Place was not crazy busy and great atmosphere. Food was very delicious and with great presentation. See pics for the food we had. Will be back !!

Their sushi is always fresh and great! Service is outstanding and they have a cool and friendly staff. Hands down the best sushi in town!

Been coming here to Tasu at Brier Creek for years and love the staff. From management and waitstaff to our favorite Mandy (go see her at the bar area, she has her own sushi roll named after her even).
Like a lot of other restaurants though I feel the last couple of years have bruised the place a little. It’s definitely time the owners put a little money into it and remodel or at least clean it up. As well I’ve noticed other reviewers mention the food and / or food quality. While I usually get sushi I have noticed others in my party not being particularly satisfied with their meals. Testing a bite myself I fully understand their disappointment.
I hope they can get back to the standards they once held because it’s a wonderful place to grab food and drink and of course meet new people at the bar. Remember the “Mandy Roll” when you go, you’ll be glad you did.

Have come here a couple of times for their sushi which is excellent. This time I got the Bento Box which was the perfect amount of everything! You got an app, salad, sushi, and entree. I will definitly be going back for the Bento Box!
Restraunt is clean and service is great.

I’ve been coming to Tasu for years. I have to say the sushi is some of the best (and Bogo!!) you just have to purchase a drink. Chicken and pork gyoza is so delicious. I always get two rolls and either the house fried rice or the curry fried rice. You can’t go wrong with either. It’s a huge portion for two people, and always plenty left over for the next day. It’s hard ho find bogo sushi in the Raleigh area that’s good and this Tasu definitely delivers with the quality and presentation of sushi and all of there other dishes! Always would like to add our server was attentive and welcoming!

Place is amazing! Our server was killer! Pay whatever he wants and more. Yes, he was that good. I dark wish i knew his name. Dark hair gentlemen working the lunch rush between noon and 2 pm.
Regina Beard
Loved everything we ordered. The food is plentiful and delicious.
Fiddia Wuelman
Their food is amazing! I dined in with My family and ordered house fried rice, eel fashion and thaiphoon rolls. Max, our server was very attentive and friendly. Tasu had become our Friday night out spot. Great food and ambiance with affordable price!

Went for a dinner date with my fiancee. All I can say is WOW. Their sushi is amazing. We had the Manhatten roll and Shanghai roll, and it was AMAZING. Best sushi we've had so far. A little pricey, but you get a free roll if you buy one roll, so it balances out. Mixed drinks are delicious. We had the jade Buddha and some peach sake, and both are phenomenal (and they gave us enough to get a bit tipsy!). The atmosphere is overall peaceful, and the place is quite large. Food took a bit to come out, but it was worth waiting every second for. Our dessert was some sort of cake-banana concoction that was absolutely amazing. I couldn't get enough! I would give Tasu 6 stars if I could! GET OVER THERE AND FREAKING EAT! NO REGRETS!

Very good! I love the BOGO sushi and have never had a bad roll. Now that I’m pregnant, I’m happy that they have a wide variety of cooked sushi rolls! Not many sushi places have very many options for cooked rolls. I also love that they have very good non-sushi menu items so my husband, who doesn’t love sushi as much as I do, can still get tasty food. This is one of my favorite restaurants and I will definitely be back! Highly recommend this location over the one at Waverly Place. The staff is so much nicer here.

Tasu is not just another Asian restaurant in the area, it's a fun, vibrant, cool and delicious place. They have a great variety of entrees. Food portions are extremely generous and reasonably priced. Their Pho and Wonton soups are phenomenal! Their sushi is fresh as well as their poke bowls. Can't wait to come back! Keep the great job guys!

The service was delightful they are so sweet here. Highly satisfied my tummy 😋 the rainbow roll I got was thick and so good! The sauce was also bussin. Happy dance approved 💃🏾🫶🏾

It's always tough to find that right place to get sushi. Price, quality and atmosphere. Tasu is the place for that. The sushi is top of the quality chain, the buy one roll get one free makes it the perfect price. The atmosphere.... you choose what you like; sit down like a restaurant, sit at the sushi bar or eat outside, whatever your fancy. If you are like I was, searching for that great sushi place, then look no further. The Hurricane sushi roll is fan-f-tactic!

I went to Tasu today for the first time and the food and service were phenomenal. I got the drunken noodles with shrimp and it was amazing; it had so many fresh vegetables and cooked without all the extra grease. My boyfriend had the pan seared lamb that was equally delicious. I will definitely be coming back to try more food from the menu!!

