Review Beerhive Pub - Salt Lake City

Carrie Heward
Beerhive is the best place to gather with friends especially for Caturday fun!đŸ˜ș Tons of space, booths, table tops, downstairs pool tables. Drinks are reasonable and they have a ice bar to keep them cold. The best part is the staff! They are the coolest cats I know.

As a note: they don't serve food. Which is fine! They do allow you to bring food instead. The bar offers local breweries on tap. The bartender was helpful! He suggested the half berry Hefeweizen (which was extremely sweet), and half regular Hefeweizen. Which was great!
Steven Mejia
They got a great selection of beer on tap plus cans. On Monday the beer are $3. They have a line of ice on at the bar to keep your drink on, really unique. Definitely enjoyed my visit.

One of my favorite places in SLC. First time I went there 6 years ago after I climbed up the Mount Olympus. Food was great so was the selection of beers. I simply like pilsner but there are so many options for all different tastes. There is no more kitchen there unfortunately, but they allow to order in from different places. Beer is still great, so does atmosphere. Can’t wait to go there again next time I’m in SLC

Stopped in to try some have fancy beers and the hive delivered! So many exciting options you'll have to come back (several times) to try them all! Tried the Karmeliet Tripel and the Blackberry Sour by Kiitos, both fantastic!

Stopped in for a beer and burger but they don't have a kitchen... but the wonderful lady tending bar suggested Lucky 13 (which was amazing), but since I was there I went ahead and had a brew. After you get your beer it sits on a rail of ice... what... yes... it was fabulous. The lady was fabulous as well. They do have sandwiches from a local deli they sell, just nothing cooked. Great spot for meeting friends and making new ones.

The one the only. I moved away from SLC and still find a way to come back whether with old friends, new friends or alone. Never actually had food here and had one of their catered sandwiches. Hit the spot. Wish the taco lady was outside that day.

Absolutely excellent beer list and fantastic service. Bradley was a champ. They have an ice chilled bar thing I don't know but has snow on it and I love it. I want to put all my beers on it and I want one for my house. Don't hesitate to ask recommendations. They have a very natural staff and a very good beer.

What a great spot to grab a drink downtown. I love the old wooden bar. The ice inlaid at the bartop is a great way to keep things chilled. They do not serve food in house, but do carry snacks and sandwiches from a delu down the street. The stairs down to the pool tables and restrooms are a little narrow so use caution.

My best pub experience in SLC! Me and a friend stopped by to watch the superbowl game and have a beer; we sat at the counter, in front of a tv. The bartenders spoke to us not only to get information about beers but also to chat, which was very enjoyable for us being tourist, never being too chatty or annoying. They also let you taste a sip of your beer of choice if you wish so. Oh and last but not least, said beer stays cold on the ice strip along the counter! Will definitely come back here if I ever visit SLC again!

Nice place! More my style
they have a chill tail, frosty section on bar to set your glass, I had the Red Rock junior IPA. Not bad, a little on the light side.
Kristal Alfonso
Love this pub...it has been several years since my last visit to SLC and I definitely made it back here.

Super chill historic bar downtown. Went with some girlfriends on a Saturday night kind of late, but it wasn't crazy busy and loud like other bars we had walked past. The bartenders were all fantastic and the atmosphere was super cool. Didn't spend a lot of time there, but will definitely be back.
Alex Philipson
Old school bar with English pub vibes. A very long bar to sit at with a couple of tvs, and a very cool long strip of ice to keep your beverage frosty. The beer selection is huge and includes a lot of Utah based breweries. Highly recommend stopping in.
Teneka Rodriguez
Very nice relaxed and laid back atmosphere and the servers were very nice.
Eric Sedgwick
Went there on a Friday night. Bartenders are great. My drink was never empty for long before they were back asking what I needed.
Andrew Johnson
Best experience at beerhive pub. Got an old fashion and even tho they didn't have everything to make it, they improvised and made something delicious. The downstairs has 2 pool tables. Good vibes all around
Rachel Moze
Cool place, but not enough bartenders. Good luck getting a drink if you're not at the bar. I waited for 10 minutes, with them making eye contact several times, and then only got a drink because someone left and we could snag a spot at the bar. The cold top is a unique take! We'll be back but I hope service gets better.

