I’ve driven by Piper’s Tavern 100 times and I’ve always wondered how it was. I’m so glad I stopped and tried it out! Amazing French Onion Soup. Seriously. Cold beer and a great Bloody Mary. The show stopper was the Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich. Tender beef, mushrooms, onions and gooey cheese, on the perfect roll. But the best part is this savory, rich beef gravy it comes with. I don’t know who sold their soul to make that gravy but it was worth it! Ask for extra on the side. You’ll thank me.

Delicious lunch on patio. Excellent service. Reasonably priced and large portions. The personal pizza had perfectly crisped crust. I would recommend.

I realize it’s probably not good form to mention one restaurant when reviewing on another… nevertheless; I was one of those people that actually teared up when Sawmill Taproom closed their doors. If you know… you know. Every other burger place in and around Raleigh was a distant second. I lost my “burger fix” restaurant!
After being in Raleigh since 1983 and marrying a Raleigh native, we somehow never made it to Pipers, until today. I FOUND MY NEW BURGER HEAVEN! Beautiful, large, high-quality patty cooked to perfection (medium rare, of course), served on a tasty brioche bun. I got the Brie and Bacon. Brie cheese melted to the top bun and with a generous topping of delicious bacon jam. Served with hot, crispy fries by very friendly staff!
Top this off with low prices and that great, friendly “true neighborhood pub” feel, and Pipers is a winner on all counts. We will be back to try many more dishes.

Our group of 8 were all seated at high tops and it was a great experience. Food was so good and service too. My only negative was too much garlic on green beans, wow.

Been eating(and drinking) here since it was Manchesters. Always a great experience, from food to service! My family of 4 dined last night, 2 beers and 4 meals for 80 bucks, which was an unexpected surprise, considering we spend 50 at CFA on 4 meals. Anyway, we had a party of 12, all meals came correct and timely. Waitress was proactive and attentive during the entire evening. Another great night at Pipers, thank you!

Pipers Tavern is an incredible place to go eat. The scenery is awesome, the staff are incredible, and the food is delicious. I had the potato skins and crab cakes and it was some of the best I've had. For dessert, our table ordered the hot fudge sundae and creme brulee, they were both outstanding and I certainly had a wonderful time dining tonight. Will definitely come again!

My wife’s salad was very fresh. I had a personal pizza and the green pepper was remarkably fresh. The pizza crust was a little cracker-like for my taste.
Grill cheese is not on the menu, but they were able make one for my son. It’s one of the best grill cheese sandwiches I’ve had anywhere. The French fries were good.
The sweet tea was good.

I haven't had a taco salad anywhere lately so it was the special salad today. It was really good and loaded and the side sauce was delicious! My husband had Buffalo sauce burger and also really like it.

This place was recommended by a local and we were thoroughly impressed. Super friendly service, amazing food, nice atmosphere and an owner who is passionate about the process. We had the broccoli beef, Cuban sandwich and the Reuben (hands down the best pastrami we have ever had!), and it was the best food we have had in Raleigh. Looking forward to going back and trying more!

This restaurant is fantastic! They have been around for 22 years now and it shows in their staff, libations, and the delicious food. Pricing is very fair on everything in their menu. The facility is clean and it is so refreshing when the waitstaff all seems like they want to be there. Overall this is one of the best American bar food and more places in Raleigh. We will be going back soon!

I've enjoyed every meal I've had. Especially liked the red snapper special. Busy but pleasant atmosphere. Friendly staff. Nice variety on the menu.

Expensive! Thought a lunch deal or something on a weekday but most items are $15 and up. Food was good and I liked the sweet tea. Homemade ranch, yum!

Great menu, with lots to choose from, and everything that was ordered was delicious. The host Brady is a great young man. He was very helpful and attentive. It was such a pleasure talking with him. Our waitress Keli did a great job, even with the restaurant being busy. We will diffently be back again.

Sat out on the deck last night and enjoyed our dinner. I ordered the chef's salad. Wow, the meat (turkey, roast beef, ham and bacon) was excellent quality, the lettuce was crisp and other ingredients were tasty. Lots left over for lunch today, as well.

Piper's tavern is one of the most consistently great pubs in the entire Triangle area. They have an enormous menu with daily specials to meet even the picky persons palette. The staff is very knowledgeable of the menu both food and beverages. You can never go wrong with Pipers in North Raleigh.

Great atmosphere, my wife and I came during trivia night unexpectedly. It was fun to watch other patrons participate and to try and guess our own answers. The service and food were great. Our server, Richard, was awesome.

I love this place! It's a one of a kind tavern/restaurant with GREAT food, awesome live music, & a full bar. The vibe is friendly & the servers take good care of you. Hats off to the chef owners - they're equally adept at making sesami-crusted tuna & the best philly cheese steak sandwich I've ever had.

Very disappointed today. French onion soup had so much salt I almost had a heart attach after 1st spoonful and 1 piece of bacon was put on a turkey club. Didn't eat any of it and cost me $20. Oh yes I did drink a beer. The only thing that was right. Most expensive beer I've ever had .

Food is pretty good, but the tavern is flying an Irish flag around while serving so so beer - No Stout and i dont think they offered any craft beer.
Will our group go back, maybe for the prime rib, but not if we are going out for a beer.
Fish Fry was really good and so was the 16 ounce boneless prime rib.
Mark Miller
Fantastic sliced flank steak sandwich (custom ordered). Great social environment with good selection of cold beers. This will be a must-stop when in Raleigh.

I have been going to Piper's for years. It is my favorite local restaurant. I love their Philly Cheesesteak sandwich and the shrimp & grits. I have told all my friends that Piper's has the best shrimp & grits in all of Raleigh. Once my friends tried it they all agreed. The people working there are usually nice & friendly. It is rare that we get bad service. I definitely recommend going to Piper's.

The food is excellent and the staff is always super friendly! I go there for the Sunday brunch and it is always excellent!!!
Lynda Suzanne Wright
Good neighborhood pub/tavern with good food and spirits! They have Trivia on Sunday nights, and always plan fun activities/foods/drinks for St. Patrick's Day and other holidays. We recently joined them for brunch, and I also met a friend here for a drink and appetizers a few weeks ago. It is a good place for both!

The Fish and Chips are the best in town here! They always give me bread to make my “chip butties” with too.All English/Aussie folks know what they are!