Soooo.... was here earlier. The waitress was ok. That's a plus. But the FOOD.... 😒 👎🏽👎🏽 1st there was a lady cleaning tables with a sour rag. 🤢 It smelled an we all smelled it at surrounding tables.
My Order- The chicken tempura tasted like reheated chicken. The shrimp tempura was so small it was as if it was for a child. We waited a hour for our food to come, but others around us were served. I've visited this place before and never had any issues. But this run was HORRIBLE.
Management- (or lack there of) Took a while to come check on my complaint. But rather watched from the register as my party and I talked. 😒 Once SHE arrived she offered NO Remedy to the poorly prepared dish. Most GOOD managers would have offered to replace the dish or make something else. When I got home and my stomach is hurting. Probably from the bad chicken. SMH.. I was then brought a bill and expected to pay for food that I didn't eat.. 😡😤

This was not my first time here so of course the Food was great but the customer service from the waiter with the accent was horrible. Asked us what we wanted to drink and walked away ...brought the drinks and walked off again.... sheesh we wanted an appitizer but he didnt care to ask. This was all after we sat their for 5-10 mins smh luckily the manager came and gave him some encouragement to take our order

Amazing food as usual. Sat at bar in back. Crispy rice with tuna is must have. Bang Bang shrimp were great. Hard to pick a favorite roll but sushi was incredible. Come here every couple months and never had bad experience.
Adrienne Bragg
I am currently at the restaurant & the food was delicious. I am visiting with a longtime friend who is visiting from Taiwan so although we have completed our meal, we are still sitting and talking. We have already paid. Our waitress is literally standing on the other side of the glass staring as us extremely rudely. There are other vacant tables within her section so, we are not preventing anyone else from eating. I have literally caught her glaring at least 3 times. I won't be back.
Sonya Greene
I was just there last week May 4, 2018. The food was good, but the service was off. The person who brought the salads (who wasn't our waitress) for two of our guests picked up the bowls to place them on the table with her finger inside the bowl. She had long nails and that creeped me out, as her thumbs were all the way down in the bowl touching the salad. It also took a while to get refills on drinks as well.
Matt
Had to eat here again after our great first experience at Tasu yesterday. However tonight's service was terrible! Our server Jonathan was inattentive to say the least. Ordered the Hibachi chicken which did not have bean sprouts as the menu stated and it took a literally 5 minutes to get soy sauce dishes before we could dig in to our sushi. Had to get up and ask management for drink refills. So I guess hit or miss service. Tan tan noodles are excellent I just wish service could be improved.
Patsy Robertson
We use to love this restaurant but their sanitation rating is now simply too low for us to feel comfortable. A 93 is low for a Sushi bar. We've been checking back with them for over a year and it hasn't improved. I give up on this location.
Laura DeWeese
Sushi was definitely subpar to many sushi restaurants in Raleigh such as sushi Blues. Rolls were bland, poorly rolled and expensive. Would not recommend people coming here. Drive the extra 20 minutes to a place that's worth your money.
Halliesmurph
Sadly, Tasu is going downhill. We've been going to Tasu at least once a month since they opened. We occasionally dine in, and frequently order take-out. While the sushi is good, it's only affordable when you dine in. And the BOGO sounds like a great deal, but if you go in a group, they won't split checks AND if you order , for example, a 14.95 roll, a 15.95 roll, a 6.95 roll and a 8.95 roll, the two you get free are the least expensive. Therefore, it's only a good deal if you order rolls that cost about the same amount. BOGO is available when you dine in only.

We have always had our favorite dishes, which we order frequently. The past 2 years, the portion sizes have gotten significantly smaller. There is a very small amount of meat -- you sometimes have to dig to find the chicken. It typically tastes good, but it's probably half of what it was several years ago.

Overall, Tasu has become a bit of a disapointment and we are taking our business elsewhere more and more often.

MUST EAT HERE!!!!. I love PF Changs and I love good Thai food! This place has both. My husband and I have gone here twice in two weeks and we can't get enough. Don't listen to the other reviewers and try this place for yourself!

Tasu's no longer the place it use to be - Save your money and go somewhere else!. I have been going to Tasu's for several years now, and the last couple of visits just haven't been the same. Service was horrendous, waited 20 minutes for our drink, bathrooms were dirty, and worst of all management can't resolve a customer issue regarding overcharging gratuity. We were a party of 6 and when we got the bill, there was an automatic gratuity added -which the waiter never mentioned was included. I just assumed it was correct and paid the bill. It was only when I got home that I tool a closer look and realized that it was a 22% tip.
Here's the catch........good luck in trying to figure out how they calculate the gratuity. When I called Francisco -the manager- he said, that the gratuity should be 18% and that he would like into it and get right back to me.

Well, a month has passed, several calls later, three conversation with Francisco "Oh yes, I will look into it right away and get back to you"...... and still no response. Needless to say, the service, management have all gone down hill. Save your money and go somewhere else.

