Review Mulino Italian Kitchen & Bar - Raleigh

Had an amazing first experience, was able to sit outside right next to the pool which was just an incredible atmosphere. Our waitress was very pleasant and the cocktails were amazing. We started with the bread and fried calamari, both were great but that bread was definitely the star of our appetizer round. For our entrees, I ordered the gnocchi which was beyond delicious, definitely the best gnocchi I’ve ever had. My family member ordered the salmon special for the day, the salmon was cooked perfectly, it was juicy and tender. The salmon was served over a bed of pesto pasta which was also very tasty. Didn’t get a chance to order dessert since we filled up on bread, but I am definitely eager to return to try more menu items!

Fresh pasta, yes please! Delicious marinara sauce with guanciale, pasta cooked to perfection. Burrata and salad was so creamy, bread was crunchy and warm. Gnocchi is my favorite dish there, I could bathe in the cream sauce. Pizzas are great, and so are the scallops with risotto. I’ve been here 4 times and never tried anything I wouldn’t order again. I love sitting outside by the water, beautiful ambiance. I always spend a lot of money because I want to try everything, but I leave satisfied and happy.

This place is VIBE! We were a group of 8 people. Even though we didn’t have reservation, they got a table without waiting for long. Their cocktails are delicious! They have a limited menu, most of the items has pork. Overall it was a good dine-in experience. Would come back with a smaller group to try the indoor seating. Cocktail: Casta Diva Entree 1: Half Roasted Chicken with basil pesto, topped with Rosemary and Dill Entree 2: Pesce Del Giorno (Salmon)

Love the setup outdoors! We sat outside therefore I cannot speak for the inside, but it was a beautiful night out & this is such a romantic, chill & tranquil vibe. The appetizers were very good, however the calamari was a very small portion & the burrata would present better on a plate instead of a bowl. The entrées & desserts were delicious! We got 2 of their specials: Salmon & Ribeye and a pizza. We will definitely be back!

Gorgeous spot. Love the water spot in the courtyard. The outdoor ambiance is absolutely stunning. A little difficult to get to using Google Maps and parking is tight. Fresh pasta, drinks and food were delish. I was not a fan of the cannoli, nor the fact that you have to pay for the bread. I had the pasta bolognese and it was very good. The shrimp and calamari could have been more flavorful. I'd definitely go back, I bet it's stunning in the outdoor section at night!

Went with a group of 8 and got a table without reservation. The service was really good and the server had utmost cordial demeanor with the patience to repeat the night's specials twice. The drinks were really nice and liked by everyone in my group. I personally ordered Ford vs Ferrari and, serendipitously, it was made strong to my liking. The only discomfort we had to go through was the gnats and bug bites here and there because we were seated outside at a corner table.

Beautiful atmosphere with superb service. Salmon special was top notch. Only drawback was gnocchi was lukewarm. Cool enough to knock a star off which was a shame because this place is nice and I’d come back. Fried rice app was delicious. Rich with melted cheese.

So I came here alone for a bday dinner, to treat myself since I didn’t have that greatest of a bday on Monday. I ordered: Casta Diva Seared Scallop Fonduta Bread Basket Ford vs Ferrari Vanilla crème brûlée & everything was delicious. I’d give this first time experience a (5) if I felt like my service was a little better. I legit felt like my waiter forgot about me. He was nice but .. I’m here alone.. birthday.. I just felt like just that alone. Perhaps engaging more? Other than that I’m definitely coming back. I’m also aware he was probably super busy, inside and outside. He was super kind to me. Just wanted more engagement. Not lengthy convo. (I received a candle with my desert) so 5 STARS!!! I highly recommend this place too!

Kim was AMAZING. I took my gf to dinner here, experiencing this place for the first time. The scallops, bread, and spinach ravioli knocked us out. I'd give 18 stars if I could.

The vibe , ambiance, and service here are amazing . We went for dinner here with a reservation. We had cocktails, which are amazing. We ordered a bread basket. It's good but can be better. For Entrée, we ordered principessa pizza, which is interesting and good. For dessert, we had lemon tartufo, which we loved. It's a good experience.

