Review Brew Coffee Bar - Raleigh

Paul Cray
There are quite a few cafes in the area, and all of them are vying for your business and attention. Brew offers relief from all the noise with great coffee, a relaxed atmosphere, and delicious small bites. The chalk board menu looks like a lot of the coffees offered are rotated through, meaning that you might find a hidden gem as Brew uses many different roasters in contrast to the other cafes which usually only use one coffee roaster. A bank of Chemex are in constant use for amazing pour overs and they weigh everything accurately. This isn't just to save them food cost, but to keep the coffee you drink consistent. They use rishi tea, and trying the London fog, I have to say it provides excellent balance to the steamed milk. The focus on the brew coffee bean quality is the same for the espresso roasted beans. The shots pulled still have their crema and it tastes incredibly fresh. It does not have any of that metallic lackluster flavor from beans that sit and an old unserviced machine. All in all, I'd say come in and try what they have to offer. It's a pretty sweet coffee bar.

Stopped here for a few hours to do some work and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Very calm with friendly staff members. I ordered a lavender late and liked it enough to get a second. Be warned that their regular espresso amount is a double shot, so order accordingly! Also, they have a little hideaway area in the back of you want a more private setting.

The cold brew was delicious, as well as the Greek yogurt with granola! Very relaxed vibe inside. Great place to go grab a cup of coffee!

I hold this place to a high standard with all the quality coffee shops in the Raleigh- Durham area. This is one that gets the style of comfortable coffee is king. With a small modern bistro feel, this is a good place to catch up with a friend, finish a paper, or enjoy a coffee brewed in your own mug.

Although parking outside the shop is sparse, it is easily accessible for both Peace students and professionals working in DTR thanks to its location in Seaboard Station. After I heard all the horrible stories to come out of Helios, I decided to stop going there, and needed a new coffee shop to spend my afternoons at. The answer to this problem was BREW. The baristas came to know me by name after my third or fourth visit, and they all seem very knowledgeable about coffee. And speaking of coffee, theirs is fantastic! Depending on the day, i'll either get a nitro cold brew or a pour over, both of which are phenomenal. They have three varieties of beans for pour over and Aeropress use, of which one is locally roasted by Raleigh Coffee Co. They are all great, although my favorite is the Ethiopia Hambela, which also happens to be the most expensive of the three. Go figure. They also carry rotating craft beers, although I can't comment on those. Seating is at something of a premium compared to some of the sprawling shops in Raleigh, but it is usually calm enough that my weekday afternoon visits welcome me with an empty table. There are ample outlets to charge your laptop/phone/other portable technology, and their free wifi gets the job done. I initially wore in-ear headphones while sipping my coffee, but I've found that the music played here is very good, and is hearable while not being at an offensive volume. The walls are decorated with local art, which they kindly place tags underneath. The overall vibe is very laid back, and the shop is a very comfy place to spend a hopefully productive afternoon.

Coffee is great and so are all of the pastries. They take their time and focus on perfection. Can't wait to try some their pour overs.

LOVE this place. I work in the same shopping center and visit BREW often. Their coffee (and entire menu, really) is authentic, original, and delicious. The space is minimalistic, and cozy. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. My order is always made to order, always served with a smile. A great, local alternative to the larger chain coffee stores.

A great place to grab coffee! They're coffee is one of my favorites. I will pick up their coffee grounds to make at home. The seating can be a little sparse though, especially in the winter time when it's too cold to sit outside. The last time I went there there was no indoor seating so I sat outside until a table inside opened up. The staff is really friendly and gave me a few recommendations on what to order. Not much to order there as far as food. At least not what I've seen. Great places to eat nearby though if you're really hungry.

We enjoyed eating outside, and the coffee and bagel were awesome. This is a great spot for just a coffee, or a nice little lunch.

Our favorite coffee house! Really great black coffee and an assortment of coffee drinks that my daughter loves. Fresh baked treats and some occasional live entertainment. It's a little bit of a walk for us over there but worth the trip. Fast and friendly service with reasonable pricing.

Very pleasant experience at BREW. The ambiance is nice, there is a good mix of high tops, bar spots and standard tables. I've had the americano there and a standard house blend coffee both of which were very reasonably priced (under 2 bucks) and very good. The staff is friendly and the art is pretty cool . The crowd is young professionals and hipsters with some business people mixed in.

My favorite coffee place in downtown Raleigh! They have a group of experienced baristas and staff. They rotate their coffee selection to keep things fresh and take great care in brewing their coffee so it comes out great every time! They even have a good selection of beer and wine.

BREW is a nicely tucked away coffee shop in Seaboard station. It's hidden enough where I know I won't run into people I know, but not out of the way. They have a great window in the back for a cozy nook. I've been going there since the first opened on occasion. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful, and they have probably the best bagels and cream cheese (for a coffee shop) in town. My only complaint is the size of their tea. I've always asked for a large cup only to be given the teeniest little thing of tea with a MASSIVE amount of tea leaves. I have a feeling this is a management decision not employees lack of communication due to the amount of times I've explicitly asked for a large tea (from years of different employees). Anyways, I wouldn't mind paying a bit more for the larger cup, I just want more hot water! Tea leaves are going to waste unless I can brew another cup at home. I usually venture elsewhere because of this unless I desperately want their bagel and cream cheese.

Best Pour Over...Ever. We had been going to Helios but when Brew opened we never looked back. The owner is really friendly, and the staff has been steeped in the ways of coffee. I highly recommend it. They really know their product and have a rotating selection of good coffees. I also love that tax is included, makes buying coffee so much easier.

Brew is a small little coffee shop which uses good quality beans and offers a relaxing environment. The location is right in a nice little shopping center and has wonderful outdoor seating. Great place to have a cuppa while you read a book, or wait while family are going shopping.

LOVE BREW! I always go there on Saturdays to work on my business, get a cold brew and hang out in the space for about 2 hours. Mike and Cindy are awesome and super friendly. The staff is very attentive and the place always has an energy to it. Highly recommend it.

Brew is an incredible café! The coffee and pastries they have to offer there are some of the best you will find not only in Raleigh, but in North Carolina. If you get a chance, their Mocha and Blueberry Bran Muffins are award worthy. There is a great community feel to Brew, with everyone from the staff to the Patrons being incredibly friendly and approachable. The staff their coffee, beers and teas and are more than willing to share their knowledge and passion with you. I can't get enough of Brew, so happy that it is in my back yard!!!

BREW is one of the only coffee shops around to rotate their coffees and they serve tasty craft beer. One of my favorite items is the oatmeal with walnuts. On the coffee side, you can not go wrong with the Nitro Cold Brew, it drinks like a beer, but it is only coffee. The staff are always friendly and the coffee is always extremely tasty!