WORST RESTAURANT IN RALEIGH!!! Do not eat at this place. The sushi was terrible (rice was very cold, fish had a strange consistency like it had obviously been frozen..very gross tasting). My wife got the hibachi, it had about 3 tiny pieces of meat and the vegetables were raw! On top of it, we had an issue with our bill and the manager, Francisco Bolivar, could not have been any more rude and patronizing to both myself and my wife. They charged us the wrong amount, and he refused to fix the bill. So, in summation, bad food and bad management. Why would anyone eat here??
Sushiblues
If you haven't been here in a few months, try them again!. I had tried Tasu again earlier this year and had previously agreed with some of the negative reviews. The food quality had definitely gone down (both sushi and the thai dishes). However, I recently tried them two times in the past few weeks and am pleased to see a new manager in there. The former manager that I spoke with seemed to not really be on the ball. Service was definitely better and the sushi quality was back up to previous standards. Even their Wake County Health rating posted by the door had gone up from what it was earlier this year.

Try them again! You won't be dissappointed! To the new manager - keep up the good work! Your efforts have definitely improved the place.

Best hot and sour soup ever. 2 for 1 sushi rolls and a great menu. quick lunch time service and friendly staff. 9 beers on tap

Pissed. DO NOT GO HERE. Want to spend over an HOUR paying your bill? Or would you prefer to wait 40 mins for sushi, only to have your order come without two rolls and THEN wait another 40 for your missed roll. Are you kidding me? OH and on top of that, want to go out with friends? Planning on getting sushi? The 2 for 1 deal means that you pay for the MOST expensive sushi you and your friends get. Let me clarify. Friend A get a $12 roll and a $10 dollar roll, Friend B gets a $6 dollar roll and a $7 dollar roll, Friend C gets a $14 dollar roll and a $25 dollar roll. Of this 6 rolls, you pay for the 12, 14, and 25 dollar roll, NOT FOR YOUR OWN CHOICES. So, unless you have friends that order the same thing as you, you front the cash of everyone's choices. Yeah, and good luck trying to figure that out.

WILL NOT BE GOING BACK.
CN
Great Sushi. I wasn't a sushi fan before Tasu. Their eel is amazing!
Jason
This place is getting slow and the quality of food not good anymore. I will not spend any money there anymore
Alexiaanna8
One of my favorites. I have never had a bad experience at Tasu, and I have been many times. If the waiter ever makes a mistake (mistakes do happen) it is always properly corrected. I love the food. The pad tai noodles are my favorite, and you can never go wrong ordering the lettuce rolls. Tasu is one of my favorite places to go out to eat with friends and family.
Laura Hurn
No Longer a Fan. The food here used to be good with decent service, but the last two times I've visited have proven for me to be a big mistake. Both of my last visits resulted in food that wasn't prepared per order and needed to be sent back; and, poor service where my servers were void for the first 10 min after being seated, with not even a drink order being taken.

Even worse is that after visiting the last time, our server informed us that the restaurant's policy is to no longer split checks. There were only 3 people in our party with ideally two checks to pay. What casual eatery doesn't split checks??!

Tasu no longer holds any incentive to welcome me back: the food's poorly prepared, the service isn't welcoming or consistent, and the restaurant doesn't cater to groups. I'll never return or recommend Tasu again.
Torin
Service leaves a bit to be desired. The food however was very good. Factor in the BOGO on all sushi and for the money...you can't go wrong. Try the Bonzai roll!
Josh P
Decent. Tried the yellow curry vegetables for lunch. It was good, but my wife was disappointed with her food. Not sure if it's worth a second try.
Randy
Great Place to eat!!. I absolutely love this place. I recommend it to everyone. I read some of the reviews and they are bs. Trust me, you will not be disappointed!!
DT
DON'T ORDER DUCK!!. My husband and I ordered duck, 2 different dishes. They were extremely disappointing. Both dishes had LOADS of fat on the pieces of duck so our plates were stacked with inedible pieces. Some sauce might have helped the tasteless rice. All together not worth the visit. The appetizer, soup and dessert were good. Everyone else seemed to be happy with their choices and the place was packed.

Average Food, Lousy Service.
Our waiter last night, Oscar, was terrible. He did not know the food, couldn't answer our questions, never cme back to refill our drinks, never offered my guest another beer, and at the end of the meal, when my guest asked that the salad he ordered, but never received, be removed from the bill, Oscar looked at him with a dumb look and said," they never brought your salad, you should of said something". Sorry Oscar, i didn't realized I was waitering my own table tonight.
Also, the B1G1 sushi is a rip off. We were dinning with another couple, three people in our party had sushi, I had a dinner from the kitchen. We were informed that if anyone orders sushi they can not do seperate checks for the table, it all has to be one one check. They do this so they can put all the sushi on one bill and discount the cheapest shushi's in the bunch. What should have been a $60 bill was over $100
Guess what Tasu, for $100 there are much better places to eat. We will not be back, and I will maike sure none of my friends come back either.