Great little pub

We stopped in while on a walk. Staff was friendly, beer was cold, and surprisingly decent wine choices. Bar has a frozen plate in front to put your beer on so it stays cold. Laid back and a nice place to spend a few hours in the afternoon after work.
Priyanka Bhatia
You will be spoiled for choice here, for sure. The beer list is huge with a good variety of local, national, imports, microbrews, and curiosities! They do have a food menu... never ordered anything, but the pizzas look great!
Kareen Ann
Where people can just have a good chill during the night. A great place to hang in Downtown area. Beers, cocktails, spirits. Name it and you'll find it there. ✌

Dropped in for a late lunch and a few drinks after touring downtown Salt Lake City. Nice beer selection but the food leaves something to be desired. The pizza was similar to a frozen pizza. The hamburger was ok, not anything to go out of your way for. The service was great and the atmosphere was cozy and fun.
Lowkeyfoodie
If you're indecisive the beer menu will have you frazzled. Overall they have a huge selection of beers no matter your taste. One person ordered food at our table and the burger looked descent and they had no complaints. Don't expect to get a table or booth during peak times though. Service was good.
Maya
We weren't there at a busy time so we were able to be seated right away. It was a little hard to tell who our server was and it was a little while before we got menus. We didn't have to wait long for our beers, though. Pretty average place overall and a decent place to have some drinks and conversation. The prices were reasonable for pints.

THE bar in Utah?. I go here pretty often, and have to say it's never a disappointment. Basically, it has everything you would want in a bar or even restaurant: good location, friendly and fast service, wonderful food, entertaining/fun/warm atmosphere, and all the drinks you could want.

Personally, I don't really drink, but there are 3 pages of beer, ranging from $5-$40 per beer, and everything in between!

The food is amazing, and deserves the slightly higher price that it has. They run their food orders over to the Italian restaurant next door, so kudos to Michelangelo's on Main!

Pool tables and foosball are in the basement.
Ellipsoid
Good good (vegetarian). Try the veggie sandwich or the BTG pizza

Rude snobs. Small domestic beers are $5 to $11 in this super snob hole. I had one beer at noon one day last week just to connect to Wifi for a few minutes and was rudely yelled at by the bartender as I was leaving, "Next time! Why don't you tip your bartender?!" I told him he was rude and gave him the middle finger vowing to never go to this snobby elitist dive again. The only cool thing is the classy classic styling of teh place and the bar is lined with freezer coil elements making the bar have a strip of frosty coke looking, "ice," for your bottles and the selection is extensive.

During a previous visit a week earlier in the evening, I was told by a patron the seats were reserved on both sides of him, but got a seat on the side. I noticed he was guarding the seats to prevent other men or people from sitting next to him for it was his personal space. People are rediculous ignorant snobs more times than not in our country out of simply not knowing how to socialize, interact, and have a good time.

To the manager/owner; you suck. You have a seriously cool bar with amazing potential. But because of the mismanagement, it is arguably a place with some of the absolute worst service in town. You have 2 servers and 2 bartenders on a Saturday night?! We've been in here a handful of times now and every single time, the service has been painfully slow and everyone that works there acts grumpy and miserable like they hate their job. They are all clearly completely overwhelmed. It's too bad because the place could be very cool but the service is SO bad we will not be back. We've given it more than a fair chance. I hope someone that has a clue how to run a good bar will eventually take this place over and bring it to its potential. But right now... It's horrible and leaves me in a bad mood every time.
Lunardays
Good beer selection. Bad service.
Bob
This is a fun bar with good craft beers and a good menu. It is a classy place and our bartender knew his beers and was friendly and informative. This is a great downtown pub!
Chris Munt
Worst time ever there. The device was horrible. The server only ever stopped by when we could flag her down. The server would never write anything down so she had to come back 10 minutes after we would order something and ask what it was ok. I would never go back.
KA
Worst Place. Went here to celebrate a friends birthday, we had a larger group (10-15). As the night went on the bartenders and especially the waitress became inconsiderate and completely rude. At one point the waitress was trying to get us to leave. We will never come back, nor recommend this place to anyone.

Best find in slc if you love good beer. Fun bar with an ice edge to keep your beer cold.... Awesome and friendly bartender.
Bill
Great find. Wandering around downtown and found the pub. Milo provided excellent service, very knowledgeable about the beer selection. Fish and chips were excellent, nice light batter. Highly recommend for beer and pub grub.

