemed frazzled, and overwhelmed but friendly. Unfortunately, it took almost an hour to get our food which was a little annoying. 3 parties came in after us and had there food before us. We were told when our food did arrive that it was because Chris' smoked salmon scramble takes a while (which I didn't understand). I ordered the chili Verde burrito. It was packed with pulled pork and topped with homemade green chili sauce and cheese. The flavor was very good on both the Verde sauce and the pork. Chris' smoked salmon scramble was way too salty (and she likes things on the salty side). I also got a piece of banana cream pie to go and it was delicious! Everything seemed to be very homemade which I really appreciate. I would try it again to give it a second chance but, i wasn't super impressed with my first visit. I would give it 3 out of 5 stars.

Let's start by saying it was Mothers Day and packed. It was my first time to eat at Left Fork and while it was a pleasant environment with the chef walking around asking how the food was, my meal wasn't so great. I order pancakes for my kids which I will say hands down are some of the best pancakes I have ever had. My husband got the cornbeef hash and pancakes and he was in heaven. I unfortunately ordered the wrong thing. I am not a fan of the egg benedict! The eggs still had a the taste of vinegar from being poached it was semi warm when it got to me, the potatoes were flavorless and again semi warm. The sauce was decent but wasn't fresh the rim of my english muffin was burnt all the way around so it had the effect of making the entire thing taste burnt. In a whole I picked the wrong dish. I will try the resturant again because everything seemed enjoyable for my family but I would never order eggs benedict from Left Fork Grill again.

Forget about what anybody else said about this place it is heaven on earth!

Left Fork Burger. I was looking forward to the Left Fork Grill after reading reviews on urbanspoon. It looked quiant and promising when I walked in. Service was friendly but it took about 10 minutes to adjust to an odor that smacked me in the face as I walked in. I have no idea if it was the food smell-combinations or what, but it definitely left an impression. I took a date for dinner (about 6pm) and unfortunately we weren't in the mood for sandwiches (which they have quite a selection of). If I return to Left Fork, it will be for lunch and maybe for a slice of HOT pie.<br/><br/><br/>-----04 Mar, 2011-----<br/><br/>Left Fork Burger. I know when you go to a small diner, everything on the menu could be considered a signature dish. I was expecting something different about the only item named after the grill itself, and was left very unimpressed. On the other hand, my date had the special of the day which was Chicken Marsala. The chicken was tender and the sauce had a great consistancy to it. We washed it down with a razzleberry pie. Just one note on ordering pie: Find out what's coming out of the oven next and order that, otherwise you are just served a slice of pie from the that's been sitting on their display. Mine was room temp and although it was good, could have been much better with 30 sec in the micro.

Sweet Potato soup. MMMM today I had the Sweet Potatoe Soup with Hot Chili Oil and it was DIVINE!!!!

Something Is Up. We've headed to the Left Fork on weekends a few times this summer. Can't say that it's been the best experience. Wait staff isn't helpful or even polite. For some weird reason they insist on trying to seat us in the large side room when everyone else is in the main dining area and there are plenty of open tables. The food just is not the same as weekdays and what is up with no hash browns on weekends. I'll stick to Monday thru Friday.

Left Fork Grill. We have been going there since the place opened in 2006......we are loyal customers, we have most likely tried every item on the menu. All is great!<br/>The breakfast sandwich is a real change....the Halibit fish and chips are excellent. Dinners are to die for, always one or two specials plus Prime Rib. And, of course you must try the pie, The Almond joy pie, Blueberry, Apple with a hunk of Cheese and Strawberry-Rubarb....all so good! Service is excellent, restrooms are very clean and everyone is friendly. Yes Jeff does come and ask how your meal was, if any complaints he'll rectify it at once! Come and Check it out! The wallace's

Like the food. But I've had real issues with the serving staff. Sat there for a hour once only to find that my order had never been entered. I dont go as often since then.

How Rude!!. My friends and I went to eat here and I was really excited to try there. The hostess was so rude to us and told us she wouldn't sit us because my friends had babies. Serious? Be versitle enough that everyone can enjoy the place. Not so sure I'd like to go and eat there now and WONT recommend it unless there is new staff.

The Best Food. This place is great no matter if it's just one person or on our last visit there were 14 of us not counting the three little ones! The breakfast is great no matter what you order! I love the egg in a hole and corned beef hash is very good. What you must save room for is the pies! Everyday the have a different selection but it's all good and worth every penny. The service is very good and you will want to come back soon.

Home made stew and potato cakes. This stew is delicious..it's a bit fancy for the everyday diner, but nontheless, delicious. I could tell the richness was attributed to a hint of sherry or wine in it. The potato cake was very good, but it had a bit too much horse raddish for me. The portion was plentiful, so I took some home cause I had to leave room for some of the scrumptious home made pecan pie. Service was great, the diner was very clean.
Eric Crawford
Breakfast is GREAT. I cannot recommend the breakfast berry pancakes enough. Servings are hardy, the service is excellent and the prices are great.

Outstanding food. It is an absolute pleasure to eat @ Left Fork Grill. The chef is a true master of the kitchen and each dish tastes like the makings of handcrafted brilliance. The pie is by far among the best I've ever had.

The left fork grill is really good! Their soups are delicious! And the pie is fantastic! If your looking to try something new try their schnitzel! It's the best! Their menu is full of great stuff! I suggest giving it a try! You won't be dissapointed!
Jeff At Hometown Slop
I will return soon to try many sandwiches on the menu including: Corned Beef on Rye, Pulled Pork, Chicken Club, Grilled Pastrami, Turkey Reuben, NY Steak. From there I will try the entrees. If you are in the Salt Lake area, go to 68 W. 3900 S. and enjoy a great meal. I hear that they even have great breakfasts. Next week anyone?

The Left Fork Grill is a special place. It's a modest little diner serving fresh and carefully crafted food for extremely reasonable prices. The chef visits each table, the waitresses are beyond friendly and my coffee cup never gets below 2/3 full. The customers range from bikers, families, a lot of old people reading newspapers and there's not a hipster in sight. the fresh fruit plate! My husband and I learned about his hidden treasure from City Weekly's food critic, Ted Scheffler. It was featured as one of the best places to eat in Utah a few years ago, and our interest was piqued. The vegan idealist in me hoped that I could navigate the menu. And I have! Of course it helps that they are happy to oblige customers in all sorts of ways that other diners would never do. You can order sauteed veggies with homefries for a hearty, heart-healthy breakfast, or you can get my favorite - the slowly cooked steel c

Don't let the location and the modest exterior fool you, Left Fork Grill is an absolute treasure. Nothing beats a simple meal of burgers and pie, and this place delivers both in an amazing manner. The meatloaf sandwich is incredible. Grilled meatloaf on a