Wonderful experience at Mulino. Very beautiful atmosphere both inside and outside. Very unique food and cocktails options as well as presentation. The antipasti servings are small portion, enough to sharing amongst two people. Loved the tropico royal cocktail. Overall I think it is a great place to try new dishes. Very nice experience. Parking fills rather quickly. The lot is on the smaller side. The is paid parking across the street at a very low rate. Valet is also available.

When walking through the gates at the main entrance, you are greeted by a beautiful courtyard seating area complete with fountain creating a romantic atmosphere under strings of Market lights; however, the restaurant interior is chic and modern with subtle electronic music filtering through the air. It is this juxtaposition that makes Mulino an eclectic dining experience. And no dining experience is complete without food and it was absolutely delicious. The cocktails were ample and strong. The pasta was homemade. The service was beyond reproach. Mulino is not just a great restaurant but it combines old world charm with modern chic to create a dining experience.

Very nice setting with ample seating both indoors and outdoor. Waiter was friendly and courteous. Kitchen was slow. Food was flavorful and servings were plentiful. Parking on premises. Recommended

Tim was extra helpful. Great server. A truly delightful experience. Everything was just over the top. Would recommend to any one. Try the Gnocchi. Or the charcuterie board. You can't go wrong either way.

2.14.22 What they are saying is TRUE about seating. So WATCH OUT and speak up. With high-end restaurants this is common practice and they need to "protect" their ambience and image. So make sure to do it speak up and they will move you as requested, no problem. I'm used to it with these kinds of restaurants, but it's important to still go to promote change in culture. My experience: We had booked weeks in advance and when we arrived we were put initially in outside seating when we had reserved for indoors. So we were seated outdoors by the pool and decided to speak up (it was very pretty and warm enough, but we wanted inside). We were moved indoors BUT we were placed right in front of the swinging doors to the kitchen when there were multiple 2 seater settings available. We asked the hostess to be move again and pointed to the table we wanted nearby and then we were seated there. Much nicer. Rose was dropped off to us without a word and we were appeased for the annoyance of having to ask to be moved twice. Appetizers were served. I'm especially impressed since in the reservation (remember, made weeks ago) we had specified that I had a scallop allergy and needed a supplement and they REMEMBERED without me having to ask. Excellent Our actual server was really professional and inviting; She poured our wine and asked us to try it to make sure we liked it, she cleared plates during a change in course, she let us have enough time and described the following courses very well, and she took our picture when asked. She made our experience feel very special, so thank you 😊 The food was great, the wine pairing went really well with the warm food, the salad and desert were to die for and we overall had a really nice time. I'm so glad we spoke up and moved to where we wanted to he seated because it made the experience amazing ❤

So first of all, the staff is incredible. Everyone is laid back but super attentive. A feeling of being at someone's house more than a restaurant. I love the choices from salads to heavy meats, so depending on your mood always something to choose and enjoy. The quality of the food is great, fresh and flavorful. There are some things I really like such as the lasagna, the lamb, and Burrata salad. I love the patio and outside bar. Its very spacious, and I really appreciate that everyone is not sitting on top of each other, lots of room between tables. You definitely want to give that place a try, it will become a regular place to have a meal.

