Review Black Tartan Tap Room - Powells Point

My favorite course near OBX. Played Carolina Club & The Pointe (also both good courses), Currituck, Seascape and Nags Head - this one consistently in great shape, solid range, beautiful setting and one of the more challenging courses to play in the area.

Highly recommend. I appreciate good course architecture and Kilmarlic is a fantastic design. It’s fun, difficult, scenic, and in pristine condition. Loved the fast and firm fairways and greens. You have to really think your way around this course and execute shots. Great food and service at the bar. They have a great culture here. Probably the best course to play when visiting the outer banks.

Very fair price and absolutely beautiful course. Will make this a regularly played course while on annual vacation every year. Not to hard but not easy either.

Had a great time during my round at Kilmarlic this past weekend. Cart was waiting for me when I parked and clubs were loaded before I even got inside to check in. The pro was great to talk to, as was the starter when I made my way to the range. Course was beautiful and in great shape, and made it through in 4 hours flat. This is not really a walking friendly course as there's a lot of distance to cover from green to tee on a lot of holes. Was an all around great day and I'll certainly return.

BEAUTIFUL course and very challenging. Don't miss the fairway and you'll have a good time. Greens are putting very true as of this review.

I’ve played almost all the courses in obx area and kilmarlic is always my favorite. Fun course and always in good shape when we go every September.

Very nice challenging course. Greens were a little slow due to a lot of rain the area received. Tee boxes and fairways are very nice. Pay attention if your looking for your ball in high rough and woods. Snakes every where. I really enjoyed this course. Thank you to the friendly staff and especially thank you to the landscaping crew for your hard work.

Spent a week in Kitty Hawk about a month ago. Out of 6 rounds, I played Kilmarlic 3 times. It's a wonderful track that was in very good condition. There were two greens that had a disease, but it was clear that the club was addressing it. Layout and green complexes were very enjoyable. There is an iconic sheltered par 3 on the front 9 that is nerve wrecking but a blast. Staff was fantastic. Hurt myself on my last round from over exertion and they were nothing but phenomenal. Thanks Kilmarlic, look forward to visiting again!

We played a round of golf at Kilmarlic while we were on family vacation in Duck. We’ve played many courses in the area over the years and this is by far the best course we have played to date. Brian (the owner) and the rest of the staff were very accommodating and went out of their way to make sure we had a great experience. The course was very well maintained and the rental clubs were top notch. I will be playing this course again next year and I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves getting out on the links. 6 stars!

Very open and unique decor in their restaurant. It even has outdoor seating overlooking a fairway. The food is very good as well and has a variety of options in which to choose. Wish they were open every day!

Solid layout with some areas you can get in trouble. Greens were in great shape. Areas around the greens were a bit beat up. Pace was brutally slow. Almost a 6 hour round

Absolute gem of a golf course, this course is slept on but I’d prefer it that way. Course is always in great condition and staff is awesome!

Just completed my first round at Kilmarlic NC. This course is a challenge and to the first timer. However you can see what this course will be like come in season. Yes they are repairing some green sides but I say shoot for the greens then. The grass needs to mature and it will. I will play it again but differently because I know it now The golfer who wants water, sand, making shots will like this course. Give it a try

Fun course with decent layout and hazards. Course was in good conditions at start of the season in May. Staff were friendly and pace of play was quick even at a full schedule.
