It’s overall good experience. We ordered basil fried rice and tom yum soup. It was delicious.
The layout of the restaurant is inviting and comfortable. The service we received was exceptionally friendly, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in.
The portions here are quite generous, which is a pleasant surprise, and the quality of the food is excellent. The flavors in every dish we tried were rich and well-balanced.
The menu offers a wide variety of options, and I'm already looking forward to returning to sample more of their delicious offerings. If you're a fan of Thai cuisine, King and I is definitely a place worth visiting for a satisfying and flavorful dining experience.
My recent visit to King and I Thai restaurant's new location in Richmond Heights was a delightful experience.
I must say, the 3 way King specialty dish and the noodles with the special house sauce were absolute standouts and left our taste buds wanting more.

Love the pad Thai! The new location is beautiful as well! The food was delicious!
I always order spicy which in St Louis never is, this was the spiciest dish I’ve ever had. Had the spicy noodles and egg rolls. Both were great. Service was great. The acoustics suck. Modern aesthetic which is so loud! They really need to add some acoustic panels on the ceiling.
The service was great and the fact we got to choose the spice level of our entrees was much appreciated! I ordered hot and they didn't disappoint. My husband ordered Thai hot and was quite impressed. They also have a good selection of both appetizers and entrees.
Have been there twice and not gotten a single photo of anything but the dining area.
I have some mild criticisms.
The beverages are not listed anywhere on the menu. When I asked for diet soda, the waitstaff said they were out and didn't offer anything else sugar-free (iced tea? coffee?). Happy to see the address is fixed on the new menus, though.
I had the King Veggie on my recent video and ordered it "medium spicy." There are four levels--mild, medium, spicy, and Thai spicy. So why did the medium make my lips burn, and why was it sprinkled with so much black pepper I was caught between coughing and sneezing with each bite? I enjoyed the green shrimp curry I ate on my first visit, but I only ordered it mild because I was with someone new. I usually like a reasonable amount of spice, but it seems there's no good level for me. The fried tofu was tasty, though.
There are too many seats packed into the dining room. I don't want to sit along a back wall on a bench seat two feet from a stranger. There is still a pandemic going on. I also don't want to be on the other side of the table and feel I'm in the waitstaff's way every time they pass.
They're also quite rude about their 2:30 closing time, though they don't put any signage about it on their windows or menu. They just close for 2.5 hours in the middle of the afternoon and in-store customers and those ordering delivery are just supposed to know.
All in all, I'm not likely to return for these prices.
First time to the new location. Enjoyed it very much. They have a slim down menu from what they used to have. But it's still very good. Loved it and will be back.
Thank you King & I for reopening in Richmond Heights! Enjoyed the new space and the food, especially the Yellow Curry, Pad Thai, Yum Beef, and Mango Ice Cream. Menu options are a bit limited but maybe will expand in time. Will definitely be back.
Food was delicious. Glad they had vegetarian and vegan options. You could choose your own protein. Portion sizes were perfect!
First time dining in since the pandemic hit in March 2020. I had gotten take out a few times but really missed the dining in experience. Luckily this time they were seating people. The main room appears as though it is getting a face lift or maybe they aren’t using it for a variety of reasons at the moment, but this experience they were only seating guests on the bar side (left side when you enter) and it was quite spread out. They do require you to wear a face mask until seated.
Service was over the top great and super friendly - more so than I’ve ever experienced. The woman helping my husband and I was delightful and gave us time to choose and enjoy our meal without feeling like too long of a wait. She even threw in an extra side of rice for our leftovers. The food was great. I ordered the red curry and it was perfect. My husband ordered the spicy noodles with bbq pork, and felt that although the flavor was good the sauce had consistency was much different than we’ve had before. It was less saucy. Also the noodles did not match the description- they were not the wide noodles but small skinny noodles. Taste was good, but I think he was missing his usual dish. Anyway, overall was still a 5 star experience.
Excellent Thai restaurant. Medium spicy almost knocked me out. Delicious. Busy on a Friday night.
A fixture among South Grand restaurants, this place offers a good selection of authentic dishes. My food has always been good and it's a clean place. The lunch prices are good, but you prices for some dinner items seem a little high.
We went to The King and I restaurant late this evening, we had a lovely time, our server was Randy, she was really good, the food was absolutely delicious. I had tomato rice, and my boyfriend had Curry noodles and sauce. We will definitely go back!