I have been racking my brain trying to figure out at what point tonight we deserved the service we were given. Was it because we didn't order a second bottle of wine? Was it because we were laughing too loud? (I mean it was a party of people who hadn't seen each other in months) Was it because we were a group of young (read 25-ish yo) black customers that the assumption was we wouldn't tip well? Was it because we made the reservation for 12, but 4 people had last minute plan changes and only 8 of us came? I'm simply confused. My experience tonight at this restaurant was unlike any other place I've been and I've been to some places where there service was questionable. By the end of the night I felt disrespected, neglected and held hostage in a place that I used to adore. I loved going to Babylon, so naturally, when my best friend asked for a nice place to eat to celebrate her 25th birthday in Raleigh, this was the first place I thought of! I gave Mulinos 2 stars only because of the ambiance and decor (which I love, but there's not many ways you can screw up the old mill)... anyway. It took an hour and 15 minutes to receive our food after we ordered. I ordered the calamari without shrimp (because I'm allergic) and the waiter ensured they could make that happen. Of course the first plate they put in front of me had shrimp on it and would have ended in a very costly and public visit to the emergency room had I not had the forethought to shine my phone flash light on it since it was so dark outside. I understand they were really busy and make food from scratch, but 2 individuals in our party ordered salads as their meal and the salads came out 20 minutes before the rest of the entrees. When our entrees did come out 2 of them were lukewarm, but since we waited so long for the food, we just ate it anyway. After declining the 2nd bottle of wine with our waiter we never saw him again.... not at our table at least. Luckily, we happened to be a group of friends that hadn't seen each other in months so we spent the time catching up. About 20 minutes after finishing eating, we asked a busboy for a couple of boxes and for our waiter to stop by so we could get our checks. The guy brought the boxes but another 15 minutes went by with no checks. Meanwhile, we can see our waiter serving other guests (and handing out checks), but at no point did he return to us to say someone else would be taking over our table or explain why he wouldn't be serving us anymore. We saw several tables arrive, eat and leave in the time we were there. A guy came by to fill our waters and we asked him if he could find our waiter so we could pay for our meal, he said he would but another 15 mins went by. I had to flag down a passing hostess and get her to have a manager visit our table. Once he came I asked him to get our waiter to bring our checks as well as the cake I brought. I was well aware and okay with the cake cutting fee, but at this point all I wanted to do was leave. It took 10 minutes for our checks to come after the manager visited, but not from our waiter... a 4th random person (we saw the manager hanging out behind the bar the whole time, not getting the checks or the cake). It took 15 mins for our cards to be returned. We were in this restaurant for a little over 3 hours. I'm not the kind of person to leave without paying, but I also should not have to beg to pay the restaurant so I can leave because of how poor the service was. There was not a single apology (besides the hostess who had nothing to do with our dining experience) and not a single explanation offered for why our waiter went MIA. I will be calling tomorrow to speak with someone about tonight because it disappointed me so much that I'm up after midnight writing a Google Review about it. To go from the luxury of Babylon, to the disappointment of Mulino's, I'm positive I will never return. I work in a customer service field and tonight it was pretty nonexistent. Hopefully I will be able to speak with someone there about this experience so that they can ensure none of their other patrons feel like this. I'm not saying don't dine here, but I'm sincerely hoping this was a one off experience and there is some reasoning behind it. Oh... My calzone was okay. Calamari was nothing compared to Babylons (lacks in the salt and flavor department), wine was good (but that's not their doing) and the water tasted good, but I wish there was ice because we were sitting outside and it was 75 degrees.

Amazing experience! The wine/food pairings were the best I’ve ever had! Everyone went above and beyond to make sure my friends and I had a great time! Highly recommend the private red room for a larger party. Will absolutely be returning!

Amazing place! I'm a homebody and really don't eat out much (we usually grab take-away and eat at home); so getting out was hard. Would there be enough parking? Yes! Would there be enough room, so I wouldn't be jammed with a sea of people? Yes! Would the food be good, and would it be good FOR A VEGAN like me? YES!! Their cheese-less vegi pizza was BETTER than the pizza I have had in northern Italy!! Their in season vegis were AMAZING!! Service was perfection! A++!

If you loved Babylon you will love Mulino as well. They brought the same attention to detail with the menu, same attentive staff, same level of quality ingredients just changed the influence to Italy. You won’t be disappointed. The ambiance is like being on vacation. I recommend Mulino Italian Kitchen frequently as I know it will be a wonderful dining experience. If you have not been yet, you are missing out. Mangiare!

An amazing meal. The Lasagna practically melts in your mouth. Our party shared appetizers and a dessert. (Italian names I don't recall) The lemon based dessert is out of this world. Will definitely be back.

The food was prepared perfectly and Jeff was very knowledgeable with his wine pairing suggestion. I highly recommend this place. Great outdoor seating too.

