Review Racanelli's Pizza - Saint Louis

Athena Baez-Jusino
Many places claim to have NY style pizza but don't really make the cut for me. Going to Racanelli's definitely took me back to my childhood in Brooklyn.

The employees were all super kind and accommodating to our party! They also were able to accommodate my dietary request (no cheese on a portion of a shared pizza). Definitely will be back!

Great New York style pizza! The Ceasar salad was good as well, the dressing had a great flavor. Garlic knots were awesome, not over powering like some places. The only problem today is it was 100 degrees outside, so very warm inside. Definitely will return. They could use an upgrade on the decor as well, brighten the place up a bit. Food though was delicious.

While the place could use a little fixing in places (and stronger A/C), it was spacious, comfortable, and the young gentleman who took our order was very friendly and helpful. We ordered a meat lovers 16" pizza, a tea bottle and two soda cans, running $35 before our tip. The pizza was large, super filling, and delicious down to the crust. My 3-year-old, who can barely eat a whole slice from take out pizza chains, ate nearly an entire slice, saying "I can never be full, it's too good!". She has never said this for my cooking.. If you're in Kirkwood, it's worth the stop! They open at 11am and are right across from the School of Rock.

The pizza is amazing. A unique flavor that is true to New York style pizza. It was my first time and it became my new favorite. The garlic knots were so-so. A little dry and tough, but maybe that is New York style. Try the pizza at least once.

Food was great. Not what I would call new york pizza, but its still very good. Service was excellent. Windows need a good cleaning, and it was very warm inside. Was sweating by the time we were done eating. Will be going back when we get the chance.

I'm just a guy from Brooklyn who moved out to the Midwest three years ago, so finding decent pizza around here is my life's mission. Lucky for me, I've finally found it! Hot, fresh, delicious, genuine New York style pie, foldable just the way God intended. I live about 20 minutes from here, but I would willingly drive even further out to get a slice of home as good as this. Definitely worth every penny!

We ordered the Racanelli's Deluxe. It was really good! On a Friday at dinnertime, they were busy and short staffed, so it took about an hour to get our food. We didn't mind. It was delicious. The staff was friendly and courteous. We will be back soon.

Fun little place where you can buy a slice if you like. Kinda New York City style pizza. Yum 😋

Good slice of pizza it's worth the wait there short staff so the hours or not completely what Google maps says you have to call and order and they bring it to the door to you. This slice brought so many memories me has a kid in new jersey walking from the grocery store with my grandmother and she always got me a slice of cheese before going back to the apartment and this slice surely brought good memories thanks for serving good 🍕

I would pay $20/person for this again. So amazing!!!! Crust is super crispy... don't know how to explain... the most "authentic" tasting pizza I've ever had and I've been a lot of places. Cedar salad is perfect too!

Really good pizza spot, I have to try a few of the other Nyc pizza shops in st louis before I decide my favorite. I ordered mine online with no problem, I am not sure if they sell slices but most nyc pizza is sold by slice as well so if your in the area worth a stop by if you like nyc pizza.

This New York style pizza place is nestled between several small businesses, perfect place to stop in eat and relax after neighborhood shopping. The storefront has large glass windows to people watch. Pizza was delicious, can't wait to get back.

Absolutely the best pizza, I'm from the east cost, NY, Philadelphia area and this is Absolutely the best pizza around. They're always busy, but very friendly. It's worth the wait.

I visited this location this afternoon and had a very unpleasant experience. After completing our order I walked over to the soda machine to get our drinks and the CO2 wasn't working properly. No big deal. I informed the staff and one member attempted to fix it, then another employee. Neither of them could. Still not a big deal, but then it was 15 minutes before the next employee got to it. And it still wasn't fixed when our food was out so I went to the counter and asked if we could have a couple cans of soda so, and I was snapped at that they would be out to fix the machine in a minute and I should sit down. Halfway through my food the employee who said he could fix it finally came out from behind the counter and looked at it for the first time. He worked on it a little bit with his food prep gloves on, then walked back into the kitchen and prepared food without changing gloves or washing his hands. He was in and out of the closet multiple times and did not once change gloves. But neither did the other employees who worked on it and swiftly returned to the kitchen. Not once did I hear or see the sink run as if hands were being washed. And all three employs were handling the soda machine pieces and prepping food. As I was down to just the crust of my pizza one of the employees comes to our table and offers cans of soda because they aren't sure how long the machine will be out. Then when the machine is fixed, the employee who presented himself as the manager exits the closet and announces to my table that the machine is fixed. Doesn't apologize for the wait. So my mother asked him if he was going to change his gloves before returning to the prep table and he retorted in a sour manner that he and his restaurant are up to code and that the way things are done are fine. At which point we call out the other unsanitary practices we witnessed and he snaps back that his restaurant received a 97% and grade A from the health department and they way things are done are fine. What he was unaware of is my mother is certified through the same health department, and believe me things were not fine.

Allegedly New York style. Ha. Don't believe a word of it.. We stopped by the Kirkwood Racanelli's, lured in by their promise of authentic New York style pizza. (Fairly) newly from Connecticut (where any old pizza joint, living in the shadow of New York, has to know their stuff), we are used to fabulous pizza. To be honest, we have had difficulty adjusting to the "pizza" found here. Unfortunately, Racanelli's will not be satisfying need.

First the good news. They sell slices. And the slices are about the right size, maybe a bit small, and foldable.

The bad: the crust was flavorless. No doughy goodness. Texture was acceptable but a little cracker crust like. The sauce was almost non-existent, which was fine, since it didn't have any flavor. We don't know where they are getting their pepperoni, but it must be from the same place they're getting their sauce.

Really Good Service & Food. From the moment I walked in I was greeted with a warm smile. This was my first time trying Racanellis and the pizza was really good. I got it fast and it was hot. Will be back!

Large = Medium. We have been ordering from Racanelli's for a couple years now and the past 3 occassions osmehting has been wrong. We ordered carry out on our last occassion and upon pick up noticed the large pizza looked smaller. When we asked why, we were told the pizza maker didnt stretch the dough enough. On top of that the pizza was overly done. No apology and they "politley" took $1 off the total.

Given this was the 3 time somehting had gone wrong, we sent John Racanelli an e-mail exlplaining the 3 occassions. We were not looking for anything and just wanted to express our frustration. No response.

Nicely run "family" restaurant.

Great east coast style pizza. This place has fantastic pizza without crazy prices.
my family's all time favorite is the "white" pizza, garlic sauce only and chicken and then cheese. no tomato sauce at all. it is amazing if you love garlic. all our relatives from both coasts love this pizza also.

Yum. That's all. Just yum. I luv the ny style. The service was great and the upkeep was fine. I realise that this contradicts the first review made, but maybe the staff was short handed. Try not to be so biased.

Good Pizza - Horrendous Service. Pizza was actually very good. Nice crisp crust and flavorful sauce. Good NY style restaurant.

Now on the bad. Service was dreadful. Visited on a Friday for lunch, and it took us almost an hour to get our pizza once it was ordered. Many groups behind us got their pizza before us. When the pizza came, it was put in front of us and no plates were with it. We had to go up and wait in line to ask. Inexcusable!

Interior and exterior were dirty (un-bussed tables, no clean silverware, piles of leaves on the patio and near the front door - it was late December mind you).

There are better pizza options in Kirkwood!

The pizza itself honestly didn’t look too impressive but you know what they say about judging on looks. Unfortunately it tasted about as mediocre as it looked. It was fairly greasy and in general unremarkable. To add, they didn’t have ketchup (or so said the person who served us our pizza).
