My husband wanted to celebrate his birthday here because they had unique vegan options and were extremely affordable (cheaper than most similar take-out oriented restaurants). We love Chinese food but had no idea this little innocuous place would be SO delicious. I had the hot braised tofu and he had the Mongolian tofu (see photos). Neither dish was one available in our hometown (Cincinnati, Ohio). Neither were particularly spicy, either, but both were ridiculously delicious. I had a hard time eating it slowly enough not to burn my tongue. The half dishes were $6.50 and the whole dishes were $8.50. This is among the cheapest Chinese food we've ever eaten but among the best flavor-wise. Both of us left with full and happy stomachs.
I should note that we dined in. The place was well air-conditioned, cute, comfortable aesthetic, and clean. The tables and chairs could use some updating eventually, but we personally don't care about that kind of thing. The woman at the counter was super friendly and willing to answer questions about the dishes. Dining in meant we served on real plates with real silverware, which was a surprise considering I figured we'd get take-out boxes and plastic forks. Each dish came with white rice, as is standard, and their fortune cookies were the quality ones (both of flavor and fortunes). Although we ate inside, there are some tables available outside as well.
We loved this place and wish we could transport it home. We will try to make another stop here before we leave for Cincinnati. You are lucky to have this wonderful gem of a restaurant in Fenton! A Taste of China receives my highest recommendation.

Good food even though it wasn’t the “traditional American” version I’m used to.
It’s very inexpensive! And the restaurant was clean and the lady behind the counter was friendly.
I ordered Cashew chicken lunch special (default comes with dark meat; $1 up-charge for white meat). My meal was good and the chicken was fried (default option), however, this isn’t the traditional cashew chicken I’m used too. That’s the only reason I didn’t give the restaurant a 5 star rating. I think since I ordered at lunch time, maybe they prep a similar cook technique for all meals and add sauces as desired?!
Again, it was good and there’s plenty of food for just $5.50!

Been going here for 20 years and I've never had a bad meal or one complaint. That's something these days. Good family owned business, Jeannie & Richard always give you friendly service, and food fast with a smile. A solid community business in Affton.

Best Chinese food in SoCo... comparable to restaurants in Chicago Chinatown if not better in some cases.

Best in Affton! We never had a bad meal in the fifteen years or so of going here.

One of my favorites, try the hot braised sauce sometime.
This is my favorite local Chinese restaurant in the St. Louis metro and I’ve been to these restaurants a lot.
It gets bonus points for being in an old Taco Bell, and the husband and wife are always nice.
I look forward to eating here especially after being out of town for a few weeks because of work.
No where else is A taste of China so Unique.

Been going to this place for years and the food has not changed from the first time I've been here still excellent and very good I highly recommend you stop in an try them out for yourself plus the prices are reasonable not overly expensive. They take credit n debt cards as well as you know the ever so popular $Cash$ to. The parking is adequate and the seating arrangements inside the restaurant is adequate as well it's not all that big as you would expect but it is clean and the foods awesome

This is my favorite Chinese food place. It's always clean and the owners are attentive and fairly nice. The rest of my family loves it as well. Kudos to a taste of China👍

Generally better prices than others nearby even taking into consideration recent price increases. Food has always been good and prepared fresh over the years I've ordered from here. Recently decided to try the moo goo gai pan. Literally translated as chicken with mushrooms. Not sure what happened but my dish had every vegetable except mushrooms? Lets be clear, its not enough to stop me from patronizing the establishment. But it'd sure be nice having confidence that a commonly prepared dish has appropriate indgredients.

Best Chinese Restaurant around. We have been going here for years and never disappoints. Fried Rice, Crab Rangoon, Potstickers and St.Paulie Sandwich is our favorite.

I had a half order of chicken fried rice and crab rangoons. Both were very good. It's a lottle longer wait for the food than i'm used to for chinese, though.

Stopped by just to grab a quick bite to hold us over for dinner, and we're pleasantly surprised. For a little hole in the wall type place, very tasty food.

Best. Crab. Rangoon. Ever.. I've been eating at Taste of China for the last 5 years and they never fail to satisfy.
As for their Crab Rangoon, well, I like mine crabby instead of sweet. Theirs is perfection.

I'll drive from Manchester without hesitation when the Rangoon craving strikes. Yummy.
Try their Crab Fried Rice. With bamboo shoots and water chestnut added. Crazy good.

-----19 Dec, 2011-----

Eager to please. I judge a Chinese restaurant by its Crab Rangoon. I've worked my way through some of our city's offerings and A Taste of China shines above the rest so far. Texture is perfect, and there's no unwanted sweetness to it. Heaven.

The owners are also willing to adjust ingredients and spicing to taste. My favorite dish is Crab Fried Rice with water chestnuts and bean sprouts added.
