Fat Daddy's B B Q

Stopped on our way through town. 100% worth it and I'll make a point of stopping next time I pass through. The ribs and tri-tip were fantastic, the BBQ potato is not to be missed, and the Caesar salad was a perfect balance to the sweet & vinegary sauce. But the best part was the baked beans... I usually am not a fan, but I would come back for the beans! Also, no gluten in the sauces or rub, so safe for those of us who are sensitive.

This is the hole in the wall smoke house you've been looking for. It has no ambience, unless you count all the dollar bills people have stuck to the walls over the years. They are stained brown with years of smoke imbued into them. They stand testament to the daily ritual of smoked ribs and chicken that come from the kitchen. I took a chance on Fat Daddy's on Lake Day. Bunch of friends out on a boat. I ordered the 10 peice chicken and 2 racks of ribs. I picked them up from a crew who looked like they'd been there since 4 am smoking the meat. And the meat! Perfectly fall-off-the -bone chicken, excellent smoke flavor without being overpowering, and the chicken was still moist, a neat trick after cooking something for hours. The ribs pulled freely from the bone without disintegrating into mush, the sweet spot between super tender and just enough chew to be fun. Again, well smoked but still subtle enough to taste the actual pork. Finally, the sauce itself: full flavored, bold but not rude, allowing the meat to shine through. It coated the meat with a thin glaze, not a gloppy goo that sticks like mayonnaise. These people NAILED it. Highly recommended. Note* I only ordered meat, no sides, so I can't speak to those.

Fat Daddy's is the best BBQ place I've found in Shasta county, so far. The prices are very decent, the food was pretty good, service was.. Alright. The man wasn't very enthusiastic, he seemed like he didn't want to be there, which I understand. Everyone has bad days. The guy was helpful and made me laugh. The rest of the staff seemed like they were having a good time, wich is always good. I liked the place, I will go back. If you have a craving for bbq and don't have time to do it yourself, this is the place to go. Prices are fair, food is good, everything seems to be made from scratch, and the portions are pretty big. (I mean the place is called Fat Daddy's so it lives up to its name) 8 out of 10 based on the location, taste, presentation, and service. Definitely worth checking out. 👌
