Review The Waterboy - Sacramento

This place has been around since 1996, it’s farm to fork restaurant. Very nice place with fresh food and good service. They have big selection of cocktails and delicious food. Their menu changes constantly according to the season. Give it a try you’ll like it.

Another great meal with friends! This place has great cocktails and food is good. My only problem was the Caesar salad, it has more yellow leafs that green. But other then that is always good.

My wife took me here for my birthday dinner. Zang (sp?) was an amazing server and made the evening special! This restaurant is small but quaint. They have outside seating with misters. We had the oysters, scallops, steak, and profiteroles. The champagne we had and the old fashioneds were amazeballs! My first bite of scallops was a bit disappointing because it was chewy but every bite after that was fire!!!!! The steak was not cooked medium but it was so flavorful and tender it didn’t matter. Will come back for sure. The antipasto plate and the deviled eggs look great. Thank you for making my birthday special.

Had a good time here. The food was great, really enjoyed the antipasto. Drinks were strong. Our server was kind and informative, as was a guy who came by with water (I had a hard time choosing between duck and steak. He recommended the duck even though duck isn't his thing and it was delicious!) Only real detractors were the acoustics (it was loud and cacophonous until people started clearing out) and the chairs aren't very comfy.

Wow I don't know where to start with this... a tantric trip to taste budlandia where I went deaf for a brief instant while my brain shifts all focusing powers to the magic in my mouth. What a treat waterboy is. We came in on a Friday night and the joint was packed to the gills and for good reason. So my friend and I took the first spot at the bar and we're greeted rather quickly by the bartender Jon. He started us off with a couple of house made rye cocktails then went over the specials. His knowledge of the drinks and not only the menu but the chefs preparing the food as well. After his take we decided to have a few of his favorites. Beef tartar and sweet bread. I would have never ordered the sweet bread if I had read the menu because it's not sweet or bread. I sure am glad I didn't cause it was phenomenal. Hands down one to go back for. For our entrees we had the quail with pork belly and the fire grilled brick chicken. Both were great but the chicken was clearly the winner. The skin was crispy yet the plate flooded with juice when cut open. Waterboy and Jon thank you for renewing the Sacramento food scene single handedly👏🏾👏🏾

Sarah and I walk past the Waterboy several times a week. We’ve been here separately and wanted to give it a go…. wow just wow. I had the Halibut and Sarah the chicken and dumplings. We had the deviled eggs to start… Each dish was so delicately prepared, subtle flavors and nuanced aromas… wonderful. Our waiter knew the history of the building and shared with us.. very very attentive staff!

All the dishes we tried were top quality. The tartar was on-point with a greatly executed aioli. Beet salad was something out of this world with flavor profiles only tasted here. Risotto was filled with umami and floral notes you get from saffron. Even the simple spaghetti took me back to Roma.

This place is so wonderful. Food is great. Limited menu but still various options to choose from. Lots of drinks. They have seasonal menu items. The interior design is beautiful. The ambience and staff are my favorite things about this restaurant. For these two reasons I have been here multiple times.

I went with a large party for a friend's birthday. Two thirds of the group had never been, and they left silent with satisfaction. Those of us who had been before got a solid reminder of why we wanted to go in the first place. The service was so attentive that I felt I didn't deserve it. We all tipped extra, but it still didn't feel like enough for the delightful evening we got.

This is a favorite place for celebrations, and they never disappoint. I had the veal sweet breads as a starter - delicious. The chicken and dumplings were likewise excellent and a fresh take on this traditional dish. Server was very knowledgeable and appropriately humorous and interactive, not intrusive.

Pink lady cider, Corti Bros Sherry Cask Special 7yr Whiskey, Duck Breast, Pork Belly. We went because a lot of staff took vacation this week and they closed for lunch instead of taxing their staff to cover. I respected it so much that I made sure that I came out for my son’s very first special dinner at a fancy restaurant.

Always known of The Waterboy, but never been. So glad I went because wonderful restaurants like this are disappearing. My wife and I had to order 3 entrees because we HAD to! So happy we did because each dish was amazing. Our service honestly was just as good if not better than the food. And that's only because you'll wind up wishing you had a bigger portion though there's no problem with their portions. I honestly can't wait to go back

Our first time here. Great service and food. Our server Rosa was amazing, she was so warm and friendly, made great food recommendations, and provided exceptional service. The salads were very fresh and delicate. The special bruschetta with blue cheese and pears was very nice, the steak was perfectly cooked and tender, and don’t forget dessert. My pear almond tart was so good and my husband loved the affogatto. My only complaint (and reason for 4 instead of 5 stars) is the chairs in the dining room are the worst. My back was killing me and my husbands legs were numb by the end of dinner. If anyone from management is reading this review please consider replacing your indoor dining chairs (the ones that kind of look like wicker).

I wanted to try somewhere new with my wife and I love when restaurants focus on farm-fresh ingredients. Well, this place did not disappoint! The vibe was awesome, making it a perfect spot for a great date night. The food was delicious and the service was top-notch!

This is one of the more upscale dining options in Sacramento, not my typical fare but after hearing great reviews I had to try it for an anniversary dinner. Service was fantastic! We were taken care of very well, and were even provided Prosecco for celebrating here. The focaccia bread was delicious! The antipasto is a great helping of meats and cheese, and Bavette steak was mouthwatering good! Definitely give them a try
