I love Vargas place they have the taco bread I have ever tasted. If, I moved away I always had to have there. They have the best Mexican cookies and menudo/ tamales and everything but the meat for tacos or nachos or tamales. I would give them a 10

I was introduced to Vargas tortillas over a half century ago. When I was just a kid, a family friend taught my mom how to make tacos using Vargas tortillas, and I still make them the same way. It was especially difficult when I briefly moved away from Saginaw because I have lived by a no-Vargas-no-tacos policy for all of these years I am grateful that Kroger carries them, but I have also gone directly to the bakery to purchase pre-made shells, tortilla chips, and other items. When I go to local restaurants, I always ask if they use Vargas (sort of like most people from Michigan ask if the hot dogs are Koegel brand). We are so lucky to have Vargas Bakery. It is truly a revered institution in the Saginaw area. I hope the family keeps the business open for many years to come.

The last few times l brought Vargas bread it had to much flour and not enough corn in it. AND the cashier always lie about how fresh the skins is.l know things changed after the original owners passed away (Dad) .l grew up on 12th and Wadsworth vargas bread was the go to. Looking for another taco bread company.

Best corn tortillas in Michigan. Once you have had tacos with these tortillas. You might not want tacos made with any other tortilla!

I absolutely love this store. I go there often for their skins/snoots/chicharonies. Every now and then they over cook them and you can see and taste that their burnt or burned grease. I understand the loss of money, but quality should mean more. The corn and flour tortillas are the bomb; sometimes I heat the flour tortillas and eat them plain. Don't forget to try the menudo and they have got a new person making the tamales, they're making them bigger but still good flavor (the little ones felt like a rip off).
