I had an unexpected twist at Captain Stanley's “Calabash style” Seafood Restaurant in Raleigh, NC. Originally aiming for seafood, destiny led me to their ribeye steak, and I couldn't resist. I ordered it alongside a baked potato, lima beans, and sweet tea with a quarter of a lemon. They kindly added hush puppies to the order because of the wait, which didn't bother me. The staff was very friendly and engaging with me, along with customers that entered, which added to my overall experience and gave it a homely vibe. Despite being a seafood restaurant, the ribeye steak was spot on. It was medium-well cooked and lightly seasoned. The sides were equally great. And once again, even though I was in a seafood restaurant, the ribeye stole the show.
So the combination of fate, friendly staff, and the steak I wanted made this takeout experience unforgettable.
*Note: Maybe the next time I visit Captain Stanley’s, I will order seafood. 🤦🏾♂️

Large portion sizes. We ate captain special...all fried...I think some of the options would have been better broiled. But enjoyed the restaurant.

I prefer Captain Stanley's over Mayflower. The food has always been good at this location. The staff are really friendly and I never had to wait very long to be seated.

This is the kind of fish camp I grew up going to. Shrimp tator tots and slaw. Soooo good! The desserts are really good too. Perfect take out for a Friday night (cheat meal)

Calabash Style seafood from Captain Stanley's Seafood Restaurant! Calabash-style seafood is lightly breaded and fried, originating from Calabash, North Carolina. We got fried shrimp, scallops, oysters, crab cakes, and fish along with sides of Brunswick Stew, Lima beans, and coleslaw. Staff was super friendly and the restaurant was clean. There were also broiled options that I'd love to try next time!

It shows that Covid is impacting this restaurant. On a weeknight it's was less than half capacity. They specialize in Calabash seafood, and do a pretty good job. The wait staff was friendly and the meal was good. I would come in again when I'm in the area.

I was seated, ordered, and was served within 10 minutes. The food was as expected. I then waited nearly 30 minutes (asking multiple times ) to get my ticket. In addition, the place needs to be cleaned. Everything is covered in grease. I will not go back.

The restaurant is nice but their prices have gone up like everyone else’s and the portions have shrunk. The cheapest place for fish on Friday, is K&W and get a full meal with a drink.

Family dining atmosphere with great portions. Bang Bang Shrimp was more than enough for a family of 3-4, was a meal portion in and of itself. Then between the free Hush puppies and the meal I couldn't finish everything.

We got there 5 minutes b4 closing for take out. They were friendly even tho bout to close. The food was fresh, and definitely better than its every been. They must have a new cook in the kitchen! Keep up the good work!

Captain Stanley’s Seafood Restaurant is a true Raleigh gem! This is a no frills family-owned seafood restaurant which never disappoints me and my dinner guests. The seafood always tastes fresh, the restaurant is extremely plain (yet CLEAN), the prices are incredibly reasonable, and the portions are very generous. You can choose from a hefty portion of your single favorite item (baked, broiled or fried) or choose a platter of your favorites (2-4 choices to mix and match). They offer regular, senior, and children portions and 1-2 daily specials. The staff here are always friendly and courteous. I feel they appreciate my business. If you love fresh seafood, you shouldn’t be disappointed!

Have gone here for years. Usually a 10. Bad night. Oysters were only warm, shrimp were cool and old tasting. Scallops were fresh and hot. Slaw was just wet cabbage. As indicated before, usually it is one of the best seafood restaurants I have ever been to. This was just a bad night. I certainly WILL return because they're fantastic MOST of the time. Just not Thursday night.

The oyster stew was divine. The fried oysters were perfect. The fried scallops were excellent. But the seafood combo was ruined by previously frozen popcorn shrimp. Too bad they can't serve fresh 20-30 count shrimp.

My wife and I had the Grouper Fingers and they were delicious. It was the first time we had eaten there but, it won't be the last. Next time we will try the grilled Salmon.

We have enjoyed captain Stanley’s seafood for years. My husband is especially fond of the spot when it is in season which is now October November but you must ask them to cook them lightly same thing with oysters so they don’t over batter and over cook otherwise everything is great and the service is always with a big smile. Oh yes the sweet tea is outstanding as well.
