Sakura Restaurant Woodfield

I've been going to this place as long as I can remember. Any family outing with extended family we would always come here, some of the most authentic Japanese food you'll have. The sukiyaki is amazing, and if you haven't heard of it I recommend getting it A.S.A.P. as the owner is retiring soon. Thank you Sakura, my family will miss you. Good luck

AUTHENTICITY AT ITS BEST! I've been going to Sakura sushi for 6 years, and each visit has remained consistent in terms of food quality, and presentation of staff. The atmosphere in Sakura evokes a feeling of being in Japan, all the while being in Schaumburg. The owner is a very kind humble man who takes great pride in delivering a high quality meal no matter what it is. I admire the freshness of Sakura Sushi and the prices are mild! I highly recommend you go here for lunch, or catch the Jazz quartet who plays monthly on friday's at Sakura.

I was excited to hear this place had good reviews, for the most part. We went there on a Saturday evening, was pretty slow, but now to the food... the scallop handroll was so fishy I had to spit it out. You can tell it was very old. I love scallops and salmon sushi so this was really hard to get the bad taste out of my mouth. The salmon nigiri I ordered was not only orange but had no fatty lines through it. The salmon was worse than the scallop. .. I mean what's going on here? I also could not chew or digest the salmon, had to spit it out. They have two veteran Japanese sushi men behind the counter but authenticity doesn't always mean best quality, apparently. The curry with the deep fried beef ball was watery, had barely any carrots or potato or meat. The beef croquettes was sour... and not a good sour, was a sour taste from old meat trying to be masked in sauce. Very very disappointed. I have to be honest, I wouldn't eat this food if it was free. Let me also state it wasn't pleasant using the washroom that night... probably due to minor food poisoning caused by old food and who knows maybe cross contamination. UGH makes me cringe when I think of the food quality here. Anyone who disagrees.. well sorry I'm not down for less than mediocre sushi that makes you sick.
