Amazing new restaurant in the area. The have the best shawarma in town that is served every Friday for now. The owner is great and the service is exceptional.
Hands down the best salad bar in town, full of fresh delicious options you won't find anywhere else. Prepared options are quick and delicious too! Well worth the trip from anywhere in Sac, and a must for lunch if you're downtown.

I am happy that Vela Cafe opened. Not only do they have the best food in downtown but it's a nice restaurant to be in. So far, I've been able to take my work there in the morning and start the day with a freshly made breakfast burrito and coffee. There's even free wifi. For lunch, I've had the lamb
Reliably good for lunch, very friendly staff. Can be hit and miss at breakfast, seems they run out of faves like bagels. Speaking of which - smoked salmon & cream cheese bagel sammie is pretty good for this neck of the woods.
Non-obvious eatery, tucked away on the NW corner of Cesar Chavez park. Great buffet, sell by weight food. Each day's menu is generally different, with a middle-eastern flavour (the lentil/rice dish is often served).
I like the ability to order just as much as you want to eat and not an ounce more. G
