We stop in here for lunch after work pretty frequently. The food is so tasty and really warms you up on cold days. I love that she has so many vegan options and you get so much injera. Everyone here is so lovely and friendly, it really makes you feel good about supporting a small business. Very affordable and huge portions!

Not the best Ethiopian food in the Rochester area, but not the worst. Lunch here is an all you can eat buffet. In reality, one trip through the buffet is enough. The portions are generous. I can highly recommend the lamb. The lentils are good as well. I wasn't completely thrilled with the ingera, but it wasn't bad. Service was wonderful! Very warm and welcoming.

So amazing. Zemeta is such a kind, gracious host I feel like I'm eating in her home. The smells in this place are indescribable. This is hands down my favorite spot. So many options for herbivores and omnivores alike. BYOB too!

Really tasty stews, awesome rice and injera. Best of all, the lady who owns the restaurant was such a wonderful host and server. She took the time to explain everything and ensured we were satisfied with our dinners. Will certainly be back.

Every time I walk into this place, I feel at home. The woman who serves the food exudes kindness and warmth. The food is incredible every single time. The coffee beats any I have ever had. Zemeta is a must-see in Rochester: one of those hidden gems, rich with culture, thriving with beautiful souls.

10/10 would certainly recommend. Very flavorful and nourishing, great variety of veggies, lentils, legumes and meat curries. Very hospitable vibes. I met Zemeta herself. I could cry tears of joy - a spot that I whole heartedly love in Rochester. You’d be remiss if you didn’t try this place out.

Very kind and inviting woman right when we entered, saw many return customers coming in and chatting happily with her, she let us choose multiple toppings for our injera bread plate too, each were delicious, the lamb tibs was a favorite, as well as the cabbage. Kind warm small interior, good Ethiopian jazz playing, and cheap prices. Would love to be a regular here. Highly recommend!

I dropped by on a Friday for the lunch buffet. There was a good variety of vegetarian and meat dishes to select from. My server loaded up my plate with a variety of beef, lamb and vegetable choices and provided an extra plate of injera ( think of spongy, slightly tangy pita bread) to scoop and soak with. Because I was in a rush, I only did one plate from the buffet, but that was more than filling. Everything was delicious! I've been a fan of this place for years now, and being able to stop in for lunch is a great break from working at home. Things to note if you are new to Ethiopian food - you will rarely find a good Ethiopian restaurant with speedy service. I'm sure there are exceptions, but it helps to have slightly different expectations from the start. The service is still friendly and accommodating. Stopping by for the lunch buffet is a very good way to try out this kind of food. My bill with a drink was $15 which I consider quite reasonable.

I absolutely loved this this place!!! I always order the Ye Beg Wet and love the injera but I ask them to wrap it when I order from grubhub and it's so much better to me. I dined in one time and the atmosphere was great the service was excellent as well. I also tried the Ethiopian coffee and fell in love! The woman making the coffee came out and had it smoking for me while she was making it and it was a great surprise. I will definitely be back and smoke some hookah at the lounge area.