Very disappointed. My husband and I love this place. It is always wonderful food and we love the bogo. Naturally for his college graduation that is where we wanted to eat dinner with our guests visiting. I read the reviews and saw many negative comments about the customer service. The manager said they wouldn't take our party of 17 at 6pm on a Friday because they cannot close a room off. If we wanted to have our party there it would cost $2,000. I said I didn't need a closed room and what if we came at 5:30. Still nothing. The manager was very negative and not willing to work with me. I am extremely disappointed with Tasu and sad to say we will not be returning there anymore.
Anne Vander Gheynst Powell
If you like hair, eat here. Terrible meal. There was a hair in my salad, and the mushu chicken was the lousiest I've ever eaten. The pancakes were nuked, so it the were dry and chewy and the cabbage was inedible. I won't eat here again.

Great Food - Bar Service Awful and Mean. My wife, work colleagues and my clients often come here for early evening dinner or weekend dinner because it is fun, easy going, casual dining but good Asian cuisine. However, tonight, September 15th was an exception. Our waitress for the food Karen was amazing, terrific, she was kind and fun - she actually rescued our night.

The reason, the bar man. Did not get his name but I would have fired him - a dark curly haired chap in his late 30's or early 40's. I was drinking a nice scotch, and after having sampled it, and enjoying my Saturday night after a hard week, I wanted another before dinner. So I put my glass down, and waited, and waited, and waited. So, I tried to get his attention - nothing. Looked at him and waved my hand (not too obviously), still, nothing. This dude I knew was going to be an issue. So he came my way, and I placed my glass down on the hard surface - clunk ! I wanted to be served. Still nothing. Not sure what i did, but my wife and I were angered by this.

Take home message, go to Tazoo, the food and ambience is great. The bar? give it a miss. The Barman thinks he's in New York, and even if you leave a decent tip (I did), forget being served as you would like, even in a quietish bar. Avoid Tazoo if you;re there for bar food and a few drinks. Could be a long night. This idiot should be fired.
Brian Mahoney
Reservations limited. Not impressed that you cannot make a reservation for a party less than 6. For a customer making the effort to schedule ahead of time to purchase goods/services from a company, this sends the message that 'we don't want you unless you bring in more revenue'. Additionally, higher paying customers are more likely to schedule a reservation because they more likely value their time and don't want to wait. Hope Tasu adjusts this policy with customer feedback.
Kiernan B
Wow. I loved this place. The sushit is always buy one get one free and its sooooo good. And the hibachi chicken. Damn. So good. Go here now!
Heidi Brady
Bad Service. We had Sushi and Soup and Dumplings for our lunch, the Dumplings came the same time with the Soup
I hate that because by the time we done with the Soup the Dumplings are cold, the Service is very poor,
back to Warajis on Duraleigh Rd, this is by far the best Sushi money can buy.
MikE Payams
Bad service, server was too slow and did not ask how was everything , we had to wait almost 40 minutes for our food and no forks to eat, we had to ask TWICE for it! Will never come back.
Connie
Have read several reviews unhappy with service, I think it really depends on server and expectation. Will they win service awards? No, but they also won't ruin your night. I was in on Tuesday and we had a wonderful meal. The sushi rolls are delicious, and the portions are generous. We have tried the tom yum soup and the miso, both delicious. My boyfriend's favorite is the beef and garlic entree. I took tan tan noodles to go and enjoyed them twice for lunch this week. Anticipate a wait on weekends, and be patient with your server, then enjoy!

One of my faorites!!. We go hear almost weekly. Sushi is always fresh and highly recommend!!

Horrible Service, Rude Manager. My husband I have been loyal Tasu customers for years. We have always been happy with the food, however the rude reception I got from the manager as I asked to be seated today will mean that we will never go back. The man was not only rude to me, but he was openly aggressive to the 2 hostesses, who literally cowered with fear when he snapped at them. I left , disgusted.
When I called back later to give feedback as to why i had left, I unfortunately got the same guy, who hung up on me midsentence as I politely asked to speak to the owner . I called back in case it was a bad line and he did the same thing again. What a jerk and what a shame as the food was great !
Alex Gilmore
This i my favorite restaurant. I eat her once or twice a week. The sushi is wonderful and awsomely priced. I've seen people complain about splitting the bill. My solution to that was one person pays for the bill and the other person gives them cash for their half. Not always fair, but fair enough.
Jim
BAD. My previous review from when they had been open about a year was favorable - "decent" sushi for the price, entrees were tasty, attentive service. I hadn't been for awhile and recently went back, despite hearing it was going downhill. The 90.5 sanitation grade almost made us walk back out but we thought it looked full so we'd give it a shot. In a nutshell:

Communal bowl of salad dressing for the table to share - we had to be careful to each not take more that the others - weird,
Hot and Sour soup that smelled as bad as it tasted,
Miso Soup that needed soy sauce added to make it palatable,
Pad Thai that was the furthest thing from Pad Thai I've ever had. It was actually on the edge of gross,
Sushi rolls that fell apart when you pick them up. Every. Single. One.
Server who couldn't answer basic questions about the dishes. I think we had a bus person waiting our table?
Food runners who knocked over a drink and didn't take away used plates.

