I don't know where to start. A few years ago this place was great, but in the last few months..and I hope some upper management types take notes the service and delivery are horrible! We live exactly 5 miles from the store. It takes on average an hour and a half sometimes more and then we are always meet by rude drivers despite the fact that we tip very well (Though shouldn't) Anytime I've bothered to call the store to address these issues I'm met with hostile employees and very angry disrespectful managers. Save yourself the hassle and order somewhere else. It's a shame because the food is good👎

The website stated my pizza would be delivered in 63-73 minutes, I knew I had plenty of time for the delivery and to eat it. I must stop eating at 7:00 PM for health reasons. The pizza still had not arrived 1-1/2 hours later. I called the 4th Street Salem, VA Papa Johns. They said "The app estimate is not here and has nothing to do with us. Our current wait time is 2 hours. Your order will finish baking in about 6 minutes and then will have to wait on a driver." She said they were very busy on the weekend and it wasn't their fault. Then I asked why didn't they at least call me to update the delivery time and see if I still wanted the order. "Well, that's not our fault." was the response. I told her that I order from this Papa Johns religiously and would not punish the driver's tip but I would stop ordering from their location.

Never got dipping saice for my cheese sticks. Called them and they said someone would bring some out. Its been an hour and nothing. Pretty much paid 30 dollars for a pizza and a 2 liter. Quit letting door dash run your orders..

For some reason they used Door Dash to deliver my order yesterday. The food is great and nothing wrong with the order, but my card number was stolen through that delivery company. I think if that company is going to be used that the client be notified first. Manager sounded as if she didn't care when I called her to tell her what happened. I was trying to warn her so more people did not get their cards stolen.

This is the absolute worst Papa John's I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I've worked at 5 different PJs over the past decade, so I've seen the good and the bad sides of how they can be ran, but the Salem store is mind-numbingly bad. I would never EVER order from this place after dealing with them for 3rd party deliveries. If they have even a couple of orders on the screen, they deem it necessary to ignore you for at least 5 minutes when you walk in. They let their phones ring indefinitely. They don't wear their masks the majority of the time. I've only seen maybe 2 people out of the 100+ I've worked with make pizzas slower than them. I've had to cancel numerous doordash runs because they say it'll take them over an hour to have it ready, instead of pushing the order out since the customer is already on site like any reasonable store would do. There is literally no excuse for any of it. I've also heard them lie to customers multiple times about various things that are blatantly untrue, mostly coming from a girl who I've watched catch an attitude with countless people in the store. I really don't understand how this place is still in business.

WOW. I cannot give zero stars. 6:55p ordered and at 8:30p, nothing. I called 2x and was told the 1st time, without any chance to speak, “You might as well go somewhere else, you wanna cancel” *click* I didn’t even know what to say. I called back, and was just hung up on. My wife called the corporate line, and was told they would call the store. We were told the store was closed because no one was answering. At 8:45 while the posted hours for delivery are 1:40a.They can’t cancel the order from there, for whatever reason, so we have to wait for someone from management (of the store) to get back with us about the pending charge to her card. Never again. Not any Papa Johns.

We placed an order at 12:18 PM. The app said we should be receiving our pizza within 29 minutes. An hour went by, there’s no food delivered. I called the store number twice to check on my order, yet no one answered my calls. I tried the third time and got to talk to a lady there. She was having an attitude when I complained about the delay - “we are making it right now and you have to wait for another 45 minutes”. If you apologized and took responsibility for your tardiness, it would have been different. I don’t understand why you can run a business while not being able to keep your words and treating your customers poorly. Farewell Papa John!

The quality has really taken a nosedive over the last couple months. Whereas historically pizzas would be delivered before the end of the timeframe, it seems like any more I'm waiting at least 30+ minutes on a pizza. At least this time the driver had the decency to knock; the last delivery driver just left it in the hallway of my apartment complex (I was told I would have a free pizza next time but of course that wasn't true).
