This is the warmest, most friendly place in North Portland. Featuring delicious food made by local signature artists.. Often live music and always good pool 🎱 😎

The best neighborhood pub I've found, anywhere I've been. It's just a smallish place, set up for locals, but a p!ace that still takes pride and that seems an increasing rarity in PDX. Lots of friendly locals, easy to pick up a conversation (which is the only reason I go to bars).
Tuesday is cheesesteak night. If you don't like fussy cheesesteak orders, these are simply the best around. If you need particulars, Grant's is the place anytime. But if you're in the neighborhood on a Tuesday -- provolone, onions, bell peppers, and pepperoncini, on a hoagie -- these are as good as it gets anywhere, really, and not outrageously expensive.
Thursday is Taco night, and they do street tacos, double soft white corn tortillas with asada meat, cilantro, onion, and salsa. Also damned good food, easily filling, nutritious, and pretty cheap.
And these people read, too. I mean, like, they have creative lives and internal lives, they don't seem just like work drones and burnouts (besides me, maybe). This isn't really a sports bar, though you could pick up a good debate.
If you can't find peace and hospitality here, you probably want too much and will need to pay for your privilege.

Good service, decent selection of liquor and beer. Has a pool table.
Your quintessential neighborhood dive bar!
Lupon Sensay
Good pints on tap, nice pool table

It's quite refreshing to dip into a dive bar without it having been over-run by a bunch of no-talent hipsters that bring nothing to the table.
LEGION ANDERS
New discovery. Very nice bar. Cabin-like vibe and who doesn't love that, right? My only complaint is that north-Portland/St. Johns is a bit far away from my home. Say hello to Chris the bartender. I've known him a long time. Great lad. Excellent rockabilly bass player; I'm talking the real deal.

This place was amazing. Quiet, friendly, laid back, and comfortable. Patio is fairly wind proofed, and the drinks were phenomenal.

Had a wonderful time with live music (Annabelle Gelmetti) out on their back patio area. They had a couple of delicious drink specials - a cucumber, vodka, lemon drink that was quite refreshing and a drink called a Watermelon Pop, which tasted a bit like Watermelon Kool-Aid... but for adults😉

This a good dive bar, and I think it's really the patrons that make it shine. It's got a Friendly community vibe

Great place to feel like a local at the bar, a friend to everyone beside you, and not forced to give a review (after you've rated the place five stars). Steven is always great, with his friendly words, familiar time and quick service. Shannon works here too, I guess... But yeah thumbs up overall.
PS: Shannon doesn't know what the Amityville Horror is.... SMH...

Old time favorite places as I used to no one of the old owners before she passed away and would do Thanksgiving and other big day is over at the Sundown as well as starting a food item on the menu called something cheesy for me and I love cheese. Her husband Julie and owns the place now and I absolutely love everything about the sundown and I'm so appreciative that it is still around and serving

Pros: Try the pudding shots! Great atmosphere, great patio.
Cons: there is a bump in the floor in the back that I often trip over. I've yet to drop a drink, but it's just a matter of time.

Small, quite and they let you bring in food from next door (drunken noodle). Bartenders are chill and drinks are cheap enough. If you're from St. John's you're likely to run into old friends (which is always good for me) or just shoot some pool with kool ass strangers.

Aj is an awesome bartender sun down great place to hang in the North

This ain't a "party place". This is a place that you can relax and shoot some pool or play some board games while hanging out with a bunch of friendly folks.

What do I think? I think that our customers are our friends and neighbors, and have become adopted family. I feel that we have the most wonderful group of different people that spans decades of rich cultural heritage, and look forward to a never-ending web of stories that enlighten us each day. Okay, Old Man Friday is awesome, and spreading out over the rest of the week!
