Review Rye Bar & Southern Kitchen - Raleigh

Place is located in the hotel lobby of the Marriott. They must be understaffed as we stood there a bit before we were seated. Once seated, they gave us water right away but took a bit for someone to come take our order. Then after we ordered, they came back and told my youngest daughter that what she ordered was already out...and lunch menu they gave us had just started. Also took a long time to get my drink even though there was hardly anyone around the bar. We had Salmon Cake, Collard Greens (both kids said it was good), Cheddar Grits (my oldest daughter sent them back as she didn't like them), Rye Wings, Shrimp and Crab Hush Puppies (amazing and recommended), Rye Burger (my youngest ordered this after her original order was out) and a couple Old Fashions and Margarita Platinum. Overall the chow was good, but the service does need lots of improvement for a place attached to a hotel.

We had a dinner here for work to celebrate. The food and service were good. I had Pan seared salmon with roasted potatoes and Brussel sprouts.

Late dinner after the ballet. Close to event center, short walk. Great atmosphere for dinner without being overcrowded. Food selections include the regular items with some great alternatives. Service was great, very attentive without being bothersome. Suzan was our server and we couldn't have had better experience. Food was very tasty and fresh and was the perfect portion for a late supper. Try the meatloaf, you won't be disappointed!!

The service was impeccable and the food was superb. I came here with some work friends and we were happy we stopped here. I had the blackened shrimp and grits and it was done to perfection. The shrimp were cooked perfectly. I took a piece of the pecan pie home for dessert and it was a masterpiece in a box. If you are downtown Raleigh, you should absolutely stop by.

I am usually very hard on hotel restaurants and many only could stay in business with the financial support from the hotel----this is a totally unique and different story! This place is a perfect 5 out of 5 star quality in all areas kind of restaurant. This restaurant would stay in business without the hotel. Amazingly great with prices, service and overall food quality. Definitely a place I would return to and it has now made my hot list! A place that gets my recommendation!

We visited the Rye Bar and Southern Kitchen while on business travel. We stayed in the Marriott, which contains the restaurant. We actually ate there twice. They have a Mc Ryb which is their take on the Mc Rib. Needless to say it was really good. Friendly staff and a great atmosphere! Highly recommended!!

A great meal and wonderful service in a very modern, but comfy spot located inside the Marriott Raleigh City Center. Great prices and food was phenomenal! Highly suggest getting the cheesecake of you get the chance! Easily the best one I've ever had.

My family and I ate breakfast at Rye last Saturday and Sunday while on a visit to Campbell University. This restaurant is located inside the Marriott in downtown Raleigh. It was the perfect time to visit because the city was busy and Christmas is in the air. On Saturday, the restaurant was packed and they didn’t have adequate staff to help get everyone seated in a timely manner. Though the food had a lot of Potential, it came out lukewarm - and who wants to eat cold grits?!? We had an array of items from omelets to waffles to French toast, potatoes, bacon, sausage, grits and fruit. We had a large party so it was great to see the presentation of the food. The presentation was great, the atmosphere and location was great and surprisingly, the food was seasoned well and tasted good. The only challenge was the temperature. They were super busy which resulted in slow and semi-unfriendly service. Great vibe, good food, okay service for Saturday for our group. When we came on Sunday, we had a smaller group and we were greeted with a smile from a very busy, yet, attentive, elderly black woman who was making things happen. The waitress on Sunday was flustered but very kind and accommodating. We asked for hot food and she ensured we had it. The experience on Sunday was MUCH better than Saturday even though they were busy until tomorrow. Overall, 4 stars. The only thing they can improve upon is the friendliness of the waitress and ensuring the food is hot when being presented to us. Thanks for listening and I hope it helps! Sonali Hutson

My dad and his wife were in town and we met them here for dinner. We all enjoyed our meals. We had wings, hamburgers, shrimp and grits. My dad and I enjoyed our bourbon.

I was here for one night on business travel and cannot remember the name of the bartender with the short hair and goatee but his personality and professionalism was outstanding. Highly recommend not only for the outstanding service that everyone else also gave, but it's just a fun place.

We celebrated my mom's birthday here and it was a nice venue. Not many places allow reservations on weekends but we were able to here and there was 10 in our party. The mussel appetizer was so good! I could have just eaten that for my meal. The meatloaf was enough for 2 people. The chicken and mash potatoes was awesome. I would have given a 5 except one guest had to send their dish back because the Gnuci was not cooked enough and my husband asked for medium rare steak and it was well done. I would definitely eat there again.
