Review Steak 'n Shake - Saint Louis

I can say I was honestly surprised at the cleanliness and atmosphere now that the dine in experience has greatly changed at Steak n Shake. Ordering was super easy at the front on the kiosks, our food came out fairly quickly even though we were there at a busy time. It was easy to grab and refill our drinks and condiments ourselves without having to wait for service. Everything was clean, the food was fresh, and overall a really nice experience for fast food! We have gone to that location several times drive thru, take out, and dine in and we have yet to have a bad experience. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful as well!

They got a new owner and this place has gotten a lot better. I plan on going back often. We used to go all the time and the service went down hill. I guess they got a new power and now the place is a ton better. Give it a shot if you haven't lately.

Food was excellent for the price. I had low expectations but was happy when I received a well put together burger and fries for a reasonable $5. It also came out much quicker than what I typically experience at steak and shakes. Overall a great location to stop in for a bite to eat

It is 9 pm, there are 2 woman working and busting their butts to get out dining room and drive thru orders. There was a bit of a wait yes but you have to respect the fact that they were getting food out, hot and fresh one of the best Steak n Shake burgers and hot fries I've had in a very long time.

I'm mostly giving the 5 stars due to the service I received. I wish I knew the girls name but she was fantastic. She might remember me, I had 17 sodas 😉

Drive through only. Moved along very quickly & server at window was very nice & pleasant. Enjoyed the experience. Food greatly improved since the last time I was there, which has been a long time ago because the food was terrible.

Food is always great, workers were kind, regardless of them working on a Friday night. Only thing is that my fries didn't seem to be completely full, other than that, very good.

W restaurant tbh I love steak and shake. I also love Tyler Shulte. Frisco melt Is the best.

the value of steak and shake is insane Our family of 4 ate there for 22 Dollars!!! this particular one was not the cleanest but food was amazing

Finally, they have at least 1 chicken item back. Some of us can not eat beef due to allergies, like making it here for their version of happy hour

Worst place ever. Service was deplorable rude, lazy waitress. One and only positive thing was the hostess. On a Saturday lunch time that close to the zoo is no time to have lazy uncaring staff. Short round dark skin female I personally witnessed her ignore two different customers other then our party. Took over 25 minutes to get our orders taken we recieved chilli before or drinks which were not right but we were trying to be patient so just took what she brought but, 25 minutes later when we still hadn't recieved our food and was obvious we needed a towel as there was water spilt everywhere and she walked right past us with towel and empty dish tub in her freaking hand that was it . We walked out. There is a very racist vibe from this waitress she is clearly in the wrong profession.

Arrived at Steak n Shake and stood up front for 8 minutes before we were even acknowledged by an employee (restaurant was not busy/full). We saw our waitress once and that was when she came to take our drink and food order. Had to get up to ask for silverware, napkins, and ketchup (which we requested when our food was dropped off). We were about 3/4 done with our meals when we realized we had never received our milk shakes. They eventually brought 1 of 2 two we ordered out...we received the 2nd when we were done with our meals. Had to get up AGAIN just to request our bill. We will drive the extra couple miles to a different location. We will never be back. No one has a clue of what to do including the manager.

This is the most racist steak and shake I've ever had the displeasure of being in. Because I'm white it's okay for our black server to ignore us for black customers. Wow.. Good way to represent your state. Don't think I'll visit again.

It took 20 + minutes to get a waitress. Order took 45 minutes which did include our shakes which took another 20 minutes to get. Our food was cold Napkins must come out of the waitresses paycheck since we only were given 1 for each of use.

After sitting through a 5 hour road closure on I44 my wife and I, both very hungry, stopped at this Steak and Shake. We ordered Chili Mac Supreme, mine with extra meat. What we were served had NO CHILI, was barely warm and not enough meat between them to upset a member of PETA. Actually it tasted like they ran out of chili and dumped ketchup on pasta. After doctoring mine with hot sauce and parmesan cheese I ate it. My wife had very little of hers. Shortly after the last bite of mine the waitress came by, great timing, to ask how the food was. I told her. She explained that Chili Mac didn't have chili but was pasta with red sauce and chili meat. I pointed out that most people call that spaghetti with meat sauce and their sauce tasted like ketchup and had less meat than an Ellen DeGeneres dinner party. She offered me a bowl of chili. I pointed out that I was not hungry. She offered a desert. I wasn't any hungrier than I was at her first offer. She never offered to adjust the price of our meal. The cashier asked how our and meal was and seemed shocked when I told her. I now know why the Steak and Shake by my Oswego Illinois home closed. You can't serve mediocre food from a deceptive menu and expect people to eat there more than once.

Horrible service! Food cold. Told Manager about it and the reply was "sorry about that". Never ever go here!!! You have been warned. Oh wait the bathrooms are so gross you would rather go squat in the woods.

This Steal 'n Shake gets worse and worse. Tonight we were there for 20 minutes and did not even get our drink order taken so we left and went to the one at Elm and Watson with only one waitress we had our food within 22 minutes.

