Styrofoam cups, styrofoam plates and plastic silverware. This is not a ramen restaurant, there are two poor choices of ramen and no protein other than a shredded egg to put in it. The ramen flavor was much akin to tip ramen out of a package. The Tonkatsu menu item was lackluster kind of edible. Would not come back.

Great food! The owner was easy to talk to. Fun atmosphere, and completely authentic, glad i came here. I had to edit after i finished eating here. Absolutely the best pot stickers in all of salem. The Katsudon is just delicious. Love this guys food.

Driven by this place for years and never went in. Exterior strip mall appearance makes it unappealing. Front entry and the restaurant itself improve upon that some but not much. The food however is fabulous. Predominately Chinese cuisine with some other Asian cuisines represented on the menu. Massive portions, lots of custom options, and it's served fast. Great prices too. Was pleasantly surprised and would happily return too. Seem to have a strong to-go business so be sure to grab a to-go menu when you dine in. You'll want to eat here again.

I just moved to Salem and wasted no time stopping in and I'm so glad I did. I'm so in love with the food, but more so, the owners. They are so friendly and welcoming. The food is good, but the couple that owns the place are what truly make this place special for me. If it's your first time, they are more than happy to explain the menu and make suggestions. Every time I've come in, I'm warmly greeted and am treated to fantastic conversation which makes the dining experience one of the best for me. If you've been undecided about trying this place, please don't put it off any longer. You won't regret it!

I have been coming here for years with my family and the food has always been amazing. I love how “clean” tasting everything is and with a sensitive stomach, I never have any problems. The tonkastu and chicken katsu are breaded and fried to perfection, probably the best katsu in Portland or Salem, and the Curry Croquettes are awesome if you want a meatless option. The owners recognize me as soon as I walk in even if it’s been years since they’ve seen me! Love that it’s never too busy and happy to support a longtime local business.

AMAZING! My first time here the owner was very helpful in helping us figure out what we were ordering and selecting something appropriate for our young children. He was very confident in the quality of his dishes, and rightfully so! Homemade teriyaki was the best we have ever had.
Friendly and polite, we had a great overall experience.

I love the authentic Japanese Ramen at Ramen Ichiban. Everything they make is fresh, traditional, and delicious. They also serve the best egg roll I’ve ever tasted. This has become a semi-regular spot for me. Don’t forget to try the gyoza!

I had high hopes and a hunger for some Japanese food. The staff is friendly and greeted us as we walked in. I noticed the decor and furniture is outdated, no biggie. I ordered several things off of the menu and sat at one of the tables. We sat there patiently waiting for food and two people walked in several minutes apart and ordered their food to go. They received their food within a few minutes. I sat there and waited for a bit before ours arrived. I realized that this place wasn't the cleanest place I've ever been in. Dirty tables, old stained carpets, ripped rugs. I can see why people wouldn't want to eat inside of this place. When our food arrived, it was all on Styrofoam plates and we used plastic forks. This isn't at all what I expected. The shoyu ramen broth was good. After sucking down the broth, I noticed the bowl was heavily used and stained brown from use and age. It was off putting. The rest of the food was okay at best. It was nice to try this place, but I don't think I'll be back.
