What you're looking at in this photo is a picture of a five star meal. We're from Wisconsin, sitting here in SD at El Sombrero as I'm writing this, shoveling the remains of a meal into my face with chips because I'm not going to let this glorious food go to waste. This is a worthy stop whether you're local or out of town.
Staff is friendly, good is great, value can't be beat.

I absolutely love eating here! I eat here almost once a week. Service is good, food is delicious and the food comes out quickly, no matter how busy they get. I only gave 4 stars this time because the ran out of horchata! 😉

I live all the way across the state and this is my favorite spot to eat when I travel to Rapid City. Friendly service and awesome food!! Never disappointed!

Food and service was by far the best we've had on the vacation. If you love good Mexican food you have to give them a try. Try to save room for desert the sopapilla's are amazing! Oh and Margs are great and unique, ask about them!

Loco Burrito was pretty decent but my fiance's chimichanga was a bit lacking. Not a lot of flavor and not a lot of topping for it. As someone who grew up eating at taquerias in California the tacos were the saddest thing I have seen at a Mexican restaurant in my life. It was literally just like soft shell taco from taco bell or something you could make at home. If you have eaten good Mexican in other parts of the country and are looking for it here in Rapid this is not the place. There are other places with better flavors. On the plus size the portions were large.

My family and I escaped the worst state in the nation, California. I lived in San Diego for 30 years while I was in the Navy. After moving to Rapid City, I didn't expect to good Mexican food. I was wrong! El Sombrero is delicious Mexican food. You don't want to pass this place if you love Mexican food as much as my family and I do. Our new favorite restaurant!

Excellent authentic food! Nothing fancy about the place - but amazing food. We eat A LOT of Mexican food and have tried many, many places...but this place definitely stands out from the others. Fresh, flavorful. Have tried all sorts of dishes while we stayed in the area for a month and everything was delicious from soup, to chili rellenos and all of the usuals. A must try!

The food was amazing. Super good! We were extremely disappointed that there was a 3.something percent charge for paying with a card. Our $100 order should have been plenty. It is illegal to charge more than your card processing costs. Impressed with the food, disappointed with the illegal card processing fee.