Greeted Promptly, Staff Very Nice and Professional, Restaurant & Restrooms Very Clean.

I think � their shakes & fries � were delicious & my tea � was kinda of really cold to drink and my mom's cherry � coke was delicious � as well.

Took 40 minutes in drive-thru for a double with just ketchup & fries 😡

We were taken to a table that had not been cleaned and then it was cleaned. After waiting 25 minutes I finally asked a bus person why we had not been waited on when tables that were seated 20 minutes after us already had their orders taken and drinks. She disappeared and told us someone would be with us right away. Wrong, ten minutes later no one had come to take our order or even say, I'll be right back to take your order. I notified headquarters whose only respond was, we hope you come back, we will talk to the manager on duty at that time. It wasn't the first time I walked out of Steak 'n Shake but I doubt I will ever go back.

Good burger, good fries, good service! Bacon Cheeseburger was yummy!

Food was good but the service was bad . We sat down and 15 later we are ask what do we want so we order and she said your drinks will be right out 10 min later we got are drinks . And she got are order wrong but at that point I'm like the heck with it I will eat it I'm starving. Food good service bad . Hope they work on it .

Took forever to get waited on. Food came but we didn't get our shakes til we were almost done eating despite asking about them several times. Food was GREAT....delicious. However service was terrible!

Service has been declining of late. People must learn to listen when an order is placed. The worst part ins the treatment of a friend and her two children recently. One of her kids fussed for less than a minute after they had to wait a long time to be sitted. Then a waitress came by and threw crackers at the child. She also made comments to the child that were not nice. This is so unacceptable on so many levels. You guys just lost another customer.

It would be faster to shoot the cow, butcher it and stick it on the grill! Slowest service in the Midwest but the drive thru is moving!

Our waitress was great, good good. I feel like management needs some work though. There was a fight while we were there between 2 men and a waitress. Her toddler son was present and the police had to be called. It was shocking to see no management even apologize for the scene, considering all waitresses ran out side and it took awhile longer to finally get our food.

DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS LOCATION.......Anytime waitresses are allowed to throw packs of crackers at toddlers who cried for a few seconds because THEY were having a bad. She's just lucky their mom was there and not their Nana. Lowsy Customer Service......

We love Steak'n Shake! We just ate at the one on Lindbergh in St. Louis, and was waited on by Ali. What a sweetheart! We aren't from this area, so it's our first time here. We were seated fairly quickly considering how busy the place was. We received our drinks and food quickly, it was correct and delicious! Next time we are in town, we will eat here again.

Nothing like waiting 45 minutes in a drive thru to find your order incomplete when you get home. There was no dressing for my salad and I was missing a side of seasoned fries I was really looking forward to trying. Although I enjoyed the singing of Adele's "Hello" by an employee that was audible from inside my car, I would rather you enjoy your job while doing it correctly. Thanks for stealing my money, Steak n Shake. And before anyone suggests it, it is not my job to itemize my order before driving off. That is a service I'm paying for (and waiting patiently for) at the window.

I just had an incident at Steak N Shake in Sunset Hills yesterday. I was having breakfast with my mom. Waitress was very loud, rude, and outspoken Instead of greeting us she yelled across the room "hang on, I'm coming"...then after a moment yelled "go ahead and sit down". We sat and waited a while. She was complaining loudly to coworkers how electric was off everywhere and how slammed she was....I counted 12 customers! Finally she came and asked if we were ready to order ..still no menus and another wait for her to walk back to her station and stop to have conversation with coworker. Gave us menus, stood over us talking loudly, waiting for us to decide. After another too long wait she brought water for me and coffee for mom. When waitress asked if mom ordered decaf, lady at next table thought she was asking her and said no, thank you. Waitress told lady "I know you dont want decaf...I wasn't talking to you. Mom had asked for water too...waitress loudly told her she did not. I tried to give my water to mom and waitress reached at same time knocking glass over...then exclaimed loudly "I didnt do that, did you see that, she did it (referring to me)". Lady at next table rolled eyes at waitress and walked out. Waitress asked me why lady left..."did you spill water on her too" ( water was only on our table). Waitress then went to counter, sat down and complained how she was sick and shouldnt even be there. Finally, food came out...cold...and still no water. Mom again asked for water so she could take her meds...I jokingly said bring mine in a kiddie cup. Waitress replied "that's the only way you'll get it"....not joking. We ate, paid and talk to manager. His only reply was "She's having a bad day." No apology. No tip was left and will not return to that store.

Terribly slow service for take out shakes! You might be shorted staff, but at least talk to your customers. Those seated and drive thru-got their drinks. +45 minute wait is a joke!

Service sucks and waited longer than you should have.

Worst service I ever experienced. Went through late night (12:30am), had to take my order three times. Still didn't get it right. The burgers and wrappers were all greasy and looked like they were just thrown together. The computer was "supposedly" down that's why the took our order three times. Didn't get a receipt. When I lodged a complain, the manager called and left a voice apology. No other follow up done. She called during a time she knew I wouldn't be available. I told to call before 1 pm and she called me after 2 pm.
