I had grits, a western omelette, toast and a pancake. The grits had a funny taste to it… like they used city water to prepare them, the pancake was average, the omelette was pretty good and so was the Texas toast.

Number one thing to know- I haven’t had a full breakfast that cost under $20 in a looooong time (not counting moms house!). I mean the food to cost ratio is great; they have specials posted and a real nice menu if the specials don’t appeal to you. Great speedy service, really friendly waitstaff, and a pretty cool interior. Anyone remember that show Alice and Mel’s diner !??
A note about the eggs- ask ahead to have them cooked a little longer if you want them crispy on the edges.

I love this homey little unassuming diner next to a gas station. It's family owned, no frills. Delicious reliable food that just feels good. I feel right at home and relaxed, the service is quick and friendly. The French toast is YUM and turkey links as well, delicious as a halal option or just because they taste amazing. 10/10 this place hits every time without fail and most of the time doesn't have a ridiculous line around the corner.

Very basic diner, but has avid fans. The food I had was great but I wish the menu was a bit expanded, there are many breakfast choices I would like to see. Also, very difficult to get a vegan breakfast, I ordered dry toast with jelly and hash browns as sides and got there but they could do more.
So, good place, greasy spoon vibe, food is cheap, hot, fast, and properly made, so it’s a winner.
One thing I would change for sure is to use heated ceramic plates. Breakfast dishes like eggs absolutely need a heated plate. On a plastic room temperature plate eggs get cold fast.
I uploaded a full copy of the menu dated July 2023, this one is properly cropped, readable, and you can see both sides. Hope it helps!

First visit en route to a Spectrum store appointment. I was skeptical on arrival because it shares a bldg (separate from) a gas station, but it's a good spot. It was after 9:00 am, so it wasn't busy at all. The portion sizes weren't ridiculously large like some other places, which is good since I didn't leave feeling the need for a nap. The order was quick to arrive, and a coffee refill without asking. Philly cheesesteak omelet for anyone wondering, but the menu was decent.

A hidden gem! I'm glad we discovered this great little diner that serves breakfast all day. We were greeted and given beverages immediately while we perused the menus. I got the fat and fluffy french toast with scrambled eggs, and my husband got the pancakes combo that came with three different types of breakfast meats! The food was absolutely delicious, but the service made it extra special. The entire bill came to less than $20. They should probably raise their prices! The atmosphere is that of your typical Diner, but I noticed the place was extra clean! Something I appreciated more than ever during a pandemic! PS- I included a before and after picture of our meals; we ate every bite!

It was me and my husband first time coming to Sunny’s Dinner the had breakfast and lunch.. the food was great the server she was great I forgot her name.. this place reminds me a place back home in Miami Florida.. I wish I can come back to Sonny’s but I’m stay to far from the place. I had the pork chop sandwich, and my husband had steak, egg, Texas toast.😋😋😋

It is not on the menu, but you have to try a country ham, tomato and mayo on white toast sandwich. It is sooooo good. You will never want another BLT after eating one these sandwiches from here.

Great prices. Great food. Great service. No complaints.

My favorite old-fashioned breakfast restaurant in the Triangle area for sure! This is a place to visit if you want to experience high-quality and fresh flavors. There are plenty of diverse and delicious menu items available. Can't wait to go back!

Been coming here for years. The food is great, the staff is friendly, and the prices are very reasonable. I moved to the other side of town but still stop by whenever I happen to be in the area.

Great breakfast. Quick service with a smile. We had breakfast sandwich, lots of French toast and breakfast combos. Bacon was perfect. Sunny cooks up a fast and good breakfast!

Did not like. Needed a diner while staying in town.
Ordered regular 2 egg breakfast. Did not have much taste, did not settle well after eating and we normally love diner food but this one was not good.
Way too expensive for a diner 2 egg breakfast-
Our waitress was really nice and the gentlemen that checked us out was very nice also.
Hope the food improves to match expense.

After seeing positive feedback we decided to try Sunny's. A huge mistake. We had to wait better than 30 minutes for our breakfast. At checkout we realized the issue is that the cook and presumed Sonny had his helper doing everything. She was the only one who could print orders, ring up customers and help the cook in preparing food. The waitstaff seemed reliable and friendly but underused. We won't be back. And don't be in a hurry if you feel like trying this place out.

Love this place!!. Great food, great service, very quick and everything is priced very well. Owner could not be nicer.

We were looking for a breakfast diner one morning and I found Sunny's and I am sure happy we did! The service is great as well as the food! Everything is reasonably price and very clean. We would of missed it, because its behind bojangles and attached to a gas station. Enjoyed every bite and will go again!

Sunny's Diner had a very friendly staff. The food was very good. I recommend the pigs in the blanket. The atmosphere was great. Don't be fooled by the location. Try it out for some good ole fashioned grub.

Service was ok, asked for honey mustard, and was brought yellow mustard and ketchup. I asked for root beer, and when brought a refill, it was coke. The fries were cold when I got them, so they put the fries back in the dryer, and brought me the same fries, just refried again.
The reuben was with American cheese, not swiss. I Will never eat at this restaurant again.

Fresh ingredients, great service, small town atmosphere. Adjoined to a gas station, Sunny's Diner is a hidden gem serving American fare at great prices. I have never had a substandard meal here. The staff are genuinely friendly, often taking a moment to chat with you. The ingredients are top shelf. They don't skimp on freshness! Come and eat here. You won't regret it!

Unremarkable. Anne and I went there for breakfast yesterday based solely upon the positive reviews I read on UrbanSpoon. Anne ordered two eggs over well, bacon, and home fries with wheat bread. I ordered their Breakfast Club, which is essentially a BLT club with turkey, eggs, and cheese added, and home fries. We both had coffee. The coffee was good. The home fries were frozen, shredded potatoes grilled to a crispy, flat clump and needing salt. Anne's eggs were, well, eggs. Her bacon was similarly uneventful. The cheese on my club was reminiscent of Velveeta -- from the jar, not the brick. I also got three pickle slices on the plate -- they were tasty. The club was tasty, too -- it might have better with real cheese and more pickle chips in the sandwich itself. I smothered my home fries with Texas Pete and Anne embellished hers with salt -- neither really helped its lackluster appearance. The place had no more than 9 or 10 patrons, yet the waitress had to be called to refill our coffee cups every time. Bottom Line: it's off our list.

Great little diner. Wide variety of old fasioned " diner" foods. Breakfast super!

Decent diner style fare, great prices and specials. 3 min walk from CarMax if you are killing time waiting for your car. The only "Asian flair" here is the cook and some of the wait staff, not the menu.
Joel B
A diner with asian flare?. This place simply sucks. If you want a cheeseburger while you wait for the gas station attendent to pump your gas and don't care about tasty food, this place is right on! If you ask for a cheese burger, you will certainly get a cheeseburger but with more than you asked for as they will overload it with seasoning. It was gross. If you are hungover, avoid as it will only set you back a few steps from recovery.

Better than Huddle House. Much improved from the Huddle House that used to be there. I resisted trying it out because of the poor experiences we had at HH, and figuring it might be the same quality with a different name on the sign.

Menu's a little smaller, but both food and service are vastly improved. Decent cheap eats.

Sunny's just opened up next to the Bojangles on Glenwood. They're nestled in with a gas station, an unlikely place for a diner, but as you walk in it feels homey. They've disguised the strip mall location with tile walls, vinyl seating an