When we were leaving, our headlights shone on the building and you could see damage from the fire that was never repaired, just covered up. I think they just don't care anymore.

Won't be back and I cannot recommend this place to anyone.
John
Fast service, friendly service and great roll selection. Wide variety of sake as well.
Cesspooh
Great Sushi, HORRIBLE customer service.. The sushi and sushi chefs are great. The waitresses are horrible, takes forever for them to take your order, they try to bully you into buying the most expensive rolls, and then takes forever to get your check and pay. Also, there should be a way to tip the sushi chef and not the waitress when paying with your credit card.
Justin
WORST Customer Service. In the past I had visited Tasu once every 2-3 weeks, because the sushi is pretty solid. Tonight, my wife visited and had the worst experience EVER. Her and friend visited, both ordered two separate sushi rolls. My wife order two sushi rolls that were $13+, knowing that the lowest priced sushi roll on HER BILL would be free. They specifically requested AT THE BEGINNING that their tickets be split. The server brought one check and they requested it be split. After having to put up a fight just for that, he finally agreed to split the checks. He was then very rude and would not allow my wife to have HER TWO sushi rolls on her check, rather they required them to pay for the two highest priced rolls (although they were not both hers) and two separate checks. Obviously I was very upset when she told me this so I called the restaurant and first spoke with a 'manager' whom I couldn't even understand. When she realized I was serious she sent me to a guy named Richard. I called Richard and he was the 'Director of Operations'. Richard proceeded to say that they post a notice in 'green letters' at the BOTTOM of the menu and that it is written that the buy 1/get 1 is PER TABLE. He was not helpful at all, and had a very cocky attitude. I then asked for the owners name, who is Tham Nguyen, and his contact information. Richard refused to give me that information and said "that's just how things are". After speaking with Richard I immediately called American Express (who I fully recommend) and they voided the payment and are looking into the merchant.

BOTTOM LINE - This is a dishonest merchant who continually shows terrible customer service. I will never go back to one of 'Tham Nguyen's' restaurants, he obviously has a very misleading business plan. He also owns Shiki Sushi in Durham.

Meal Deal. I just came from my first dining experience at Tasu, and I was pleased. Who doesn't like a buy one sushi roll, get one free deal? My friend was brought one roll different than what she ordered, but was not charged for the extra roll. Awesome. She ended up having three rolls for the price of one, and the waiter took responsibility for the mix-up. I appreciated that service. Our rolls were yummy, but note to self: stick with water. The soda was $2.50. Yowza!
Corbinia
Repeat Customer. I have eaten here many times and never had an issue with service. I have also eaten with friends. If you want to split the bill, you need to COMMUNICATE that with your waiter before ordering and not assume you can wait until you get the bill, and what will probably happen is they will have you order in different columns on the sushi menu. Very simple. Either that or split the bill evenly and share your different rolls. But the sushi is excellent and I think it is the best in Raleigh.
Stephanie
Great Food /staff. This Is a great place to go. The sushi is good and fresh I did not have all the issues and my waiter was very nice.
DiscoSis1
Best Sushi In Raleigh. The service does blow. I'll give them that. But I've found that if you just "man handle" the server, as in boss them around and spell it out for them, it's not so bad.
That being said, this is HANDS DOWN the BEST sushi in Raleigh. It is the sister restaurant to Shiki in Durham. I moved her from Chicago and prefer that all my rolls not be cover in 1) spicy mayo 2) eel sauce 3) both like so many other sushi joints do around here. Maybe it's a southern thing. I don't know. Sushi is about simplicity, subtlety, not covering everything in sauces, deep frying every roll, etc. My favorite roll is the Special Negero Roll (NO SEAR) any roll that comes with a sear tastes like propane from the torch they use to sear it. I don't know why they do it, I just write No Sear on the ticket and it comes out just fine.

