Tail O'the Pup

We saw this place on on way to Saranac Lake from Lake Placid. The whole setup looked authentic and we wanted to come back. So went there for lunch the day after and loved the vibes. The staff was great, there was live music, and food was good. We ordered burger, wings, BBQ chicken and onion rings. Waffle fries were great and burger was excellent. Highly recommend. The melted cheese and the bun made it even better.

Very popular roadside bbq with lots of outdoor seating. This place has a real summer vacation vibe. I tried bbq ribs, wings, fish platter and clam chowder. The ribs were excellent and the chowder was delicious and uniquely spicy. The wings and fish were forgettable. I'm very sad they took the brisket off the menu. Seems like they know how to run a smokehouse and should do more than just ribs. Remember to tip well. The staff are running hard here.

The food was amazing. Our server on the other hand was not. He was very short with the answers he gave us. We visited from NC and had never been before. Heard lots of great things about it. The service wasn't great or even good for that matter. Portions of the food was fantastic. Above the amount I would have thought.

Best Ribs Ever? Definitely an overstatement. While not the worst ribs I've ever tasted they were quite tough and the fat was not properly rendered. Fries were cold and bland although the cornbread was tasty. Nice atmosphere to grab a beer but I would recommend to skip their food. I seem to have remembered the food being better but it's looks like it's under new management and their kitchen has dropped in quality and consistency. Server was very nice and attentive though. P.S. the frozen margaritas were pretty much margaritas with chopped ice.

Food was good, however we noticed our server never returned to check on us. Our tables on either side was asked but we weren't I still tip well 30% . We went a second time just in case it was a off day. Unfortunately we weren't treated like the locals, our server picked up our empty drinks and never ask if we needed anything. We still had food were eating with no beverages. We had intended to order some takeout also but I don't spend my money were I'm not welcomed. Check you staff and educate them on hospitality for all people !!! Two stars for the food and we will not be returning

Went for a day trip up North and stopped in for some lunch. They have good BBQ, there are small camps to rent for an overnight and is actually cozy. There's entertainment and it's pretty relaxed. Our first outing since this craziness started. I think everyone is trying to adapt to a new normal.. I know that my hubs and I are. The Pup is a low key place to get reacquainted with life again😊
