Everything was amazing! I would recommend the plum soju to drink. The yellow tail was the best part of the chefs choice sashimi platter. The ramen was flavorful, and the pork was cooked to where the fat was rendered perfectly. Our server had great suggestions and was attentive. Great first experience! We'll be back! Great atmosphere. We liked that it was a bit more intimate rather than completely wide open. Scooter was a great waiter and provided fantastic service. We ordered a couple of rolls as well as hot sake. We found that, compared to some other places, the options for specialty rolls lacked a little as well as they were a bit bland. However, we'd would definitely visit again and try other items on the menu.

This place was great! Devin our server was absolutely on point. Very attentive and very personable! The atmosphere was very relaxed and the menu was perfect and the portions were very reasonable. We tried a handful of things. We had the spicy edamame (really tasty), fries oysters (the sauce was delicious, and we had 5 different types of sushi! We got the Blue O, Shanghai, Godzilla, Spicy Octopus, and Take A Chance (this was a cool one). My favorite ones were the Blue O and the Shanghai. The cool part about Take A Chance was that it came out flaming which was really awesome! Next time we're in town we're absolutely coming back. The manager was awesome and very personable!

First time dining here and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Getting seating was slow, but restaurant appeared to have been a bit short staffed maybe. Definitely busy, so be patient. Staff is friendly and helpful. Not a large dine in area so again be patient, and you can dine at the bar too. Very worth the wait, some of the best sushi I have had! Awesome menu, delicious, quality food. Warm sake was perfect. I see why they won best sushi accolades two years in a row. I wasn't pleased with my whiskey sour drink, but did not complain, I just didn't drink it. I guess Patrick noticed and when I got my bill, the drink had been comp off, so kudos to him for being attentive, and great customer service.

Absolutely delicious! I loved the spicy beef ramen! (Ask for it not to be too spicy if you’re not much of a spice lover) The flavors are amazing. The broth is honestly to die for! Also, loved the blue O and the lone star rolls! Ramen del Mar was not as flavorful & was spicy, wouldn’t recommend. Otherwise excellent service and food, I will be back!

Blue Ocean does not disappoint. Hands down the best sushi in University City! The Lobster Roll is really tasty and the Spicy Beef Ramen is a must try.

Very short on seating and recommend ordering Togo. I would recommend the owners to rearrange the entrance and seating area near the window to host more people and reduce the wait time. Food is delicious

QR code ordering and paying which was quick easy and convenient, we had the Fried Cardinals and the Take a Chance. Although the Fried Cardinal only had 6 pieces it was more than enough and tasted amazing. The Take a Chance was set ablaze at the table making for a great experience.

Excellent comfort food during a rainy day. The gyoza are very good, the fried avocado topped with tuna and spicy mayo was a delicious surprise. Special mention to the pork ramen, I absolutely loved the ginger taste of the broth. Service was kind and fast.

Food is sight & taste appeasing & served on “butcher block boards” which made the experience stand out from other restaurants that I’ve ventured to! And, they have alcoholic beverages adults can choose from but children can choose from their nonalcoholic products as well!
They are busy (which is good which means food is good) but you are seated in a timely manner. The service is amazing 🤩 really they are!!! And, how they set up their orders thru the phone app is so efficient! This was an amazing dining experience coming out of state to visit my daughter & granddaughters!

Had a wonderful time here! Waitress was great, food/drinks came out quickly and was amazing. Mixed drinks were a little expensive for the quantity but that's to be expected. As far as sushi, we had the fried California, dragon roll and Philly roll as well as pot stickers and crab ragoon. Everything was delicious and the atmosphere was great with the upbeat music and anime/Japanese culture decorations. Will be back!

Thanks /////// Used to love this place and go there frequently. But I was highly disappointed today with the new menu , new waiter and probably new chef. Food tasted nothing like it used to be . I need to find a new ramen/sushi place .

My favorite Sushi spot in St. Louis! Their all you can eat sushi on Monday and Thursday is worth every penny! Servers are amazing and service is quick! I highly recommend Blue Ocean to anyone who’s never been. I also appreciate the Anime decor!!

I found this place online as I was searching for a good sushi restaurant for lunch. I went yesterday and loved it. Very nice atmosphere, the food is delicious! I had the Cardinal roll I think. And the service was great too. I definitely plan to go back again.

Definitely my "go to" place for sushi. Have been going here for years and the staff are super friendly... especially the manager. A lot of rolls to pick from and a lot of different options. If you love sushi you need to come here!

If you ever get the chance to go here, do so, it's worth the time it takes to find a spot to park, rain or shine. Especially if you like to people watch, there are spots up front with the big windows looking out onto the street. There's also booths that are quieter.
The music that plays above is a little different, something that you've likely not heard before, a selection of electronic and ambient, but it lends very well to the mood, give it a chance.
My single visit here has given me a glimpse into how helpful and kind the staff are, though I've spoken to just two of them. The service was exceptional, and they were very attentive, while also giving us a chance to look through the menu and catch up with one another.
There are a lot of references here, from anime and pop culture, as I understand it. Totoro might keep you company on the wall, too, depending where you sit!
The food itself is exceptional. Well done, with an excellence that goes unmatched, and will leave you wanting to order more, unwilling to share with others and hoard it all to yourself.

This was me and my daughters first time eating at the Blue Ocean. I can tell you we will definitely be going back. The sushi choices are numerous and very delicious. The noodle bowls looked amazing. The staff is very friendly and helpful. This is our new place to go.