So yes, the service blows b/c it's a bunch of teenagers who don't care. And the manager is a dick. I've had to argue with him a couple of times. But I keep going back b/c it literally is the ONLY place to get passable sushi in Raleigh.
Me
Not Consumer Ignorance.... Of course, you expect to pay for the higher cost sushi roll when it's buy one get one free. However, if you buy 2 expensive rolls of equal value and your friend buys 2 cheap rolls, you would expect that you would each pay for the higher roll you had respectively. Especially considering the sign says of equal of lesser value, it doesn't seem right to charge you both for the expensive rolls. It's just a bad policy, which is a shame because it overshadows the fact that the sushi is good.
Darrell C
Sushi is about the best around. People with problems with how they do the bogo apparently can't read. If you've read the other reviews you now know how it works and don't have a good reason not to enjoy this establishment. Or you could eat somewhere the sushi doesn't taste good and you and your 7 friends can figure out the bill!
Squish
When a resteraunt offers something for free there should be stipulations. The fact that people think these servers are "dumb" because they won't itemize a check for your uptight asses is appalling. God forbid you go to dinner with a group of people who are supposedly your friends and when payment time comes all of the sudden you can't figure out a percentage for all of you to split. (doesn't sound like very good friends to me) I have been many times and the servers are always clear about the 2 for 1 policy. Too bad this restaurant gets so many bad reviews by grumpy groups of people who were never taught by their mommies to share.
Kat C
BAD BAD BAD Service. My friends and I went to this place for dinner. The service was horrible. Bad service totally over shadows the food.
I agree with some of the previous reviews that they over charge. Same thing happened to us. We were a group of 7-8 ppl. When the final bill arrived, I have no clues, what all they charged us for. When we tried to ask for an explanation for what we were charged (food we never ordered!) the waiter was rude to us and we were not told what we were charged for! When we talked to the manger, he too didn't bother and for a service industry this is very RUDE.
Foodlover
Bad bad bad ... Extremely rude staff and manager too. Totally overcharged us. Were not ready to recalculate. The waiters are so dumb that they can't split the total bill into 6! Come on .. And u call yourself to be a part of service industry??? I agree with other reviews that they overcharge and it takes literally hours to sort the bill and after all this they just don't accept their fault. BAD Service. Rude staff . Never going back. I would prefer not eating over going to such a restaurant.
PastServerJustLovestoeat
Seriously? This place rocks. So GOOD!. I love this place. I hit it for lunch when I'm at work, and my husband and I love it for dinner several times a month. My 4 yr old loves it too. BOGO issues? Seriously, it's always the cheapest, even if you split the bill. Too bad. It's not sneaky, it's the way it is EVERYWHERE. They are very clear about not splitting checks. Can ya'll not ADD?!?! Been here lots for girls' nights. Just split the check evenly between everyone. Don't you get something more/less expensive than others sometimes???
Anyway, food awesome, service great, can't wait to go back.
Brittany Daniels
Good Restaurant Plagued by Consumer Ignorance. This restaurant has awesome food. Bottom line.

I am SHOCKED at the pure ignorance of all of the bad review on here. Obviously none of you have never worked in the restaurant business, or been many public places, for that matter. OF COURSE the free item is the cheapest one. Have you never gone shopping at a drug store or grocery store??? If you purchase mascara for 12.99 and there is a bogo deal with lipstick for 6.99, why on earth would they give you the mascara for free?????? ITS COMMON KNOWLEDGE PEOPLE.

And the no splitting of checks makes perfect sense too. You are getting things for FREE, the restaurant is already giving you food for FREE- of course they don't want YOU to call the shots and decide how to finagle your way into getting away with the cheapest bill possible.

If you were straying from this restaurant because of the morons that don't use common sense, think again and give it a try.
Miss Lucy
Very good food and service! I highly recommend this restaurant. We had four different types of rolls and all were amazing. The Hot and Sour soup is wonderful!
JS
Favorite sushi restaurant ever!. It's sad to see all the negative reviews on here, especially about the service. I've been going to Tasu at least once or twice per month for more than a year. I've always had great service. No, the buy-one-roll-get-one-free deal does NOT apply to take-out orders, but I feel as though they are always clear about that.

My order is always perfect when I get it. Every server I have has been really nice, professional, and more than competent. The tables are always very clean and the restaurant itself is very pretty.

Disclaimer: I don't work at, for, or in any relation to, Tasu. I just appreciate a great restaurant.

HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT!. Went to Tasu for a girls night out last night ... the food was GREAT ... however the management is probably the most horrible thing I've ever experienced ... INCLUDING any fast food establishment i've ever been to! the BOGO situation is a joke and will screw you if you aren't paying attention. There were 6 of us and collectively a $200 bill ... which in my opinion is a table and a bill that deserves good customer service! We weren't paying the bill collectively though we were paying in 6 separate checks ... only paying for what we individually ordered. Then we learned that they wouldn't give us separate checks ... (STUPID but i have seen it before) ... however at a closer look at the bill we realized WHY they didn't want to give us separate checks ... collectively we had ordered 10 sushi rolls and they had taken off the 5 cheapest ones ... regardless of who ordered what ... and they refused to give us separate checks because if they had it would have been a cheaper bill collectively. I spoke with the manager and i might as well been talking to a brick wall b/c he looked at us as if we were ignorant and didn't know what we were saying ... we were calling them out on their that appreciate their scheme and he just stared at us like he wasn't even listening. After 20 min of arguing we pulled out a piece of paper and wrote down what each of us ordered on individual pieces of paper and even wrote down which sushi roll should have been free (the CHEAPEST of the two that each individual ordered) ... It was like working with 2 year olds that didn't know how to run a tab or add things together ... then once that ran the cards there were STILL two cards that weren't charged correctly. One tab ended up being $4.95 ... I seriously have never delt with a more ignorant group of management in my life! I mean we WROTE DOWN what we ordered and what the prices were and one STILL came out as $4.95 ... i can't even explain how frustrating and unnecessary all that was ... especially at an establishment that you are paying collectively a $200 bill!

My girlfriends and i plan on contacting the management directly and will not be attending this place ever again ... I'm not a fan and will not support a place that doesn't take care of the customers and tries to screw them over on the sly as if we were stupid and wouldn't notice!

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME! There are other sushi places in the area patrons!

Sad, too sad. The lunch with my friends was spoiled by inability of restaurant to provide separate checks for sushi. Their greedy rules forced us to have one single bill per whole table and caused lots of problems when final bill was delivered. Some of us ordered expensive sushi, others - cheap ones. The offer "buy 2, get one free" is great only if you come here with a family. But in case of lunch, when you need separate bills, you won't get expected service. In our case they charged all expensive entries in the order (to remind: we was forced to have one bill per whole table) and counted cheapest ones as a "free" option. As a result people who ordered cheap option to save the money got "free" meal and others get no their "free" option. So we've spent lots of time trying to figure out, how to pay that bill.
We will never come here again.

Jack of all trades, master of none.. I ordered from the Thai menu. It was not bad, but it was not great either. I won't be going back.

-----19 Jul, 2010-----

Went there for dinner. We had Hibaci Chicken, Pad Thai and Panang Curry. All tasted good, but I would say they are not quite as good as Sushi Thai. But good nonetheless. Restaurant itself is modern and cool. Staff were friendly and efficient. Overall a positive experience.

Good food...VERY bad management. We went here for a birthday party. 5 couples attended, but but restaurant policy cannot split checks, so we asked if we can just pay for what we ordered. Problem is the sushi is buy one get one free, which is good; however, higher priced items are charged, while lower priced items are free. This is a problem when multiple separate parties order different kinds of items. Our bill was a NIGHTMARE to separate and management did not understand that we only wanted to be charged for what we ordered. I was charged for the entire bill..."accidentally" and a void added, but my bank account is hit for the whole amount...plus my regular bill. I was told a refund will take 3-5 business days. Bastards are sneaky here, be careful and watch your bill.

When it's good, it's real good. When it's bad... ehh.. There is no such thing as a consistant experience here. Some days, you get amazing sushi with amazing service. Others, you get a server who has no idea how to open a bottle of wine or sushi not wrapped tight enough with mounds of extra rice falling everywhere.

Worth the chance to hit it right. . .

Sat Night - Fast Service & High Quality. We just returned from dinner at Tasu...The place was packed as it should be on a Sat. night. We expected it to be slow service on the sushi...To our pleasant surprise, the apps came out quickly and our 4 rolls came out shortly after that...Our waiter was soft spoken, polite, and always seemed to show up right as you needed him...

In all..Great performance Tasu..We'll definitely be back to enjoy the half off again very soon....

Don't Waste ALL your money. I've never written a review before in my life but thought I had to in this case. I went to Tasu for lunch and had some okay sushi that was advertised as half price. However, when they brought the bill it was not at all half price! $18 for lunch.... and I drank water. They get you in the door with the half price sign and then jam you when your bill comes. The service was bad also!

All around good quality and price.. After reading some of the other reviews, I had to comment, as this is one of our favorite restaurants. I also want to say that, neither myself nor my husband work at TASU. We eat here at least twice a week, and have sat in the restaurant several times, but usually eat at the bar. Tammy, the bartender is a favorite of ours, and the service is always fast. I have read the other comments and heard other customers questioning the buy one get one free sushi deal. IT IS WHAT IT SAYS...BUY ONE GET ONE. The item of lesser value is FREE. I don't understand why people have such a hard time getting that. Its funny how people complain about free!! An, we don't know of another restaurant or business that honors specials for to go orders. Thats common sense. Hvaing moved here from California, we know sushi, and we haven't had any better anywhere else.
We have also enjoyed the hibachi dishes, and thought the serving size was more than appropriate.
The restautrant seems to be doing very well, and is busy every time we have been by, especially Friday nights.
I hope they continue with success, and those wrting bad reviews becuase they work in other sushi restaurants , should give honest reviews.

