Review Joe's Crab Shack - Sacramento

Nice location in Old Town Sac by the river and Tower bridge. Large seating capacity with outside seating to enjoy the view of the river. The Seafood pasta was delicious! The steak was kinda tough. Overall a pleasant experience.

This restaurant is located in Old Sacramento right on the Sacramento River adjacent to the Tower bridge. Mostly out of towners and tourists will come here because it's very close to the embassy suites hotel. However, you will see locals here too such as myself. I was looking for somewhere different and fun to take my family. My children really enjoy the atmosphere and the service was excellent! Our server was so attentive. I forgot his name. The children's menu is very decently priced and they both got a drink for $2 that had a plastic tiger shark in it. They loved it! The shark is filled with grenadine and The kids poured into the drink and the waiters cry, "Shark in the water!" Happy hour drinks and food are great. I got a watermelon mojito at the recommendation of our server and it tasted like candy. We loved people watching walking below on the river deck.

As a lover of seafood I was drawn to this spot. I realized this was a franchise but it sounded awesome. Had the seafood linguine. This was very pricey, as a Canadian, its even more, but, I would say it was worth it. The pasta was cooked perfectly, I don't think it was freshly made pasta but it was good. The sauce was very tasty and tomatoey. There was just the right amount of sauce to dip the bread and have a very saucy bite every time. The bread was good. Onto the star, the seafood, wow, I can see why it was so expensive. As you can see from the photo its chock full of everything you could ever want in a seafood linguine. Would buy it again if I was ever near a franchise location and looking to splurge on a nice seafood dinner. I love it when takeout is as good as dine in and my car felt like a 5 star restaurant, smelled like it too!

5 out of 5 stars for sure!! - This was my first time here. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 We got seated immediately and a kind waitress instantly took care of us. I can absolutely recommend anyone to be seated on their beautiful porch in the back with a nice view across the river. It obviously gets hot in the afternoon which besides the waiting time in general would be another good reason to visit early. The food was brought out to us on time. And each and every bite of it was super delicious and worth every dollar for sure! I will be back. Thank you so much!

The food was ok, not great for the price and our waiter was forgetful and told us 35 minutes after we ordered that one of the dishes was not available. The manager came out to apologize but nothing was done on our bill to compensate for our extended wait time and having to choose another dish that was just ok.

This is always a fun place to go. The servers take care of you very well and if you go on your birthday it's super fun!!

love this place. this was our fist time in many years. Daniel Mayorga took good care of us. we hung out for 4 hours. love all his drink recommendations... got the shark bite. the food was great. we went with his recommendations the shrimp sampler and add one. great food and great service

Just be ready with the wait but oh so worth it. Be ready for the hour wait, hour food wait and ample time to enjoy your food, vibe and company you got. Our server was awesome and always checked on us and apologizes for the wait.

It was so beautiful to sit out by the water as the sun went down and flicks of birds circled overhead. The food was pretty good. Expensive. But the atmosphere made it worth it. I would never go there and sit inside thought. The restroom entrance was so very cool to look at with lots of old photos and album covers!!!

Got the Fish and Chips Lunch and it was plentiful and cooked to perfection! Asked for an outdoor table by the water like usual. I've been coming here for over 20 yrs and love the fish with a seafood topping prior, but now the Fish and Chips is where it's at (for me). Friendly server and manager too. Looking forward to going back again soon.

About my 5th time there, when I'm travelling through. Food has always been good. Definitely get full here. Only issues are parking and the fact that the city won't do anything about the homeless trying to bum off you. You'd think they would clean up the old town on the river, one of their main tourist attractions, but that isn't the restaurant's fault, and the dining experience has always been good for me.

It was my first time here. The views and the vibe of the whole downtown area and restaurants was fun. We got lucky and didn't have to wait for a table on a Saturday afternoon. Mandy, our waitress was friendly and outgoing, the appetizers and drinks came out with no issues. We placed our order, my boyfriend and my son got their food. I insisted they eat because I thought mine would be out soon. They were done eating, and I still had not received my food. Mand was very apologetic. I don't blame anyone. It was busy. A manager did finally get my food, which was good, however I asked for a to go box right away as my boys were done and ready to go. The same manager also removed my order from our final bill, which I didn't ask for but I thought was fair. All in all, nice place, good food. Thank you

It's always a fun place to eat. When we arrived around 7:30p on a Friday it was crowded and the bar was very busy. We waited about 10 min to order a drink at the bar, the bartenders were friendly and apologized about the waut. We waited about 30 min for a table. When we got our table, the place had emptied out, which was great because the staff were able to be very attentive. I had a shrimp, crab cakes, and fish (battered cod) basket. The popcorn shrimp weren't anything to call home about, but the fish was perfectly fried, not greasy, and the large shrimp were also delicious. The crab cakes were also very good. The coleslaw was okay, it wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. Overall I enjoyed my meal very much and would recommend it. Just beware when it's crowded, the wait can be long, and the service may suffer.

The drink enticed us (TKO punch), the food filed us and the staff entertained us. Great family atmosphere and great food. Anthony was our server and we couldn’t have been more pleased. He was attentive and delightful. Would definitely recommend this establishment.