We had a wondeful dinner here. Service was top notch as was the food. I especially enjoyed the bruschetta appetizer and the Lemon Semifredo dessert. My husband said it was the best espresso he'd had in Raleigh. It is true the portions are on the small side but they were so good we didn't really mind. The restaurant is very lovely too. We will be back.

Hands down best dining experience I’ve ever had in Raleigh. The food and service were amazing, the scenic views were perfect. The manager even sat us in a different table for a more romantic experience when I asked! We will be back! ^_^

Just a fabulous dinner experience. Our meals were superb from appetizer through dessert. Beautiful ambiance and impeccable service. We wanted to impress out of town guests and the staff at Mulino certainly delivered. Can't wait to return.

Food was very good but nothing spectacular or different from any other Italian restaurant. We were rushed too. Meal came out too fast, one course after another and barely finished our previous plate. Wouldn't go back.

In my personal opinion, I don't think it's the most authentic Italian restaurant in Raleigh. DTR is booming with innovative and delectable cuisine. Service was great, ambience was so-so. Food was meh. I had the Pollo Millanese. Potatoes was undercook and chicken was cooked by someone trained at Olive Garden. The owner greeted us "Hi!" and seems to be more interested in his staff dining in the bar than paying customers dining in the high table. Let's just say, I wouldn't come back in the next year or 10.

The atmosphere and food were both excellent! We also had the best experience with the staff! So nice and knowledgable! Will definitely go back when we are in town.

I've been searching for a go-to Italian spot since we moved to Raleigh from upstate NY. No restaurant has measured up until I went to Mulino last night for my birthday with my husband and friends. The wine was delicious, the bolgnese was amazing and the Panna Cotta made me feel like I was back in Italy. The staff were amazing and I was treated like a birthday queen, receiving a complimentary glass of champagne. I will definitely be back!!!

First time experience was amazing. Friends had an out door reception to celebrate their vows & everything was perfect! Kim the day-of coordinator was amazing as well as our bartender and the food was fantastic! I will be back asap :)

Everything about our experience was top notch. I had my 3.5 yo with me and we originally had a table outside. It was a large party and a special night for my friend the night before his wedding. The manager moved us inside because he didn’t want my daughter cold, made sure she had the milk she wanted, and kept making sure she was taken care of. The valet was also amazing. All of the staff was really courteous to us. The food was also delicious and the pricing was reasonable. Thank you for a great experience. I really can’t say enough about how well we were treated.

Worst experience booking a venue for our company party. Verbal and electronic confirmation with invoice for date, time, menus, beverage, including gratuity and bar service - but as soon as it came time to pay the deposit, wouldn't you know, they gave the date to another party (who happens to be spending more money than us because we only booked the entire patio while this other party booked the entire patio plus the restaurant). Now, I totally understand wanting to make as much money as possible, but what is quite possibly the worst business practice ever is to make false promises to your clientele. I would also highly recommend that the folks at this establishment learn how to communicate, or use basic calendar functions, so that they are aware when dates are and are not actually available. We now have 3.5 weeks to find a new venue with all the fixins for 140 people and it's right around the holiday season so this should be fun.. but I'm clearly not bitter.

Mulino was a fantastic experience. My friends and I absolutely loved everything. The service, food, and atmosphere was fantastic. The food was very authentic and the ambience was just right. I felt like I was in Italy again. I will definitely be coming back.

The atmosphere is wonderful, the servers all went way above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our meal - I felt like I was a guest in their home! The food was excellent and the limoncello delicious and dangerous (made with Everclear). Loved it and can't wait to go back!

With all the Italian restaurants in Raleigh, this is the ONLY one making their own pasta! We are thrilled, it makes a huge difference. I had the homemade Spinach & Ricotta Ravioli with Sage Parmesan sauce, very flavorful and the pasta was so tender it practically melted in my mouth. Another in our group ordered the Gnocchi and said the same. The Lamb Shank was so tender it was falling off the bone. Service was wonderful, ask for Amy Jo!