The Beerhive now serves Italian and beer pub food from michelangelos next door. Excellent beers. Most of the bar tenders and servers are excellent. There is one douche but he is not ways there. He should not keep someone from checking out the best beer pub in town.

Awful, HORRIBLE Service. Bubbasdaddy is spot on in his review. Bartender is a douche. And thats an understatment.

Being downtown to watch the fireworks on New Years Eve night we decided to stop into the Beerhive Pub for a couple of drinks. We walked into a bar crowded with people and only 3 bartenders. Very understaffed. After waiting for 15 minutes without being acknowledged, a very generous couple sitting at the bar offered to flag down the bartender and get our party of 4 drinks. Awesome. Beers and drinks were delicious as always. We decided to order one more round of drinks before we took off to watch the fireworks.

After patiently waiting another 10 minutes, the bartender comes to ask for our drink order.

My girlfriend asks the bartender for 4 shots:
Bartender: "Hell No", Who wants a beer?
My girlfriend: Excuse me! Are you being serious?
Bartender: I don't have any glasses to put them in.

Moral of the story, unless you want to be treated like your a hindrance to the Almighty Beerhive Pub do not even think about stepping foot into this place.

Awful. This is the third time that I have been to this bar and the service was awful. Last night our waitress took forever, forgot beers and instead of saying when we got there that it was a busy night she disregarded us. Then as we were paying and leaving our tips she had the audacity to "apologize" for the bad service (cause she knew she sucked and just wanted us to leave her a good tip). Not to mention the girls boyfriend was there and she was paying attention to him way more than the customers.

I've worked in the food/bar industry. I get it, sometimes it's busy. If you truly cared about your customers and making a good tip you'd apologize upfront and do your best. Not take 15 minutes to bring us food menus after we asked twice. I won't be going to this bar again.
Howard Sublett
It's about selection. Beerhive has hundred of beers from around the world to choose from including several of the local micro brews. Most are in bottles, but they did have about 6 beers on tap. The waitress was knowledgable in recommending specific beer's for the night to all the guests.

The food was average-good but nothing to write home about. It's traditional pub food with the standard selections ( although they were out of fish-n-chips the night I was there) Burgers, Nachos, and the like, with a few higher end selections. Go for the clean atmosphere, friendly staff, and beer. Eat if you get hungry.
Sunnyc
Good beer bad food. How can you mess up bar food, really?! the burger was frozen costco quality, note they don't ask you how you want it cooked b/c it's like a fast food patty. the fish and chips was so greasy and the 'chips' were fast food quality too. ohhh well 40 bucks better spent at the drive thru. good beer!
New Okie
Awesome beer selection. Friendly waitress. But didn't try the food.
TT
Beer. Never had the food here, but frequented often with friends for drinks. Decent vibe, nice pool tables and a vast list of beers.

Great bar, excellent beer selection. Bartenders are very helpful.

My favorite bar in Salt Lake. Great beer, great food

Much love for Beerhive. After a grueling conference day with my mean boss (Mary) heh heh, she redeemed herself by taking me to the Beerhive. Oh, yea, I love the name in the Mormon-laws Beehive state, but was most impressed with the menu. Two big pages of bottled beers, everything you could ever hope for. At least 200 different brews of loveliness. I sampled the Deadhorse Ale and the Rooster seasonal. Favorite thing: the ice rail running around the bar where you can put your glass down so your brew stays as cool as the moment it was drawn from the tap or poured from the bottle. Bonus: historic photos of the Beerhive's block adorn the walls.
HeinousViolation
The only place for great beer on Sunday afternnoon in downtown SLC. Relaxed easy going atmosphere. Jimmy the bartender will kindly guide you through an endless selection of beer. One of only a few bars in the USA with and ice rail built in the bar, the Beerhive is a must!
Brokenrobot
Awesome beer selection, awful food.. I love the massive beer selection, ambiance and friendly service. The food from the restaurant next door is awful and nearly every plate smells like farts.
Scott
Title is shit. Poor, poor service. Had to ask for a refill on drinks 3 out of 4 drinks, ordered food that was never ordered, waited 15 minutes to pay tab, do you know how to be a bar? Will never be back, EVER!

