Cute little smokehouse with a not-so-BBQ vibe. The burnt ends and pulled pork were very delicious. The tri-tip and pulled chicken were dry and lacked flavor. Our server was kind, but she was overwhelmed. They definitely need more servers and someone to spellcheck their BBQ sauce labels. The food was pricey for the portion sizes, and their menu online wasn't the same as in the restaurant. I think if they fix these things, they could continue to grow and earn 5 stars.

They are back and better than ever! Charlotte was the server and she was super awesome! She was sweet and knew all about the menu. The layout is a lot better as well. It is more open, and they even have built a stage towards the back instead of the front. Food was great, too! I even got to meet the owner who asked us how we liked everything. :)

Very cute place! Good food and good service. Sauces were unique and tasty. The pork and chicken had a nice lite smoke flavor and the fries were really good. The cornbread was great as well. Can't wait to try the meatloaf and tri-tip.

The Shaved Duck in Tower Grove East has been a favorite for years. I brought a friend who has never eaten here before and he was impressed. Their burnt ends are beyond! Service is great. I can honestly say I have never eaten anything here I haven’t liked. We are inside this trip because of the heat outside, but they do have picnic tables outside if you prefer eating outdoors. They have a nice beer and cocktail selection as well. Just a great neighborhood vibe with really good food!

The atmosphere is chill, staff members are super friendly and the drinks are reasonable. The four stars is for the wait time. We were seated immediately however we waited an hour for our foods to arrive. Two plates were French fries, I ordered a meat & two and my husband ordered the appetizer nachos. We have eaten here before with great service and a similar wait time.
I will say that the 1/2 pound of wings was ridiculous. 4 pieces…

Some of the best BBQ I’ve ever had. You MUST try the duck confit, cornbread, burnt ends, beans, ribs, turkey, and brussel sprouts. Everything was so delicious and served quickly. Both BBQ sauces are yummy, but we preferred the thicker, sweeter one.

1st time here! We came right when they opened at 12 pm on a Saturday and it wasn’t busy at all. There wasn’t a lot of seating. There’s parking on the road in all directions. I Definitely recommend if in the area or needing a date night! The food was great! The service was great! Our food came quickly.

Recommended to me by a colleague and I'm glad I stopped. Cool atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating available I went shortly after open on a Saturday and was able to get a table - bar seating is also available.
FOOD: Brisket burger with bacon and a side of mac. The burger was really good. I tried some of the sauces on a few bites... the burger doesn't need it but they do compliment the flavors of the meat.
DRINK: Sour Grove East. The drink was well prepared. Very balanced.
They had a couple of musicians setting up as I was leaving. Staff was friendly and accomodating.

We were so glad to be back! This is our favorite BBQ in STL; it’s just consistently great across all the menu items we’ve tried. The crispy brussel sprouts are amazing, and my husband and I both love the smothered fries with pulled pork! We tend to get their sandwhiches, and love the variety of sauce options, but are partial to the Black Isle/peppery sauce. We will be back, excited to enjoy the drinks when the license goes through!

Wow is all i can say! This place is such a gem. We were staying in an air bnb within walking distance and stopped. The air was out when we visited (a rare occurrence I’m sure) but the service was still phenomenal. We tried the smoked wings, pulled pork and duck breast. All were very flavorful and high quality. I’d recommend this place to anyone!

We wanted to find a beloved local joint for dinner on our road trip through St Louis and ran across The Shaved Duck Smokehouse. It had a warm, funky vibe and we knew it was going to be a fun time. We ordered the special smoked bacon encrusted with walnuts to start and then I ordered a burnt end sandwich with slaw and their daily veggie special, the flash fried brussels with hoisin sauce. My hubs ordered the smoked meatloaf with a side of fries both of which he thoroughly enjoyed. We wish we could’ve explored the cocktails but we had more driving to do. Great find!

This establishment offers indoor and outdoor seating. The inside is rather loud and I felt I had to yell at the poeple at my table to have a conversation. The inside does feel a bit cramped but the food makes up for it. Started with an appetizer of Smothered fries. Nothing too special about the ingredients on their own, but as a plate, AMAZING. The 3 meats and a side were also good. The side of macaroni was nothing special. The dessert of bourbon chocolate truffle cake was something I've never had before. The warm brownie like inside with the perfect amount of crunch on the outside was the best combo. I would high recommend stopping by.

