Federhofer's Bakery

I came in to try out their donuts. They didn't have much of a selection, and I was told their fryer broke, and they had to change the recipe on some of their donuts and couldn't make others. The butter horn and Danish with the pecans were both excellent, but the regular donuts were pretty middle of the road. The apple fritter was ok, but I like mine with crispy edges, and this one was more like the honey bun style they sell at Schnucks. I'll give them a try for other bakery items in the future as I've heard this bakery is excellent, but as far as donuts go, I feel there are better shops in town. Not bad, but I can't give it more than 3 stars until I feel up to trying other bakery they sell. *edit* They may not have had top notch donuts the day I tried them, but I gave them another chance for a Christmas cake and cookies. The Santa cake was the cat's pajamas, it was so cool! It tasted as good as it looked. The cookies were also phenomenal, I only wish I had bought more because they were gone fast. Federhoffer's knows their baked goods!

I ordered a birthday cake for my husband's special day. The staff was very accommodating and friendly, despite the order being last-minute. I was extremely pleased with them. They were able to work with me on a design that they could get done in the limited time and were honest about what could not be done. I will be returning for that reason alone. Plus, the cake was excellent.

This is the best bakery! Over the years the quality is just as good as it was when I was coming here 30 years ago. That's rare. Still ran by the family, which is nice to come in and get to say hello while shopping! Fresh baked bread and delicious pastries that never disappoint... my latest favorite is the blueberry danish. Open 7 days a week so stop by soon!

I am sure their reputation is all any local would need, but as a visitor from out of town, I try to come here anytime I am in the St. Louis area. They have just about everything you could think of to choose from (cakes, cookies, donuts, breads, and more)! The service was excellent every time I have been to this bakery. And I feel the prices are so fair for fresh baked products. As many other reviewers have mentioned, it’s hard to find this kind of a special place anymore so it is truly a place to be appreciated.

Old time traditional bakery. A little like stepping back in time, as there are very few of these that still exist. Take out place only - no seating. The treats were delicious and reasonably priced, which most bakeries are not these days. Had a wonderful chocolate fudge cake and delicious cupcakes. Creative selection of cookies. Go early for the best selection.

Went here as a quick stop before hitting the road traveling all day. A small crowd was inside, so I took a number and was served in less than a minute or two. So many choices of fresh things to choose from it's ridiculous. Got some cookies, pastries & a piece of cake and only spent $23. Staff is knowledgeable about what they're selling and friendly. Quick service, great snacks, and inexpensive pricing. Would definitely come back.

A real old fashioned bakery in Affton! At one time you could find neighborhood bakeries like this all over Saint Louis. Today you have to seek them out. This is not to be missed! The danishes, donuts, stollens, soft, chewy bread and some of the best cookies around await you all around the store. They also bake delicious custom decorated cakes! A Saint Louis treasure on Gravois!