Wish I could recommend, but can't. We had a good experience with the waitress, but the food was not good. We were recommended the pork sandwich. For $10 we thought it must be a large sandwich, but we were wrong. It is about as big as a half-Subway sandwich. For $10!? It tasted okay but not great. Value was poor. One of our waitresses was really cute (when we went downstairs) so that helped, but she wasn't as nice.
Nate
Great Food ... but the pricing is off. 9.25 for a pork sandwich...half a sandwich. I loved it. Maybe I'm a cheapo but they do wack-tax. My friend got the pork nachcos , for 9.50, which was excellent. Some how with tax they were $10.50 each. I think they hustle when it come time to pay

A little "too" popular?. Love this place, love the beer selection (try the LDS stout on nitro tap, amazing), haven't tried the food but I love Vienna Bistro so I'm sure I wouldn't change my mind on that.

The only thing that keeps me away is the crowd on bar nights. The people are great, but the building is very long and narrow with the bar stretching from front to back with relatively little room between it and the booths that line the opposite wall, so it gets very packed very easily. Navigating through the sea of people is next to impossible, and pretty dangerous when you're holding a beer. Finding a seat at the bar or a table is just as difficult if you show up any time after 10:30, especially when they close the patio in the winter. I personally think the owners should repurpose the basement and open it up to seating and/or a second bar so everybody wouldn't crowd the front half of the building. I imagine visiting this place for dinner can be a great experience, but the layout doesn't work well with the amount of people who show up on weekend nights.

It's perfect!. This is just the pub Utah needed; it's homey, sophisticated and casual, and they've got a great beer menu and food from next door restaurant Vienna Bistro.

My favorite feature: the frosty strip along the bar keeping your beers cold.
WWJDinSLC
An extensive beer menu, great atmosphere, & now delicious food provided by Vienna Bistro. Great German & Austrian dishes to accompany over 100 beers, this is a must for beer-lovers.
Newt
Great Beer Selection!. In a town not known for having a great selection of alcoholic beverages - this place does. And the food was delicious. It's Austrian, which I have to admit I'm not an expert in, so we started slow with the cheese and meat plate. Everything was amazing - the pickles that they bring out were so good we had the waitress write down the name of them. I continued with the Goulash, which I loved and many people tried the Chicken Roladen, which looked fantastic. I would absolutely recommend this place - and also suggest trying the Polygamy Porter (a dark ale) just because you're in Salt Lake City.
Food Good
Terrific addition to downtown. This place has a really good feel to it with a high ceiling and long, narrow main seating area. The beer selection is one of the best in the city and, unlike some other beer bars, they had every beer we ordered. There is a lager-drinker's dream along the bar: a frosted strip of metal to keep your light beer cold. The bartenders were knowledgeable and attentive. I think they outsource their food from an adjacent establishment but we were quite happy with the pork sandwich and potato salad. This is my favorite new place in SLC in a long time.

I ate lunch at Beerhive Pub today, and I can’t say much about the beer there, so don’t ask. I had a sandwich called “the Beerhive” and was piled high with so many cold cut meats, I had to wonder what wasn’t on the sandwich (I know, Mitch, even after we talked about this last night). That said, the bread was fantastic, and only when I noticed that the three others at my table were done eating, their plates gone and their cups empty, did I notice how LARGE the sandwich was. And worth every bite. For the rest, the atmosphere felt like a upscale bar, with a hoppin’ jazz melody playing over head that made me want to get up and shake what my momma gave me. A great way to start a week with two Mondays in it. Prices were decent, and I spent about $13 for a sandwich and carbonated beverage. Food: 6/10 Service: 7/10 Atmosphere: 7/10 Check out my other restaurant reviews here . The Beerhive has become a very popular spot to grab a pint, after all, they have more than 100 great microbrews from around the country...
SLClunches
With a built-in ice rail on the bar and food coming from next door at Vienna Bistro, Beerhive holds surprises around every corner.

Few things inspire me more than an afternoon beer with friends I truly love and the Beerhive in Salt Lake City offers the perfect room for such imbibing.

Surely by now you have heard of The Beerhive in downtown Salt Lake. You have likely heard about the iced bar to keep your beer cold, over 100 beer choices, great atmosphere, friendly staff.
