Raw oysters were delicious! Cocktail shrimp was good also but too much horseradish in the cocktail sauce for my girlfriend. It was perfect for me since I love horseradish. She ordered the Veggie pasta and liked it. I ordered the seafood platter. The crab cakes were the best I've ever had. Flounder was a bit dry so I just ate the meat.

We have ate there off and on for many years. If you are traveling to Lake Lure via Old highway 74 you want to stop there. It is a favorite for weekend bikers, it is a favorite place for middle class and upper middle class people. While it is race-friendly you simply don't see that many people of other races at it. And do expect a crowd, you're going to experience a crowd. They have steak and seafood and all of it is perfect most of the time. Sometimes you will get a dinner that's not perfect, just simply send it back. The one problem they have is they have a men's room and a women's room with only one toilet in each. The tea is absolutely flawless. You will of course need something like Pepto-Bismol after you eat there, yes you will be full because you will love it. This place is incredible! Delicious salad bar, huge shrimp platter, and the pricing was beyond reasonable. Our waitress was excellent too. We will be back.

You will probably have to wait, but if you want good food for a good price, it is worth it. This is not a "fine dining" experience. It is more of a fish camp sort of place. We will be back.

Was a great meal with good service. The waitress forgot our salads and brought them out after our meal. I can say she was really busy so we overlooked that. Great oysters and coconut shrimp was very impressed with our meals.

I just wanted to take a moment to give appreciation for Scoggins. It’s a community staple, and one that continually makes people feel warm and welcome. Aside from the fact that they have created such a culture of community, they’ve managed to keep their prices fair in a time when every penny counts. A special mention to their manager Heather, who has always been kind, incredibly knowledgeable, and helpful without every making any encounter feel like forced kindness. The food is consistently good, the staff is great and the prices are fair, which is what keeps us coming back.

I live only 30min from this place and had never heard of if before today when a friend recommended it. We try new places quite frequently and recognize good food and good service. I must say the service was a 10 out of 10, never had to ask for more drink and the server was very polite and professional with a great personality. I think her name was Taylor. The salad bar was great and the dressings tasted home made they were very good. I ordered 8oz sirloin with fries and it was very good. My wife got popcorn shrimp and I sampled it. The breading was not soggy at all and the taste was great. My son ordered a combination plate of butterfly shrimp,chicken tenders and normal sized shrimp, he is a picky eater and he loved all 3. The hushpuppies were the skinny round ones and were great, not to sweet but had a hint of onion that was not overpowering. This is probably one of the 1st restaurant reviews I've ever left because most of the time I try a new one its a disappointment so I just don't leave a review because I don't want to hurt someones business, but this place tonight was on their A game and it was packed!

This restaurant is one of the best in the county. If you are looking for steaks & seafood that taste great, but don't break the bank, this is the place. The wait staff are very pleasant & attentive. They've always had an outstanding salad bar & still do - even in these "Covid times". If you order the salad bar, you will be given a slip of paper listing all their salad bar items & you check off what you want. They will build your salad plate for you. Their side dishes are very good. You can't go wrong with any of your choices. They have a full service bar for you to enjoy too. Also, a small outdoor seating area.

Stopped here cause my husband and I were on our way home but we were a little hungry and came here. The staff were super nice food was great. If we ate in the area again we will definitely be stopping here. The food was very filling maybe even to much cause be were stuffed and the prices were very good too.

Got there right before they opened, there was already a line. Place was super clean and the food was amazing. Sirloin was cooked perfectly and was probably one of the best tasting steaks I've ever had. Service was amazing. First time I've ever been and I'm convinced it's the best place in the county.

My grandmother's job held their annual company Christmas dinner here, the staff worked very diligently with everyone and very quickly. Refills and check-ins were VERY quick and consistent. There was roughly 100 to 120 guests there that night and everything was very well executed and I don't believe a single order was messed up, everybody got what they needed and their adjustments made just as quickly as possible. I recommend this restaurant to anybody who loves amazing food! :) Very lovely waiters and waitresses.

This place absolutely earned all five stars! Wonderfully pleasant service staff, delicious starters, awesome salad bar, amazing entrees! After our first visit I have nothing but good things to say about Scoggin's. We will absolutely be back again the next time we're in the area. The steaks were cooked perfectly and the seafood sauteed expertly. Good quality for the price point! The one trip, add on salad bar had great ingredients, the shrimp pasta salad was divine. Service was prompt and our order didn't take very long, even with a nearly packed house. I love how everything is homemade/prepared to order! Can't wait to come again!

Excellent food and service. They know how to make prime rib with excellence! The fish stew sounds like an odd option for an appetizer but it was delicious and came out hot. We look forward to returning soon.

Food and service were good. A little surprised the food was served on disposable plates. I guess Covid has changed a lot... Including the requirement that we wear a mask into the restaurant 😩. Also, be aware if you view a menu anywhere else, their steak is now "market priced".

Whenever we're in town we eat here. The staff is there for you and the food is good. I'm proud of them for being so SAFE during Covid... Although the salad bar is not being offered right now, everyone wears a mask and is socially distanced. I feel very safe dinning at Scoggin's ! Great job 👍👍
