The museum is very blunt about what happened and how. If you have children be prepared for deep discussions about how and why this happened. I'm still feeling emotionally drained from the exhibits.
I've lived in Virginia for 15 years and never knew this place existed. It's located in a little hidden spot of the city but there is so much history you can find here. They have free parking on site which is awesome. A must see if you are visiting Richmond.
