Review La Cocina De Mama Greta - Raleigh

The food is delicious and as authentic. The prices in some of the things are bit more than they should be for what you get but in others is ok. Delicious pupusas which is a corn tortilla that is a little thicker and with pork, bean or Cheese filling they are amazing. The Riguas are sweet yellow corn and they come with small piece of cheese and sour cream but is a bit pricey not sure we will get it again. The baleada’s are delicious and in the picture you can see the filling they are price is just right. The mama Greta carne asada was good but a bit pricey and the quality of the steak is not that great. Flavors were good overall.

Great food and a good variety of choices for central American and Mexican dishes. Flavored drinks need more real fruit or less sugar. Overall good service. Not in the best location but once inside, it gets better.

The food was excellent. I liked that they play Christian music.

Fresh, clean, home-cooked Salvadoran food.. Friendly service. Excellent, highly recommended. Bizarre that an establishment catering to Central Americans would have Fox news playing on the TV.

Excellent and authentic Salvadorean cuisine. Pupusas are some of the best I've tasted so far! Chicken soup 🍲 was very full of vegetables and chicken

One of my favorite tastes in town, very flavorful but not overpowering to a point that you can’t taste the main ingredient or food. Taste fresh and very comforting! A taste of home for salvadorians and even for Caribbeans! It supports any most diets because of the way food is prepared. I was on a whole30 diet and I had great tasty choices👌🏽. The atmosphere and service is respectful and friendly. I’m addicted to this place and my kids love it too😌 I recommend this for any family.

Hands down most authentic Latin American food in the triangle. Great prices and big portions! I love me some mama grets and frequently stop in for a steak baleada. While you’re in go ahead and treat yo self to an horchata… you won’t be disappointed!

I went to try a plate that one of the waitress told me over the phone on my way there and was a really good meal as a dinner 🍽 😋 I definitely enjoyed and going back there again.

Ate here today and the service + food was outstanding. Prices are EXTREMELY reasonable and the wait time is great. I asked for suggestions and the pupusas were the winner. The pork and cheese was just as described!! Also had the chicken and cheese with rice and beans with a aide of guacamole. The best part is everything is made in house! You can literally taste the freshness. I recommend this place a million times. Dont sleep on this amazing homey restaurant. You will not be dissappinted!!!

Came here for the first time and had the pupusas. My favorite were the chicken pupusas, they tasted good and they weren't very greasy like they are in other places. They gave us green salsa and it complimented the pupusas well, it was spicy and flavorful. I also had the tamarind juice and it was really good, one of the best I've tried.

This restaurant was recommended to me by a lady from El Salvador, and I was not disappointed. The pupusas were excellent. We also enjoyed chayote relleno, plantanos fritos, great rice, and a nice salad. The servers were very friendly, and the whole place was very clean. I would definitely go back.

The food here is delicious!! Staff is friendly, and food is always out on time. Every time I come here I always have their pupusas and their desayuno típico, the food is fresh, and coffee is fantastic! This is a great place to grab a quick breakfast.

Great food! for the exception of their panes con pollo- it was more of a soup with soggy bread- the flavor was also off. Other than that though, pupas are great, the quesadillas are simply the best.

Owner's need to please customer. When there twice and the 2 times where good until you have to deal with the owner's they have a disrespectful attitude if it wasn't for the customer they wouldn't be open this time we went and the f@$!% owner got mad just because we ask the waitress to change one of the tv's he is a prick

Worst place I have ever been to. The chips were oily and tasted old. The salsa looked like tomatoe sauce out of a can and was horribly acidic. For a party of four the basket of chips was not only gross but only half full. They refused to make any changes to items or take out the meat. I ended up eating beans and rice. The beans tasted as if they were from a can and the rice tasted old. The people I was with had orders that turned out just as horrible. The pious as or whatever they're called looked half burned and were extremely dried. When they asked for hot sauce the waitress came back with a tiny and I mean tiny container. I will never come back to this place. Every time I drive by and I'm with someone I tell them of my horrible experience. I'm glad I went if only because now I make sure no one I know goes there.

So Yummy!. My friend and i decided to dine out and he had mentioned wanting some americana.... i recalled a small place i used to frequent and so we headed to the location.... it was no longer. However, in it's place was Mama Greta's... and we are both adventurous with our foods. So in we went!

I love ethnic restaurants where it feels like i must have been mistaken coming in because i look like none of the other diners :) Good sign! We were seated and brought chips and salsa- the salsa was delicious! So fresh and yummy!

The menu was a little intimidating, but that's kind of exciting.... i like to see unrecognizable choices that require you to look for the English description...

We decided to try the cebiche appetizer, for me- papusas (1 chicken and 1 pork) and for him - the chayote rellenos. The food, in total, was fabulous :) Also, the portions were very generous, so leftovers today!

We'll definitely be back!

LOVE THE PUPUSAS. Ok, so I'm not from El Salvador, nor do I have many Salvadorean friends but I love to try many, many different types of foods so I've tried a lot of pupuserias in the area. I do have to say that these pupusas are by far the best pupusas I've had in the area. They were sooo good. I tried las revueltas, pupusa de queso and pupusas de pollo. All were soo yummy. I will go back and try other things from the menu but they certainly did not disappoint with what I tried.

Loved Mama Greta's. I am a Salvador native, and I was skeptical when I heard of La Cocina de Mama Greta, why? Well simply because I have sampled many Salvadorean restaurants in North Carolina and I have never been trully content with the way the make our food, and I always walked out sad!! I guess I was looking for a place where the food actually reminded me of my Grandmother's cooking back at home.

When I go in a Salvadorean restaurant, I always ask for the main things, which I know are very hard to get right, according to my taste of course, so I went in to La Cocina de Mama Greta's the first day I heard of it, and ordered pupusas, sopa de pollo,(chicken soup), and quesadilla (sweet bread with a cheesy taste to it) and I thought to myself, if this three items do not taste good, I know not to return!!! Well I loved it!!!! and Im soooo happy to have found a restaurant that I can go back to and eat anything and know that it will taste good... I am looking forward to go back and eat there again!!! Im happy I found this place, being that it is well hidden, for I had drove past Red Lobster off of wake forest road and had never known that place was there!!

Mama Greta's is defenately a restaurant I can take all my non-Salvadorean friends to so they can sample our food, because I will know that everything there tastes just right to be settled in the United States, I truly believe it is the closest I will get to home from here... If you are wondering how salvadorean food tastes like Mama Greta's is defenately with out a doubt the place to go!!! When you do go, I hope you like it as much as I did :)

La Cocina de Mama Greta is the type of place that you don’t see coming off of the main road, or the side road, or even the alley that you have to drive down to get there. It’s almost a mythical place that you can only reach if your guide is the keeper of the keys to Hogwarts. Tucked away behind thrift shops and accounting firms that advertise being armed, you can make the journey through fire and ice to reach the door steps of Mama Greta if you so dare. I myself have found my way here twice and I hope no one makes me go back. The two times that I went, I was happy to be with my girlfriend who is an adventurous eater, more so than me at least, meaning: when she sees “Salvadorean” on a sign, she wants to go. If I see Italian, Mexican, a picture of a dragon, or a little old lady holding up biscuits or pancakes, that’s my call to arms, my family’s crest, my dinner bell, but my girlfriend has her ear on the train tracks; she i
