Buddy's Bbq

Buddy's from my understanding is a newer restaurant in the area. Naturally since I LOVE BBQ, I had to try it out. They serve meat plates and family platters. They have brisket, pulled pork and chicken, chicken wings, half chickens plus all the good "fixins". Upon entering the building you're greeted by friendly faces and a modern rustic environment. It's a great looking place and I would love to have a room in my house as nice. The service was great and the prices were very fair compared to other BBQ places. This is obviously very popular place in the area because you have to go at odd eating times to get a seat. The brisket is moist, the pulled pork is high quality but the hush puppies stuck out as unique for me. It looks like they make the hush puppies like they would make funnel cake. I normally don't like hush puppies but these were the best I've ever had! I would go there just for them let alone their BBQ. If you ever find yourself in this small town in Virginia, you have to try it out!

Buddy's new place is really neat, and the crew really nice. But, it was around 4 pm, just before regular dinner service would have started, and I unfortunately got a half rack of the driest, overcooked ribs I've ever had the displeasure of eating. Threw most of it out. Yes, the meat practically fell of the bone, but that was the end of the quality, there was also a lot of pink in the rib meat. For the price I paid, anyone would expect better quality. What was good, the chicken my husband got, so were the bbq sauces, mac - n - cheese, slaw, hush puppies, potato and macaroni salads, and the baked beans. My friend got a large salad and she said although good, wasn't worth the price she paid. This is only the third time I've gotten food from Buddy's, although it may have been a bad day just today, it may be the last time I eat their food. Or at least the ribs anyway. P.S. The other two times we went to Buddy's, I would have given them 10 stars for each day but the scale here only goes to five. They also have live music on certain nights ! Not sure how new that is but sounds like a good time to go there! Take care and be safe!☺️

Working in Rocky Mount Va today & came across this gem! Will definitely be back when I’m in the area! Great atmosphere, service, hush puppies didn’t even need butter! I got the spiced up beans which are Wow!! & that pulled bbq! Check out the smoke ring on that brisket! Wish I would have more time to meet the pit master!

Traveled back down to the area for family business and once again I made the stop to this wonderful BBQ restaurant. The new location just down the street from the old one is a complete overhaul and upgrade. It was packed almost immediately after they opened at 11am. The food once again stole the show with fantastic flavors and tender meats. I had the brisket tray with buddy's banging beans and coleslaw along with the Jamaican Jerk wings. The small portion is just enough to fill you up but if you dig it the platter is the way to go. Now there is outside dining and live music so if you want the best BBQ, this is the place to go.
