Review Shawarmageddon - Reno

David Behbahani
Not authentic at all whatsoever. Seriously is there not one shawarma or euro place in Reno? The taste was alright but it had nothing to do with shawarma. Small inside with like 3 seats, so get ready to grab your food and go cause if there are 2 people inside you aren't sitting down in that small area.

We just moved back to the area, and I'm SO glad we found this place! The staff were very cool and nice, the decor is fun, and the food is unbelievable! Huge portions and some of the best Falafel I've EVER had! Will definitely be going back for more!

Food is trash, paid $70 for shawarma wrap, bowl and fries. Fries were burnt and over salted. Wrap was disgusting, food is not even fit for animals. Should have gone with my instincts from the looks of the food but still tasted it and spit it out. Save your money.

"Anyone without a sense of humor is too pretentious to be a good magician." ~Anton Szandor LaVey (The Secret Life of a Satanist: The Authorized Biography of Anton LaVey) If you happen to take the time to scroll down my little profile here you will find that I am not shy about WHAT I put into my mouth, food-wise. WHERE I actually sit and savor said food, is a different story. That being said, Shawarmageddon is one of the most eccentric places I have had the pleasure of dining. The musical selections, vibe, and energy (and screech of the "Gate to Hell" (the door actually leading into the kitchen, as the chef gleefully called it as I was his first customer of the day on the day of my visit)) all add to the lair-like ambiance and simplistic decor of the establishment. I was impressed, to say the least, at how the intended theme of Shawarmageddon far exceeded its mark. The moment of truth came by way of a brown paper sack and wrapped in a sheet of custom logo imprinted sandwich/meat/deli paper. This added level of attention to detail was also impressive. The wrap I selected was as flavorful as it was stuffed with tender lamb (sorry Jesus), savory spices, sauces, and crisp veggies; with just enough heat to let you know that "Hell" is gonna require a lot of ice (if that's the intended choice of your eternal final destination). The spiced house brewed tea I selected was equally flavorful and refreshing. Not one to ever judge a book by its cover, I have to say I'm glad I finally stopped by and elated that I made it out of Shawarmageddon unscathed and with my soul intact. Although, after reviewing some of the pictures, I realize it was a close call, indeed...

What can I say about a legend? This was one of the single best eating experiences of my life. I scarfed my shawarma down like a starving goblin underneath a stairwell. It was well seasoned, delicious, and super filling. More than enough for two meals, and because of that I won't eat a full meal the rest of the day. The ambiance of it is quite literally shoved under a stairwell, and it was a truly hidden gem. I wish that I had moved to Reno before, and had eaten there more than once. Today, Reno has lost a legend. I was one of the last customers, and will cherish that meal for weeks and years to come. The restaurant is now, unfortunately closed. Hopefully not forever. 06/12/22 Enjoy the Pie guys, let me know how you like the recipe.

I was looking for a gyro, they offered me a lamb wrap. I’ve never had shredded lamb with 3 times the amount of cabbage mixed in a 12 inch cold wrap. And kind of way over priced.

I got the lamb wrap, partner got the chicken wrap. Also got a side of fries. Fries were bomb! Wraps were terrible. Inedibly spicy, no hummus even though we asked for it, lamb was flavorless, chicken was flavorless and dry. Neither of us even finished the wraps. Dude at the counter was a nice guy though.

Place is creepy. Wraps had too much cabbage and smelled like vinegar. I ordered the Lamb wrap and it didn't taste like lamb. Maybe shredded meat something. I trashed it. Cashier was rude to one of our colleagues when asked to cut the sandwich in half and slammed the door on our way out. I'm never going back there.

This place has amazing food! Everything is great, and the spicy chickpeas are a must! However, be aware it is almost literally a hole in the wall. This is not what my grandmother would have called "a sit down and be served place". It doesn't matter though, the food is some of the best around, and my husband and I eat here every time we are in Reno.

