Excellent tasting, perfectly cooked food with generous portions. The bleu cheese portobello appetizer is more delicious than you'd even imagine, and a worthy eponymous feature. Brussels also great flavors, and our mains were exactly what we'd hoped for. Lovely to sit outside when the weather's right. Server was friendly but not as attentive as she could be. Still just a bit green maybe - nothing unforgivable.

We have lived in San Jose for 18 years and many weekends we go to nearby cities to spend the weekend. Redwood City is one of my favorites, especially Broadway. We tried many places for lunch and dinner and I wanted to try something new for our anniversary. I made my reservation for here on the Opentable application. There they asked me if it was for an event and I replied that it was our 18th anniversary. We arrived on time and I told them that I had a reservation at 7:30. There was no table with the Reserved sign but luckily there were several free tables on the terrace. We ordered fried calamari to share, my husband Chicken Piccata and I had Seafood Risotto. The bread took a long time to arrive. We do not drink alcohol so only ice water was our option. The chicken was tender but a little salty, my rice very tasty. We wanted to order more bread but our waiter was attending tables inside. =( After finishing dinner, I wanted to talk to the manager to ask him if they knew it was a special dinner. When he found out, he improvised a complementary dessert. We are not friends of sweets but we gladly accept adding a coffee and a tea with milk. When the bill came, we were quite surprised: it was close to $100 without tips.
Maybe I had very high expectations of this place. I wanted it to be an unforgettable night and it was rather mediocre. I don't think we will return to this place. Is 3 stars good with extremely high prices.

We ate here on a chilly afternoon before watching a movie and we had a awesome dining experience.
Our waiter, Jose was great. He turned on the patio heaters so we were surrounded by them. It was nice and toasty.
We ordered the Skirt Steak entree. Includes a side of steam assorted vegetables and rice, Linguini Frutti di mare- linguini served with garlic, clams, mussels & shrimp in a red sauce and the Spaghetti Carbonara.
The food was delicious and had lots of flavor! It was so good, we forgot to take pictures.

Been here for twenty years while all the other restaurants on the street have come and gone. Very good food, very reasonable prices, great atmosphere although a little noisy with trains going by but still a lot of fun. We enjoyed all the dishes although the steak was overcooked at first when we asked for rare it was more like medium. But the waitress courteously took the dish back and the replacement steak was perfect.

I came in and sat at the bar after spotting the steak dinner specials on Wednesday's for 20$. There's 6 options to choose and since my initial visit I've now been back twice because I've enjoyed the experience so much. My girlfriend joined on my most recent visit and had a grilled chicken salad which was also very good. I can't say enough about the wholesome friendly staff and clientele we've met and chatted with over dinner at the bar. I would certainly suggest stopping in here. Specials each night, but of course I'm partial to Wednesdays.

Great place to eat , we always try to come on Friday to order the Cioppino. The fried green beans are also excellent . Highly recommended.

Great seating and service. Food is average but ingredients are fresh. The black nero noodles were delicious with the saffron sauce, but the shrimp that came with this was cooked but under grilled. So I took it home and pan fried them and they were delicious.

I always love dining at Portabello Grill! The service is always excellent and the food is wonderful! One of my favorites is the pear salad. And I enjoy both hamburger Mondays (the fries are to die for) and steak Wednesdays. Actually, I have never had a meal that I did not really enjoy.

I've been to Portobello Grill many times, it has never disappointed us. Great food and amazing service. Just celebrated our mother's 70th birthday there and it couldn't have been better. Jose and Ben were amazing!

We had a great experience at the Portobello Grill. My son recommended it and we enjoyed it. I had the lamb shank and it was delicious. My husband had the skirt steak and it was a little sweet for his taste since it was marinated with soy sauce -Asian style. But we discovered later from the waiter that you can ask for it without the sauce - good to know. The location is right next door to the movie theater so it will be our next movie night dinner place.
