Best duck around. Don't let the light rail construction stop you from heading over to University Ave. in St. Paul to pick up some amazing Vietnamese BBQ duck - the best $20 you can spend in the Twin Cities. While there is a table should you feel an absolute need to start chowing down as soon as you have the duck in hand, the preferable option is to take it home, open a nice bottle of Pinot Noir and enjoy! Do your part to keep this business open and thriving through the current construction mess - you won't be sorry!

Tai Hoa is the best hole-in-the-wall Vietnamese BBQ joint in the Twin Cities. They make excellent roast duck & roast pig; crispy skin, tender meat, perfect seasoning.
Ask for uncut duck if you're used to, or prefer the way ducks & chickens are usually cut in the US with the legs, thighs & wings whole and the breast & back sliced.
The traditional Asian method of cutting fowl into small chunks with a cleaver, bones & all, is fine, too, especially if you're going to use the duck as an ingredient in a noodle or rice disk, or traditional soup.
Well, it's not a lunch spot. It's more of a butcher shop that serves some traditional Vietnam sides and a couple breads. But the meat is good! Beware...they only take cash!
Tai Hoa!
My family's favorite place to get roast duck. A small family owned business filled with plenty of options to get.
CASH ONLY! Just remember to get cash at a nearby ATM before coming by. After that you're all set to get yourself from great BBQ! A friendly mom and pop shop , they're literally there everyday my wife and I come in.
Best Chinese roast pork in Minnesota in my opinion. Ordering maybe intimidating for English only speakers, but service is fast and friendly. Also bring cash no credit cards accepted.
Cash only! I love this place. It's the very definition of no frills and that's never a negative thing for me. You go up to the counter and tell them exactly what you want and DONE. The prices are fair and very comparable to other Asian BBQ spots. Fair warning, come here when you want to indulge, it's greasy and fatty. In other words, pure PERFECTION.
My favorites are the roast duck (vit quay) and roast pork (heo quay). I've tried making my own crackling roast pork at home and it just cannot compare, period. I've given up entirely. The BBQ pork (xa xiu) has been dryer than other spots I go to, so I usually skip it. Beyond the BBQ meat they have an assortment of deli items. If you enjoy Vietnamese food you should definitely explore it!
One pound of cuttlefish and a whole roast duck! Yum!
Really nifty hole in the wall spot. The roast duck was easily some of the best I've had.
As a note the place is cash only so make sure to keep cash on hand
