Herrema's Market Place

I really like Herrema's. It's an old-fashioned, relaxing supermarket!! They have nice desserts - which my mother enjoys more than Wegmans (eclairs). They have a great lasagna in the deli. They sell rotisserie chicken - I think the same cost as Wegs, and tastes great. I find their prices are fine. People compare it to Wegmans, but I don't think Wegmans is inexpensive on any level - where you can but a ready-made Caesar salad for $11!!! Its just lettuce, a few croutons and dressing - for $11. And a turkey sandwich for $10-12 as well. That's expensive when you can make both for about $1.50. Herrema's has the varieties that Wegmans doesn't have. They have Cheesie Eddies Cheescake. They have a ton of frozen dinner selections - Banquet, Hungry Man, etc., whereas Wegs has a small selection comparatively. Its a nice alternative that you should explore. Update: July 2023. Well, they have been making nice improvements in the store!! Beautiful meat and fish selections, and I really like the prepared foods they're having. Their Chili is awesome! Meatloaf and sloppy joe ready to go - new salads - all excellent! And no, I don't work for Herrema's nor do I receive any money for posting. I'm just letting you know its a nice store to check out -- I've gotten very tired of the usual selections at the other stores. They've also been slowly adding all sorts of organic, vegan products.

I am a long-time fan of Herrema's for its friendly staff, good produce, bakery, meat and deli selections and recently, for upgrading the variety and visibility of vegetarian/vegan products. They seem to have expanded Hispanic and Asian spices, sauces and mixes as well. You can shop there to check off items on a list, and to get creative ideas there as well. It is a gem.

Gotta love a still alive and thriving independent grocery store. Type of place where the employees get to know your name and let you know that your favorite soda is on sale. Type of place you can get customer service bat the customer service desk! Unbelievable, I know... If I hadn't seen it myself, I'd think I was a liar, too . Hot tip. Try the "White Birch Beer" soda. Like Root Beer but better. I'm now a full blown addict. (It's soda! Just a joke) Support your local grocer!
