Took my wife to go see the taters last night at the county seat. Never been there before. I left amazingly impressed! The restaurant is a very deceptive place when looking at it from outside, you would swear it was shoebox. Looks can be so deceiving. The place was beautiful on the inside. Setup almost like an old country tavern, they served a buffet that had outstanding food such as butterfly fried shrimp which were awesome, BBQ!!!...fried chicken with breast pieces that were huge, fried fish nuggets, peel and eat spiced shrimp, smoked roast beef/sirloin where the chef sliced and served with their homemade cola steak sauce or served with aujus sauce, mashed potatoes, black eye peas, brussel sprouts, Stewed tomatoes, corn on the cob, rolls, Mac & Cheese, green beans, lima beans (which were to die for....) and last but not least, a salad bar. The wait staff was non-stop on the scene and very accommodating to our needs. All in all, a wonderful dining experience. And the dessert selection was fabulous, even though it was not part of the buffet price. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. Took my wife of thirty years here for a "date". She was very pleased as was I.
Had a fantastic time performing the other day!! It was a lovely packed house and every person was so incredibly nice! The food was delicious and the staff is awesome! (The Mac n Cheese is to die for!) I hope to come back and play again!
Went with a group of friends for brunch on New Year’s Day! A lot of food and delicious and the ladies that took care of us were awesome! Good food and friendly staff! Perfect combination. We will be back!
We visited fir the first time this morning, and it was wonderful. Our server(and all the staff we encountered) were SO sweet, welcoming, and helpful. We all had the breakfast buffet, and it was delicious. Our 8-year-old son has Autism and is hard to please with textures, certain flavors, etc, and he said it was the best breakfast he'd ever had. That's saying something! 😁
Had Birthday Brunch with my family here yesterday (Sunday) and it was wonderful! A beautiful location, staff is as sweet as the Kentucky Derby pie, and all the food was top notch! We will surely be back often! (and a BIG Thank you to our wonderful waitress-Im so sorry I do not remember her name- for being so sweet and sending me home with some of that awesome Derby pie for my Birthday!!!)
Great place. Everybody that works there very courteous and professional especially the waitresses. Some if my friends ride are motorcycles today and 25° weather to go eat breakfast that’s how good it is.
RVA Minis came in around 10:45am they had already set a table up for us and restocked the breakfast bar. Wait staff was awesome. But the Oyster Po Boy was exceptional!!!!
Thanks for having us....
RVA Minis..
August, 2018. My wife and I had brunch here on a Sunday. Omellet, potatoes, sausage and fruit were "koestlich!" As the Germans say, delicious! Wunderbar, wonderful! Aug Wiedersehen! We will see you again!
Southern charm meets great food and service. Thanks so much!!!
great food from the buffet and service. Great entertainment with Bluegrass!
We were here to see The Taters band and they were great. First time at County Seat and we were very impressed. Looks like they have a very nice buffet that many seemed to be enjoying. I instead ordered the oysters and was very pleased. Good mashed potatoes a gravy too. Wife's burger was good, but not her favorite. Servers were excellent on a very hectic and crowded evening. I think ours was Lauri...she was superb. Curiously, they seem to close at 8, but maybe those hours are extended as we get into the summer.
This hidden gem is located in the town of Powhatan directly across from the courthouse. The waitresses and cooks always make me feel welcome. The food is absolutely amazing and very tasty. If you're ever in Powhatan be sure to stop in and grab a bite. They also have a buffet on the weekends. The Sunday breakfast is also amazing!
This was our first visit to the county seat and boy was it worth the trip. The buffet is amazing, the staff is great and the history there is pretty cool too. The facility is unique and spacious and we love the crowd, we can't wait to come back.
Love this country place and the country cooking. Their Sunday buffets are the best. My husband loves the breakfast buffet and I love the lunch. All those wonderful vegetables and fried chicken.. It's as close to heaven as you can get. Not to mention the staff. They're like family. And don't forget their homemade soups, desserts and salad bar.
Food was delicious and our server was very good. My only complaint was when we were asked for dessert I asked the price of a pie and was told it was $14. I asked if it could be cut in 8 pieces and brought to our table.
At home looked at my receipt and saw we were charged for 8 pieces of pie rather than a whole pie, which was $28. I understand the reason they probably charge the extra amount but we were not advised or told about the increase.
We just stumbled on a street festival dance party with live music on the road in front of County Seat. We had some yummy appetizers and adult beverages and listened to the live music. Good times were had by all!!
We go there at least 2 times for lunch every time we are in that area. We made it there this year for the Sunday buffet. It was a true Country brunch buffet. The food and the selection was excellent, the service was great. The manager noticed we were not regulars. He asked how everything was and couldn't be more friendly. You have to try their waffles made to order. So thick and so light and airy you can't just eat one.
