Review Tasty House - Sacramento

Unlighted
Hesitated because of rating, but I saw a review about the food being disliked by Americans because it is not Americanized. As a Chinese-born Chinese who is here for college, I have decided to give it a go, did not regret my decision. They have off-menu entrees written on a separate paper in Chinese without English. Those are pretty much the traditional entrees you can find in Chinese restaurants in China. Feel free to ask for recommendations and I would suggest not to order anything that is not Chinese, like sushi rolls, to avoid off-taste item, since this is an authentic Chinese restaurant. I ordered a Dried Shrimp and Zucchini in hotpot with rice Vermicelli. If you dine in they also offer you soup of the day for free. 9/10. Good experience overall. Decent food, okay service. Will definitely try again.

This place looks kind of like a hole in the wall but the food is great, especially for the price and I really like the owner.

I had the dinner plate the following items were included. Chow mien, sweet and sour sauce, general's chicken, chicken leg, veggie roll, white rice and a side of soup. All the items were served in a portion platter which was pretty big. It's definitely a good meal for the price. Plus the restaurant has a home away from home feel.

Different than other Chinese food I have had. They offer frog leg. I loved the ginger beef and egg rolls. Take out was easy to do online.

Fantastic little hole in the wall. The food was hot, the tea was good and pleasant on a cold day, and the waiter was polite and very friendly. We ordered the dinner B, and nearly everything was great. The appetizers included a crab rangoon, which was absolutely amazing. Very robust crab flavor! The best part of the dinner was hands-down the sweet and sour pork. The bell pepper and pineapple were wonderfully fresh, and the pork itself was bathed in the sweet and sour sauce, but wasn't too overpowering, like most places. The pork in of itself was breaded and fried to PERFECTION. Never tasted better or crunchier pork in my LIFE. The broccoli beef was also a very pleasant surprise, as a lot of places give very thin slices of beef. Here, they give you hearty delicious slices of beef and it's wonderful. The house fried rice was great, as well, with chicken, beef, and shrimp in it, and plenty of. The only slightly negative thing was that the chow mein was a little too oily, but aside from that, if you're in the area, don't let the outward appearance of this place prevent you from coming. The people here are wonderful, and you can taste the love in every bite.

The negative reviews don't understand this place serves authentic Chinese food from a specific region in China, not the garbage Americanized food you get in Panda Express. I guess people can't read but the giant ”台山“ in the front of the entrance isn't there just for looks. Maybe open a book for once in your life instead of ranting.

The food is amazing, even the soup. Egg flower soup. For now.

One, I been a big fan of their authentic food. Especially their beef stew clay pot. Yum yum yum. Add with rice and will hit home, I meant stomach. For other food that are basic. Not the best, the western type food. Meaning meant for Westerners when Chinese came and settle in USA. Regard to the above, I invested my own clay pot and duplicate their Beef stew, man oh man. Wait, regard to the restaurant overall, I been here for almost 6 years+, and they still haven't update their restaurant. So don't expect a fine dining here, but more a local favorites. Like when visiting a restaurant in the East. But do becareful with some of their menu items if you just here to grab a quick lunch plate or dinner plate, their chow mein is not the greater. Sort of old everytime I am here. I do recommend substitute it for fried rice or just go full steam rice or even better ask for no chow mein and ask for a little more of the main item. Say kung pao, beef broccoli, etc. They will definitely accommodate this way versus asking for fried rice. Best bet, just go with a item over rice. Best option.

Real authentic Hong Kong style food. Recommend ordering take out because the place is kinda run down. A true hole in the wall gem. It's all about the food here. In addition to all your classic Chinese dishes are some rare seasonal dishes (example; yellow eel/rice claypot) Large portions at low prices.