I saw the sign on the side of the building and immediately stopped. I hadn't had shawarma in years, but the graphic drew me in because I knew it would be my kind of place. I walked in and Tool was blasting from the back room. The menu was apocalyptic. The guy behind the counter was super helpful and hooked me up with a delicious shawarma wrap with habanero sauce. It was delicious. I had dream of a lamb fuelled apocalypse Sunday night. 666/666 would recommend.

It was amazingly yummy!!! I had the Lamb Tabbouleh, the lamb was cooked to perfection with the proper amount of char for amazing flavor, I chose the Labneh sauce and it was the perfect blend of flavor for my taste buds. I also had the Crimson Death to drink it was a good blend for this Rooibos tea. It was my first time eating middle eastern food, I was pleasantly surprised and I will return for more!!!

So here is my review. First of all the Swamp Thing Tea is amazing. Ordered one, ended up ordering a second one before the food was even ready because I sucked it down so fast! Then I ordered the two types of platters they sell, Lamb and Chicken, you can also get these as wraps. Both were excellent! I have one thing, actually I take that back, I have two things to suggest... the flatbread should be wrapped separately because parts of it became a bit soggy being in the container with the meat and the vegetables. And the sauce, I know it was on the menu but I didn't even put it together, even though it said chili oil on it was a little too much for me for my taste. I just can't do hot anymore and I'm glad I ordered extra of the yogurt sauce to cool it down for me. But that's my personal taste. :-) The meat was really good especially, for me, the lamb. We also got the spiced chickpeas which are freaking amazing! Think popcorn like crunchy and not spicy in a hot way but in a spiceful middle eastern way. Either way I highly recommend this place and I hope you're smart enough to patronize it. I know, I will be back!! ♡♡♡♡♡♡

Been having a craving for Greek food and shawarmageddon really came through. Their lamb is cooked so perfectly and the pickled cucumbers are tangy that every flavor is tasted individually throughout the shawarma. Highly recommend and don’t forget to ask for a sticker ya dingus!

The service is amazing, the food is spicy goodness, and the tea is really good. They let us try all the sauces before we bought anything. I cannot say enough good things about this place. If I was local I'd be eating here weekly.

This place is awesome. Great people involved who have their tongue on the pulse of delicious. A small but effective menu that is peppered (see what I did there) with delicious daily specials to add variety. Stop in and treat to your taste buds to a crushing flavor experience that is inspired by far away lands? The lamb is unreal and do yourself a favor and get a tea. The Crimson Death and Swamp Thing are refreshing and are filled with tasty. Do it. Go. Take care of the HEAVY appetite. Your welcome.

An absolutely must-have. Easily in my top five rotating food fixes in reno. They abuse garlic like no other, and I love them for it. Lamb AND falafel are magnificent in a way only The Geddon can pull off.

I went in here for the first time today. I am an extremely picky eater and just ordered a wrap with only lamb and sauce in the wrap. The cook is a passionate guy and came out from the kitchen to tell Me that the dirt outside would taste better than the wrap I was trying to order. Even offered to buy me my next wrap if I would try it the way they are supposed to be prepared. Gotta love his passion for his food. Though he said it would taste like dirt it was the best damn dirt I have ever had.

This place was unique! Loved the metal music, the decor, and I love the concept! I tried the lamb shawarma. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town!

Would never be on this side of town unless I had a reason to go but heard about his place and was told we had to try it and I can honestly say this place was amazing. I’ll definitely be back :)

Best hummus I've ever had. My only complaint is that I forgot to order the spiced chickpeas... Guess what I'm getting next time? Had the falafel platter. The falafel was soft without being crumbly, the cabbage slaw was very light & an excellent counter when I got too exuberant with the harissa. Hubby says the lamb shawarma was, "Deathariffic. With an awesome guitar solo!"

Always great food! Could use a better beer selection!

This place is fantastic. My significant other and I both had a chicken wrap this past weekend, and I'm still thinking about it. Can't wait to go back.
