Where do I start..... Everything about this place is amazing! I am Sicilian and I have always wanted to find a restaurant like this, and finally I found it!!! The menu will absolutely blow you away. The details are great and all the food is fresh. The ambience is very intimate. But the food!!!! Soooo good!!!!! This is a new gem of Saint Louis and it's a must see and taste!!!!

I had Peno cater a party this weekend. Everything was top-notch and delicious. I didn't have to worry about a thing. Everyone ate like kings and loved it: The meatballs, eggplant, crostinis and seafood platter. It was amazing.

Absolutely one of the best dining experiences I've had in quite some time. The food is exceptional in this small but exquisite place. If you are looking for a new place to try, this is it!

Top notch destination dining! Quirky, unfussy, laid back, unpretentious experience. A must try bright spot with a delightful patio for those cool, breezy evenings.

I love Peno and I have had almost everything there, I consistently order the spaghetti bolognese and ask them to add a meatball and they always accommodate any special wishes that I have. This place is great, not only the food, but all of the people involved.

I had the trout and Julie had the mushroom ravioli. Our 20-month old had both and for a brief moment on a Wednesday evening near the intersection of Wydown and Handley we three were in Italian heaven.

The Pasta Carbonara was ridiculously tasty! Great service as well. They made us a special fig appetizer, just because. Great place Pepe!

We had dinner here in early December. The food was so good, as was the service and ambiance. Definitely check this restaurant out! I had spaghetti and clams and my friend had the lamb. The owner and chef, Pep outdoes any other restaurant in the city.

Really loved this place. Great Service. Very clean. We snuck in before the busy dinner hour so didn't need a reservation but it is small so I'm sure you'd need one during busy hours. The meatball appetizer is just amazing, so this time I skipped the appetizer and got spaghetti and meatballs. Oh my. It was off the charts. You have to try these. My husband loves their Veal Meatloaf he said he's never had anything like it. This is a hidden gem in Clayton.

I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. From the moment we arrived, the waiter and owner were incredibly welcoming and friendly. For dinner, I ordered the seafood stew, and I was blown away by the amazing taste and generous portion size. The only thing that could be improved is ensuring that there are no little crushed shells or fish bones in the dish (though I know that can be difficult with seafood!). Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to try some delicious Southern Italian cuisine.

Fabulous!! The owner/chef Pepe was so nice and personable. He found out it was my son's birthday and a vegetarian and he sent out several appetizers for us to try since this was our first time there. We will definitely be back!!! Amazing cuisine!

This place is a great neighborhood restaurant. The food is great! I had the lamb shank and it was delicious. I also had the beet and feta salad. They could use a few more wines on their menu. Parking is tough. But in that area you can park on the street.

We came to Peno after a recommendation from a family member that they offered authentic yet upscale Italian cuisine. It was the winter time, so I was especially pleased to see that their outdoor deck was open. They inclosed it and had very well-placed gas heaters as well. Their wine and beer list is well curated and not overwhelmingly large. They also serve wonderful table bread. For dinner, I got the Tagliatelle with sausage, prosciutto, roasted red pepper, pistachio, and tomato broth. This dish is almost more like soup than a pasta dish but it tasted great. The sausage was cooked and spiced to perfection. We got Italian Wedding Cake for dessert, that was not stellar but it was definitely cool to see it on the menu. They also have a really cool space inside. One thing I will note is that the Parkin situation at this restaurant is not great. We had to park on the street and it was a decent walk to our car after we were done eating. All in all, this place was really good and I will be back!

All the food is yummy and locally sourced. The flavor pallets of the chef are insane. The menu seems to have a large variety and all the food options are good. The beet&goat cheese salad is savory and sweet! The calamari isn’t fried it’s pan seared and spicy! I enjoyed the fisherman stew which was jam packed with flavors and ingredients. There are many pasta options and the palermo is off the chart. It came with hand made sausage and many more ingredients our lovely server told us all about. The pizza isn’t too thin or too thick it’s perfectly in the middle for a st.louis area inspired crust! The wine selection pairs very well with entree items such as rack of lamb, chicken and spinach lasagna, and more. Save room for dessert! There are some yummy desserts that are out of this world and like No other. Having visited multiple times it’s always a pleasure to see what the owner cooks up with his fresh stock of items!

Overall the food was good, the customer service good but they were a little understaffed. Very surprised that I got the wine in a regular glass and the expresso in a little whisky glass. I think they were not prepared for the amount of people that showed up. I would like to say the waiter was lovely and knew how to handle the pressure and never look overwhelmed even if she was. I would like to go back when things get back to normal.

Delicious! We were in town dropping my son off at college. We wanted a place to eat that wasn’t a chain place. I found the name interesting and I looked at the reviews which are all pretty high.we called and they found a way to squeeze us in. It is situated in a quaint area. Outside, they had outdoor couch and love seats as an option for seating. The outdoor seating was more plentiful than the indoor seating. Both spaces were nice. We sat at the bar and had a Birdseye view of the kitchen. They seemed to coordinate ate themselves well in the small space. All the dishes seemed delicious. I got the shrimp franchese. My husband got the fusilli Ragú. Both were delicious! The dishes were southern Italian. Almost a was home made. I wish I had room for dessert but I was stuffed. Definitely would recommend this place. When I come to visit I will be giving their pizza a try as well.

Classic Italian fare. The menu isn't what I would call "adventurous" but what they do make, they make it outstanding. They do have outstanding daily specials that are more off the beaten path. The service is outstanding, the patio is very nice, and atmosphere overall is very relaxed. They're reasonably priced for upscale dining and they've got a solid drink menu.

Penos is my favorite restaurant in Clayton, a dining mecca featuring many great culinary choices. The menu changes daily, with great starters salads & entrees containing fresh produce and ingredients served by awesome staff. Ask to meet chef Pepe - he’s not only a great cook but an even greater guy!! In a rush ? Try the best pizza outside Italy! 👍👍

I had the duck and beet salad and my wife had the Papparadelle Pelermo and Tucci's salad. Both were very tasty. Due to Covid the seating is outdoors, but they have heaters, fires, and blankets available to keep guest warm. The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful since this was our first time there. I hope to visit again someday.