Denied. Last night my wife and I were driving by Tasu and saw the sign outside advertising buy one sushi roll, get one free so we thought we would give Tasu a try and pick up a couple of rolls to take home with us.

We live in the Brier Creek area and were really happy that there was a sushi place so close to us. If the sushi was good, we would probably stop in at least every other week.

We went into the bar area and saw another sign on the way in that said they were offering half price appetizers Sunday through Thursday before 6 pm.

Again, this sounded like a great deal so we also put in our order for a couple of appetizers to go.

While we were waiting for our order, we discussed the possibility of reserving Tasu for my wife's birthday next month. We had been looking for a place that could accomodate 40 to 50 people for this event and Tasu seemed like it would be perfect.

While we waited, we heard a group of 3 arguing with the bartender because they had come in for the buy one, get one sushi, but they had split the bill.

Because they had split the bill, the management was charging them full price for all of their sushi rolls and not honoring the buy one, get one deal.

After waiting for about 10 minutes, the bartender we had placed our order with comes to tell us that she cannot honor any of the deals advertised because we had placed our order to go.

We were a bit shocked at first because this made absolutely no sense at all. It was a take out order meaning that no one would have to wait on us or clean up after us and they would still be making money from our purchase.

We protested a bit and were met with "I'm sorry but it's just our policy" after which we left sushiless and angry.

After wasting our time because of a very poorly thought out policy,

I truly suggest you think twice before spending your money with Tasu.

They may advertise a deal or you may have a coupon but they're going to do what they can to make sure you pay full price for their food.

Not Good. I recently ate at Tasu and was having high expectations as the decor is actaully very nice and from the outside looked great. The one thing I have to say is the service is horrible and in fact probably the worst service I have had out dining in a long time. Four of us had dinner and had a mix if items on the menu including sushi. I saw another review on this site and was amazed that they gave them a thumbs up on the sushi. It was acutally the second time I have ate at this place as I wanted to try it again only to find that the sushi was not only old, but was not fish that should be used when making sushi. I am part japanese and to be honest this for the 2nd time eating at this place had the worst sushi I have ever had in my enitre lifetime.

My guess is that the reviews that were written as is the case with many reviews both the staff and the owners write them trying to make the restaurant look better. If you want good sushi in Raleigh go to Konki as they have incredibly good and fresh sushi. If you want old fish and sushi that is by far the worst I have ever had go to Tasu. The biggest problem us with people that think they know sushi when in fact they have no idea what good sushi is in general.

Go Elsewhere -- Tasu = Awful Service. Do NOT try TASU in Raleigh. I've been twice...first time was a real pleasure and we loved the place. The second time, I took my entire family visiting out of town and spent over $300 only to be squashed into a table that could not fit my party, have the manager disrespect us to our face, and have him physically handle my son...which obviously did not go over well. Even the second time, I did enjoy the quality of the food but our server and the overall customer service...or lack there of, was absurd for a party of that size spending that kind of money. And the part that puts this over the top is that I politely addressed the issues w/ the manager who was clearly way over his head and chose to be disrespectful instead of admitting their shortcomings and fixing it. Again, food was good, but we as paying customers deserve more respect than what this place provides. I highly recommend avoiding this place at all costs...even if it means buying your sushi from Harris Teeter!!!

The place messed up but made it right. Ok, this place, the first time around messed up my order but made right by refunding my original/incorrect charge and then only charging me 1/2 price for my corrected order. Not many places do this. I feel they mean serious business as they made me happy with the correction. The 2nd time I went, I ordered a few things off the sushi menu and was blown away. This is truly the best sushi in Raleigh Proper any connoisseur could ask for. It was crazy good!

Best sushi in the Triangle!. I LOVE Shiki Sushi in Durham, so I was excited to find out they opened a sister restaurant closer to Raleigh. It's almost exactly the same in terms of food selection, but if you're doing something as well as they are, why change it! One negative is that they usually do not split checks because of their buy-one-get-one-free sushi deal. Still, they have the best selection of (gigantic) sushi rolls in the Triangle.

This is the place that my girlfriend and I go to if we want a relaxing evening or feel like celebrating for no great reason.

Tasu is an Asian bistro in Brier Creek, but it's on the other side of Lumley Road near the Earth Fare store. Since parking gets a bit hard to find around dinner time, I ended up parking a lot closer to Earth Fare than to Tasu. The restaurant was extremely