Not much in the way of down sides. Its loud because it's small and they fit as many people in as they can; service was slow, because the place was packed in a Saturday night.
Those points noted; the quality of food was still phenomenal! I started with the smothered fries, and I would come back just for these! The pulled pork was so smoky & it was just so dang good! The greatness didn't stop there. I ordered the combo plate with meatloaf, tri-tip, burnt-ends, and the ribs with a side of Mac-n-Cheese. This feast was more than worth the money I paid. Don't tell my father, but that's the best Meatloaf I've ever had!😍 However the ribs were by far my favorite! The tri-tip & burnt ends were pretty good too, and the mac-n-cheese was so yummy. Long story short, call ahead & get it to-go if you can, and if you get anything get the smothered fries, ribs, and/or the meatloaf.
Thanks so much to our waitresses Mary Lou for such a memorable night! If I ever come back to St Louis, I'm 100% coming back to The Shaved Duck!

I'd give the food a 7 or 8. Our service from Kristin could easily give this review a 15! We waited 50 minutes to be seated. Walking around the block and immediate outdoor seating made our wait doable. As soon as we got settled in the table to the right of the bar in the corner, drinks were ordered pretty quickly and things got going. We ordered water and the loaded fries to share as an appetizer. I would've liked more meat in there but no biggie. Our entrees came out right on time... Meat loaf and veggie sandwich. Both spicy and pretty good. The differences in the 4 sauces on the table were explained wonderfully by Kristin and she graciously entertained us with a funny personal story. Dim lighting all over. Bar is up front. Expect a wait but the experience is well worth it. We got there at 7pm, seated at 7:50pm and walked out at 9:09pm.

An awesome neighborhood restaurant specializing in BBQ and duck. We started off with smothered fries with pulled pork, rib meat and their cheese sauce for smothering was great. I had their duck chili and it was delicious. I also had 1/2 rack of ribs and they were very good as well. The ribs came with a side and I chose jalapeno creamed corn-a wonderful mix of sweet and spicy. My wife had the pulled pork sandwich and sweet potato fries. The fries came with a very spicy version of ketchup. Very good but beware of you don't like a lot of heat. They have the sauces covered with a Carolina based tangy, a mango habanero, bourbon and my favorite-the Dark Isle.

Look...I can’t even exaggerate if I wanted to...well I could but there is no need. The food here is amazing. The service is great, friendly and helpful!! I googled best eats in St Louis and this restaurant showed up over and over so I ended up making the trip. I originally came for the smothered fries and ended up also ordering the glazed bacon with blue cheese and walnuts and the duck confit. Everything was delicious and served hot! The bacon was the star! Everything on the plate paired so well together, I may attempt to serve it as an appetizer for a get together. I look forward to visiting again when I’m in the area.

What an experience! In the middle of a residential neighbourhood is this comfort food gem.
We started with the Cheese fries that has a hidden layer of pulled pork! Very rich!
Had to try some smoked fair so had the B.O.S.S. which earns its name! Side of Mac n Cheese that is so creamy...you can put it in your morning coffee...although I don’t suggest it.
The live music fit the place. Loved the vibe.

Best meal so far in STL during my stay here. The food was absolutely amazing, from the appetizers to the entrees. I haven’t had this type of BBQ in years, and this totally hit the spot. I ordered a grapefruit beer, which tasted light and refreshing. The mac and cheese was so good, I ordered a second serving of it. The bacon that was smothered in brown sugar and maple syrup was so good - we couldn’t stop eating it. I’m so sad that they ran out of cornbread. The ribs melted in my mouth, and the duck was delicious too. The bartender was soooo nice and friendly, too! So glad we came here!!!

This place is next level. The Burnt Ends are excellent. Fantastic authentic St Louis style rids with just the right amount of smokiness. I could eat my weight in the pulled pork. Best flank steak I've had at any restaurant. This is the first place I've seen spaghetti squash as a side and must say we were in love with it. The service was amazing. Jeremy was very friendly, knowledgeable, and timely. The ambiance was comfortable and had such a charm to it. We will definitely make it a point to visit here again next time we are in St Louis.
