My family & I have been coming to San Remo for 15+ years. During this time, we've never had a bad meal, never been mistreated by the staff, & none of us has even gotten sick. Have we waited for a table with a reservation? Yes, on a holiday, or at 7:30pm on a busy Saturday night. A few weeks ago, we witnessed a gentleman verbally abuse the hostess, because his table wasn't ready when he thought it should have been. She kept her cool, & did her best to accommodate him. On the flip side, we've met a lot of really nice people here. The environment lends itself to being very social. The food is consistently excellent, & the staff has always gone out of their way to ensure that we have a positive dining experience.

Upscale low-key (if that is possible). Not a lot of airs about this place, just great food, great service and BYOB. Reminds me of many spots in the Village or Little Italy. The food is delicious and ambience very comfortable. It is a regular for us and there is rarely a wait. Should be far more popular than it is. And I am kinda happy about that as I can always get a table, even on a Friday night! They do take reservations, if you want to be on the safe side.

Have eaten at San Remo for over 20 years, but last night will be the last time. Had a 6:30 PM reservation, were seated about 6:50 PM. Appetizers came out in a reasonable time, but the main dishes did not start to come out until 8:25 PM, which was totally unacceptable. When we asked to speak with a manager, they sent over a waiter from another area of the restaurant to speak with us.....what a joke !! Our waiter, Anthony was great and kept us informed of the progress from the kitchen. There were 7 of us, and 2 of the main dishes were not correct. The food was okay but not up to what we have had in the past. People at the table next to us, who were seated at the same time we were, left at 8:30 PM because they did even receive their appetizers. San Remo has gone Down Hill.

Summary- Horrible Service, they hold no respect for a reservation Had a 7:30 reservation on a Saturday night for a family member's birthday. Arrived about 5 minuted early, and they said that our table's occupants were finishing up with the check. Over the course of the next 30 minutes, the hostess would pop back in to the waiting area and say, "they're wrapping up, they're wrapping up, give us two minutes." After over a half an hour past our reservation, we expressed our frustration and were met with not apologies, only, "there's nothing more we can do- people are lingering." We did not want to waste any more time or give them our patronage, so we called Buona Sera, were told we could be accommodated quickly, left and had an amazing meal down the street. Can't comment on the food, never made it until the dining area even with our reservation.

Went on christmas even with my family..service was terrible..Bruno Mars blasting on radio, no Christmas music. Entrees were served before appetizers came out. Waiter was never available and rarely checked on us. He was oblivious to the fact we hadn't received apps and even when apps came out, it was all wrong. The most amazing part was the fact we were only one of three tables in there so it wasn't crowded. Couldnt locate a manager to complain to. Place is run terrible. To make matters worse, my daughter had food poisoning the next day. I will never go back.

Chef is back and making FRESH PASTA! Consistently delicious, we enjoy the way Giovanni prepares seafood dishes. The appetizer for two is outrageously good, and every special we have had is worthy of its name, even though the regular menu is also spectacular. Courteous and helpful, the servers attend to your needs while not making you feel rushed. This restaurant is cozy and romantic, and not as crowded as the Newman Springs Road location. A big bonus is that being near the Red Bank railroad station, parking is readily available on the street or in the lot. Perfect for pre-theatre at Two River Theater or Count Basie. The other thing we love is that it is BYOB; why pay twice as much for your favorite wine at a restaurant that has a liquor license? Make sure to make a reservation, though!!!

The service was awful, we had 8 o'clock dinner reservations and did not get seated till almost 9pm. Our server got both of our meals wrong, the bread was not fresh and tasted like cardboard! ! The food was terrible it was a total nightmare! Totally mismanaged and the chef is awful!!!I could give it zero stars I would!!!! Stay away!!!