We loved our lunch. Vic our server had a fun personality and the food was delicious. We screamed over our shark bite drinks. The crab nachos and our queen crab clusters were yummy! The little girl next to us had a birthday and they rolled out the red carpet and put on a tiara for the princess. Great view on the water too!

My family and I have been coming to Joe's for 13 years now and I have NEVER had this much of a horrible experience. Today is my birthday and I had a choice to go to Rudy's Hideaway or Joe's Crab Shack and I chose Joe's. Big mistake! (1) After we ordered my daughter thought that my son-in-law ordered my granddaughters dinner and he hadn't. So 15-20 minutes goes by and we finally see our waitress and let her know the mix up. (2) There was a mix-up with my daughters and I crab. I ordered garlic w/extra crab legs and she ordered spicy. It went back and came back a few moments later. (3) I ate 1 crab leg and my mouth was burning. 15 min later I finally got our waitress's attention. She took it back and about 20 -25 or so minutes later it came back. I told her there were no extra crab legs like before and there was corn when I ordered no corn, extra potatoes. When she asked if there was anything else I said that I would like to talk to the manager and bring me to go boxes because I obviously can't eat with my family because they were finished with their food. (4) 15 or so minutes later the manager shows up and I explain what is going on. Told her it was my birthday and that between the mix up and waiting for my food to be fixed that I was not able to eat with my family and my birthday dinner was ruined. The manager asks what she can do and I tell her to fix it. My pot goes back to be boxed with the correct food and we waited yet another 20-25 minutes. It comes back and it's still wrong. Fuck it, I just wanted the bill to get the hell out of there. (5) The manager offered me a free birthday dessert and it never showed up. (6) They ended up taking off the crab bucket and extra legs but upon closer inspection of the receipt I noticed that they charged us for 2 crab pots and 2 extra crab legs, so had the dinner been correct I would've brought that to their attention. (7) They charged us for 2 kids meals when we only ordered one. I had this corrected and we paid and left. The waitress was lucky to have gotten a very, very small tip. My daughter didn't want to give her one. As a long time customer, me and my family will not be back. The ONLY reason I'm giving 3 stars instead of 1 is because of past dinners there.

Took our son for his 21st birthday to Joe's crab shack.... The 3 hour drive was worth it!! Great food along with great service by Dan!!

I brought my friend to Joe's Crab Shack for the very first time today. Nyisha was our server, she was very kind to our children, and gave my friend a really great first experience. My children made a special request for a song and dance, and it was honored! The girls at the front desk were very sweet, we really enjoyed speaking with them while we waited for my friend to arrive. This was around 2:30 pm until about 4:30 pm. We loved the staff during our dining experience! All of that was great...but here is why I really want to leave this review... My daughter has a rare genetic bleeding disorder and when she has an injury she has to take a medication that requires very close monitoring of her fluid intake, if she has more than 32 ounces of fluid within 24 hours she can have seizures amongst other things. She had very recently had an injury and had to take her medication a few hours prior to our visit, so we brought our own reusable coffee mug, which happens to be a very special cup for my daughter, this is the cup that we use when she has had this medication, it is how we track how much water she has had. We accidentally left this special cup on the table, and we did not realize we had left it until about an hour and a half later. We went right back to Joe's Crab Shack hoping to find this precious cup. Unfortunately the cup was gone, my daughter absolutely lost it, this is one of her simple Comforts when she has to go through the side effects of having her medication, which can be very unpleasant for her. While we were waiting to see if anyone could find the missing cup, Courtney Houston, who was working in the gift shop, was kindly speaking to my child, trying to distract her as she was melting in tears. The manager, I believe his name was Victor Jones, approached us and informed us that sadly he could not find the cup... I want to let you know that I witnessed the entire staff trying to find this cup. The girls that were at the front looked very sad that they couldn't find it, everyone looked truly upset. I was very impressed with how the entire staff dropped everything to try to find this beloved item of my daughters, I wish I had everyone's name. Courtney Houston asked my daughter to pick out a water bottle as a replacement, and she said she was going to cover the cost... At that point Victor Jones said to give the item to my daughter and they were both very sorry that the cup could not be found. In the end, my daughter got a replacement turtle water bottle, I purchased a shark water bottle for my other daughter, and while my kiddos beloved cup has not been found... she does have a new replacement to help her to feel better after medicating. I know that it doesn't seem like much, but my daughter doesn't get upset about anything... So her having a devastating meltdown over this item was shocking and it means a lot that the staff at Joe's Crab Shack did everything that they could to make this situation a little bit better. They didn't know that my daughter was nauseous, had a headache, was feeling weak and had spent the day home sick...all due to the side effects from her medication...they didn't know why the cup was so important to my kiddo...they simply did whatever they could to help. Thank you Joes Crab Shack...thank you to the entire staff that was working on the evening of Wednesday, April 25th around 6:30 pm. You have made a beautiful impact on my family, you have let my kiddos know that there are kind people out there that will go above and beyond to help another person out. Again, I wish that I could name everyone that was working and that helped me...there were at least 10 people that tried to find the cup or that aided in some way. I hope that the staff is commended somehow once this review is read by management.
