So overall this is some of the best BBQ I’ve had in North Carolina. The plates are not just a traditional plate of BBQ, it’s simple yet delicious and unique. They have a lot of sauce options. Servings are generous.
That being said they are new and we went in with a reservation of 16 which ended up being 18 but we still waited for 30 minutes for drinks. They are still working out the kinks on the service delivery but the food is so good it really didn’t waiver my opinion.

First visit was yesterday. I was having lunch witha friend. And Southern Charred knocked our socks off! Everything was so good and the price was twice as nice. Its a beautiful resturant with great food. We had the Nachos and smoked chicken sandwich and brisket sandwich! The meat was tender and perfectly smoked! The sweet mashed potatoes were sent straight down from heaven! Im convinced human hands could not create such light whipped creamy perfection. And hush puppies! Stfu puppies is what they should call them cause they are the best i ever had. I cant wait to bring my family back with me. I have 5 kids with healthy appetites and a hubby whos always hungry! So i know theyll love the selection and the taste. And i wont have to cook but the food is just as good as if momma makes it. Plus they gave me a gift card for my birthday! Sothern Charred is the best! A must try for all Raleighites and any visitors. Trust me you wont be disappointed.
One of my favorite places. Best mac and cheese in Raleigh in my opinion. I wish the pool tables both worked and were cleaned. Drinks are always excellent as was the rest of my meal. I'll be back.
First time having Carolina style bbq and it was absolutely fantastic. The plate option to pick your own meat was perfect for my fiancé and I to share. We got pulled pork, brisket, beans, and smashed potatoes. They give hush puppies for free as well as pickles and onions.
It's a pretty loud bar/restaurant. Don't recommend for a quick meal because of how long the food took to arrive. But the staff is so cordial and attentive.
Fantastic food. Also. You can observe or participate in axe throwing while there as well.

I would've gave this place 5 stars but the bartender was just okay as far as her service. There were only about 5 people at the bar so she wasn't over whelmed. I get better service at chik fil a. Lol
It was my first time here. The portions are big. I had wings smothered in Alabama sauce, then Mac and cheese with brisket on top. The flavor is great. The meats are smoked. The mac and cheese was plated on a skillet so it was super hot!

My husband and I switched to a ketogenic diet and have become selective eaters. I enjoy getting the meat trio plate with collard greens, and green beans. The burnt ends weren't so good our first visit, but they really changed the game on the second visit. Gave the burnt ends another try and they were melt in your mouth. But the ribs are my favorite!! You just have to try them and be the judge. I like the games that are available. Foosball, connect 4 etc...keeps the little guy busy. They have an excellent porch area that's dog friendly. And lots of televisions for game nights. We love it there, and plan to come again.
Oh and clean bathrooms!!!
Love their BBQ and you can't beat the variety of sauces they offer. Check out their trivia night as well, tons of fun.
Our server was great, she was busy but very attentive. We ordered the pretzels for an appetizer, and they were amazing. Fresh and all 3 dipping sauces were good. I split the Custom combo with my husband, the portions are large, and the meats were delicious. This place is great for a group outing. We will definitely return.
We went for my friend’s birthday the other day. There were about 12 of us and it seemed like there was just one server and the bartender (Sunday night). The server’s name was Dom and he was excellent! He kept up with our drinks, food, and we all needed separate checks. The food was good! I got the 4 sides plate and my boyfriend got the pulled pork. Both delicious! Highly recommend the potato salad and hush puppies! Some of my friends ordered mixed drinks and they were pleased with them. Overall, the service from the bartender and Dom was amazing! The food was great! And the atmosphere was cool!
