Review Chihuahua's Cantina & Grill - Reno

A first everything came out great. The waitress took our order, got us our drinks and the food was alright. Then came down to the dozen of oysters we ordered and they were just big, nasty and definitely were not as fresh as they say. Had a few of them and just had to stop. Didn’t not finished them. On top of that, after the waitress took our order she disappeared and didn’t not check back with us at all! I had to get up and look for her to ask for more water, salt and napkins which is very disappointing customer service. For the total price we paid overall, definitely not worth it!! You can get better quality of food and service from a Mexican food truck than here. This place had my stomach tossing and turning all night and morning. I can bet anything it was the oysters they served! Glad I did not get food poisoning…… couldn’t even complain about it to the waitress because like I mention, she disappeared. Glad to say I will not be coming here again.

Great place to host a large party, their menu is large and their drink selection is good 👍 try the fried ice cream, it's delicious! Only issue was wait time but that's everywhere now and days. 🤷‍♀️

Was driving down Virginia Street looking for a place to eat. Since I was from out of town I didn't know the local places. I went in and sat at the bar. Service was pretty good and the food was good as well. Overall, I would recommend eating here.

The portions are definitely satisfying, and I really enjoyed the fajitas. I felt the prices were pretty reasonable given the area, and I felt the service was great. Everyone was very attentive and I felt welcome to sit and enjoy a meal even by myself 😊 the only thing I did not like were the chips and salsa which I felt were a little bland. Maybe I'd the salsa was a little spicy I would have enjoyed it. Other then thag overall, I really enjoyed me experience.

The most disgusting Mexican food ever. I can’t imagine someone would eat anything like this. Cod tacos was not cod, have no flavor. Everything was cold and disgusting. I would not recommend and I’m not sure why they even have 4 point anything stars. To add insult to injury, They also got the order wrong.

Service was amazing! We had a bar table, drink specials were great. The guacamole was so fresh! It was a perfect evening, the service pace was perfect. She was thoughtful in recommendations and was so sweet. The food runner even made sure we had everything we needed. The manager was even walking the floor! We will completely be back!!!!

My partner/ best boy on the planet were served by the bartender Sean. Honestly, the service was very attentive. He even ran back to the kitchen to ask if something had dairy for me. He asked us if we needed some recommendations when it was appropriate, and also just let us be when we didn’t want to be bothered. Kudos on the service, and the food was superb as well. No photos to share because we ate it too fast 👍🏻

The food is ok, the fajitas need more chicken on top. The chimichangas had grounded beef but let me tell you it was too salty. They need to cut down the salt. The quesadilla was too cheesy, need more meat in it. Overall, it's just ok. But not the best.

I've eaten at the Winnemucca Chihuahua's. I can highly recommend it. The beer is always cold. The chips and salsa are fresh. The food is excellent. So far in 3 years I have never had a bad meal here. Vegetarian burrito, soups, fajitas, salads, burritos, steak, chicken and other have been excellent. The service is great. The people are helpful and really go out of their way to be helpful. I highly recommend.

Beautiful place in and out. Our doggy loves this place, too. Authentic Mexican food and menu options, and super nice and kind waitress. Also, great vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options. If you’re around you definitely should stop by.

Great food. Friendly staff even though our guy was 2 days new. Apple chimi Dessert was to die for. Highly recommend.

The quick - Very authentic, tasty, and reasonably priced with good customer service. The Bar - First off, they serve sotol at the bar. Doesn't get more Chihuahuense than this. I think you have to ask for it since it may be a private reserve or something since they have it in a little wood barrel behind a bunch of clutter on the bar. My recommendation would be to add Hacienda Chihuahua Sotol Añejo to the bar options. The margaritas we had were okay, although they ran out of the skinny margarita mix. The food - The chile relleno and pork tamal combo is one of the best I've had - and I order these two items at every Mexican restaurant I eat at (ask Amy). These two items are not easy to make and if you are doing them well then something is right in the cocina. The enchiladas suizas Amy had were also delish. - and they put out four big enchiladas per plate! These entres were very authentic.....almost like mom made them. The "tres leches" cake is a must have when they have it - my entree came with a generous slice of it. Ambience - It was 100 degrees outside and the shaded outside seating was cool and had plenty of diners.....inside it was very cool, almost too cold for me. We were there on a Sunday evening and the place was packed but we were seated immediately in the bar area. Plenty of big screens to watch your favorite team. How 'bout them Golden State Warriors! Parking - Plenty of parking in their lot or street. ALTHOUGH, we almost drove of the sidewalk and curb on the north end of the parking lot since it appears to be a driveway. Apparently, by the tire marks on the sidewalk, other drivers also thought this. Prices - This was one of the lowest prices I've seen for a chile relleno and pork tamal combo. Remember these are hard to make? I can't remember the price. I travel a lot and thought the other entres appear very reasonably priced, especially the steaks, although I have not tried them. Customer Service - Very friendly; family oriented. A family with a disabled child came in after we did and the staff was exceptionally caring in the service provided given the place was packed. Constructive Criticism - Salsa needs improvement - too watery. I would be willing to pay extra for the roasted ingredient salsa made in Chihuahua. The standard margaritas need improvement. I did not order one of their specialty margaritas. Bottom Line - I was thinking of given them four and a half stars but since the staff put up with my obnoxiousness........5 Stars!

Best authentic Mexican food in town! EVERYTHING is homemade and delicious! Their Micheladas are the best, and they actually bottle and sell the mix so you can enjoy one at home! If I could rate it more than five stars, I would. This place is that great, and more!

My sister and I went to Chihuahuas yesterday for the first time. We were seated immediately and offered menus and drinks. The food we ordered was absolutely fantastic! Even the Diet Coke was awesome. And service was way above par. We will definitely be going back, even tho we live 2 hrs away in Elko. Seems like a good reason to go for a drive!

This place is delicious. An excellent value and ginormous burritos. If you make your own combo, you get dessert! The Chihuahua margarita is legit, fresh lime juice and Patron for $9.

Salsa and chips good. Food not very hot(temp) or flavorful. Enchilada sauce tasted right out of can, not homemade. Service not great (ordered combo and was supposed to get dessert with it but did not). Too many great Mex restaurants now in Reno to go back here.

The best! It's been a favorite from when it first opened. One of these days I'll try something other than the chiles rellenos....

Had a great meal there. Everyone in my group enjoyed their meals. I had 3 Carnitas Tacos that came with rice and beans. Make sure to save room for dessert. The Tres Leche Cake is rich and filling but wonderful! Service was great too!
